Wielding the Thunders Across Two Worlds
Chapter 237 - 236: A Thunderbolt for a Skyscraper
Eric was speaking English, which Taoist Ming Yu couldn’t understand. "What is he saying?"
Changyi replied helplessly, "He said he can call the prosecutor’s office and have me released without charges."
Taoist Ming Yu couldn’t help but chuckle. Sensing the faint deathly aura inside Eric, he asked, "Does he practice his techniques using corpses?"
Changyi replied, "It’s a heritage from Europe. Apparently, it has something to do with Satan and Wizards."
Taoist Ming Yu nodded and asked again, "Ask him how he framed you."
Changyi translated. A flicker of panic crossed Eric’s eyes, and he hastily shook his head. "I didn’t frame you! It wasn’t me!"
Taoist Ming Yu was wise with age; one look at Eric’s eyes told him the man was lying. He shook his head and sighed, "To think he still dares to argue, even now."
Gu Zhao said flatly, "Telling bald-faced lies is their specialty."
He used to get angry about it back in college, but now he just saw them as a joke.
Eric didn’t understand their language. Hearing Taoist Ming Yu and Gu Zhao speak, he couldn’t understand the words but tried his best to read their expressions, all while wearing the look of someone who had been wrongly accused.
"Wang Changyi! I really didn’t frame you!" Eric shouted. "I was only willing to bail you out because you have Superpowers! I wanted you to work for me!"
Eric continued his defense, "I know you Celestial Xia People are all about rules! You don’t have any evidence, right? Without evidence, you can’t suspect me! Hurry up and speak for me!"
"We got off on the wrong foot, but I’ve always considered you a friend!" Eric said anxiously. "How can you treat a friend like this?"
Eric was, at least, quick-witted.
’Although the Five-Colored Thunderclouds and the Golden Armor Divine General had nearly shattered his composure,’ he thought, his mind racing, ’since these Celestial Xia People have such incredible abilities but haven’t used them, it must mean they’re extremely bound by rules. They won’t resort to force unless absolutely necessary.’
This matched his stereotype of Celestial Xia People perfectly.
’Their sudden outburst this time probably means Changyi is an important junior to them.’
Recalling that Changyi also had a Cultivation level—one higher than his own that even suppressed him—Eric felt a pang of regret. He never expected the powerhouse backing Changyi would be this formidable.
’But a gentleman’s principles can be exploited. If I can just become their friend...’
So Eric staunchly denied framing Changyi. He even tried to turn the tables, attempting to transform a personal grudge between Extraordinary Beings into a legal matter for the mundane world. He even intended to emotionally blackmail Changyi.
But Changyi just rolled his eyes. "When I met with my parents, I said I couldn’t claim you framed me without proof. That’s because I was in a tough spot and didn’t need a slander charge on top of everything else. Now my Martial Grand-Uncle is here, and you’re still trying to pull this crap on me? Do you really think I’m an idiot?"
"Huh?" Eric was completely bewildered.
Just then, two Celestial Warriors flew over, clasped their fists in a salute, and reported, "The mortals inside the Calvin Group Mansion have been evacuated."
Taoist Ming Yu nodded. With a slight raise of his hand, the two Celestial Warriors transformed into paper figures, floated gently into his palm, and were tucked away into his sleeve with a flick of his wrist.
Changyi was stunned. Eric was also stunned.
Taoist Ming Yu looked toward the building in downtown Berkeley City, still flashing with advertisement lights, and smiled faintly.
They had come to make a statement. They wouldn’t just conjure some clouds, save a few people, and leave. If they didn’t instill fear in those with ill intentions, how could their Dao Hearts ever be at ease?
Taoist Ming Yu formed a Thunder Seal with his hand and chanted a Thunder Curse, "O holy spirits mighty and grand, shake the heavens and the land. Five Thunders with faces of iron, let the searing bolts fly on!"
The next moment, a deafening crack of thunder echoed from the Five-Colored Thunderclouds. A five-colored bolt of lightning as thick as a water bucket surged out, striking the roof of the Calvin Group Mansion directly.
The lightning rod on the skyscraper’s roof was useless, melting away instantly in the flash of light. The Thunderbolt then pierced the building from top to bottom.
BOOM!
A sky-shaking, earth-shattering peal of thunder drowned out the sound of countless windows shattering across the facade of the Calvin Group Mansion.
As the thunder faded, the fifty-four-story, steel-and-concrete structure collapsed as if the bottom of a block of tofu had gone soft.
Taoist Ming Yu’s control was exquisite; none of the falling debris even grazed the cars parked along the street.
As the skyscraper crumbled into ruin, Taoist Ming Yu finally turned to Eric and said flatly, "You practice an Evil Technique, carrying Evil Qi with you. You murdered a classmate, framed another, and still cling to the hope of getting away with it, refusing to confess your crimes."
"You deserve death!" Taoist Ming Yu declared his verdict. With a glare, Eric’s Divine Soul was instantly scattered, and his life was extinguished.
"Place his body on the ruins of that building," Taoist Ming Yu ordered. The Celestial Warrior holding Eric flew toward the newly collapsed skyscraper.
"Is there anything else you need to get?" Taoist Ming Yu asked, looking at Changyi and his parents.
Wang Dehai and Li Qing shook their heads in unison. Li Qing pointed to the left hand of the Celestial Warrior supporting her. "All our things are here, including our IDs, passports, and various documents."
Changyi also shook his head. "My things were confiscated, but it was nothing important."
Taoist Ming Yu nodded. "Then let’s return to our country together."
With a wave of his hand, he used his own Magical Power to support Changyi and his parents. Taoist Ming Yu then recalled the Celestial Warriors, dispersed the Five-Colored Thunderclouds, and cast an Invisibility Skill, concealing all of them from view.
"Let’s go!"
Protected by Taoist Ming Yu’s Magical Power, Changyi felt none of the rushing wind or biting cold. He just looked back at the figure who wasn’t following them. "Martial Grand-Uncle, who is he? Isn’t he coming with us?"
Taoist Ming Yu smiled faintly. "He is the Daluo Palace Master, a living Immortal. He isn’t coming with us because he’s going to check on that Eric’s parents. If they have also committed wicked deeds, they will be punished as well."
...
The golden figure vanished, and the Five-Colored Thunderclouds dissipated. Aside from a building reduced to rubble, it was as if nothing had ever happened.
The sun had not yet risen, but scattered sunlight was already filtering through the clouds and mist, illuminating the small, modern city in western Huaqi Country.
There were still few pedestrians on the streets, but aside from those who had long since hidden themselves away and were trembling in fear, the ones who remained were still staring up at the sky, stunned into silence.
Some people, just leaving their homes and grumbling about how there was only thunder but no rain during the night, were startled by the crowd on the street looking up at the sky.
"What are you all looking at?"
"Aliens."
"What aliens?"
The confused onlookers followed their gazes but could only see the faint light of dawn and birds circling in the sky.
"Are you nuts?"
"I... I got it on camera!"
