Will the Aloof Billionaire Divorce Today?
Chapter 1049: My Sweetie
Anyway, everyone comes from wealthy families and most are only children, so the money is theirs to squander for a lifetime, living off their parents with pride and confidence.
Everything that others envy and long for, Heaven has greedily bestowed upon them.
So growing up in such a family background, how could they not be indulgent, arrogant, and haughty?
These are men spoiled by women, and they don’t think much of women themselves.
Usually, Matthew Saxon turns a blind eye to this, neither participating nor stopping it, only sometimes watching as entertainment when bored.
But today, bringing Scarlett Yates along, he couldn’t just let things slide like he used to.
Before coming, he warned each of them, telling them to rein it in and be mindful, promising trouble for anyone who scares his woman.
Scarlett quietly followed by his side, and hearing him speak this way, she knew he was worried she might feel uncomfortable, so she flashed a smile, pretending to be relaxed, and said, "What’s there to be bad here? You just said that not everyone can come, if not for you, I wouldn’t even qualify to be here, just think of it as you taking me out to broaden my horizons."
Matthew chuckled, curling his lips as he murmured, "I’m afraid my friends might scare you. They’re accustomed to indulgence and hardly appear serious. You haven’t encountered such people and may not approve."
Scarlett blinked, her dark eyes looking at him, her lips curving with a playful smile, "How could I not be used to it, given I’m already used to someone as unserious as you. I’m not afraid of you, so why would I be afraid of them?"
Matthew: "..."
"Let’s go, hearing you talk about them makes me impatient to meet your friends and see just how unserious they really are."
After speaking, Scarlett pushed open the door to the private room.
The lighting in the room was dim.
As Scarlett walked in, she saw a group of people seated on the sofa.
Each of them had a female companion next to them, whispering about something quietly.
The group was chatting happily, and the women were laughing sweetly. The moment Scarlett opened the door and stepped in, the chatter ceased.
Everyone tacitly fell silent, lifting their heads, eight pairs of eyes filled with curiosity landed directly on Scarlett.
After about a minute of silence, suddenly one of them stood up.
"Scarlett." A voice full of surprise broke the quiet atmosphere, and the person standing rushed out at lightning speed.
Moving so fast that Scarlett only saw a flash of pink darting toward her, before she could see clearly who it was, the swift figure was in front of her, and in the next second, she was tightly hugged by powerful arms.
This person was incredibly strong.
Scarlett almost had her waist broken in two.
She called out in pain, but it didn’t matter; instead, the grip got tighter, with another hand clutching her head, pressing it forcefully to his chest.
Holding her body, he trembled slightly in excitement, with a voice tinged with a sob, he choked, "Scarlett, I finally see you again, my sweet baby, I’ve missed you so much."
"Every day apart from you, I’ve been thinking of you non-stop. Without you beside me, I can’t eat well or sleep well. Life without you has no meaning, losing you makes every moment feel without hope."
