The flame figure looked like it had been about to say something, but then it suddenly froze.

Seeing the flame figure freeze like this, Lin Fan couldn’t help raise a brow in a confused manner as he looked at it. He was trying to figure out what happened to the flame figure that it would suddenly go silent like this.

But the flame figure suddenly changed.

"Ha, ha, ha, not bad, not bad. It seems like you’ve taken everything that this child has thrown at you and you’ve excelled in the trial. I really can’t praise you enough."

Lin Fan’s brows knit the moment that he heard this, but he didn’t really put up his guard.

After all, he could tell that the owner of this voice didn’t have any hostility towards him. It even seemed like the owner of this voice was filled with admiration towards him.

The only thing that Lin Fan was certain of was that the owner of this voice was different from the consciousness of the Heaven and Earth Flame. It seemed like the owner of this voice had attached itself to the Heaven and Earth Flame.

If he had to guess, this was most likely the thing that had been suppressing the Heaven and Earth Flame the entire time. This was the thing that had stopped the Heaven and Earth Flame from saying the things that it shouldn’t say.

After laughing for a while, the flame figure finally settled down and said, "Since you’ve shown all of this, how could I say that you haven’t passed this trial? You’ve passed with flying colours and I’m proud to say that you’ll be able to inherit everything here."

Lin Fan was certainly surprised by this generosity, but there was a part of him that was hesitant at the same time. Without actually seeing the things that he would be inheriting, it was hard for him to trust the words of the flame figure alone.

Especially since the one that currently controlled the flame figure had been hiding and watching the entire time.

If it was sincere, then it certainly wouldn’t have done this.

"There’s no need to be that doubtful. If you don’t believe me, I’ll show it to you right now."

With a wave of its hand, the door that they had passed through earlier appeared once more.

After stepping through, they appeared in the same trial area as before.

The moment that she saw him, Ye Qing Huan stood up from her seat and made her way forward. It was as if she had forgotten that there was some kind of barrier that had stopped her last time.

Only this time, it seemed like that barrier disappeared without a trace.

Ye Qing Huan was able to jump down to where Lin Fan was standing and stood between him and the flame figure.

The flame figure had stopped moving when it saw Ye Qing Huan do this, but then it started laughing again before saying, "It seems like this one cares quite a bit about you. With her power, there’s no reason for her to be this attached to you, but it seems like there’s something special about you that has made her this attached."

Ye Qing Huan deeply knitted her brows when she heard this before looking like she was about to complain.

But before she could, Lin Fan reached out to grab her by the shoulder and shook his head.

After all, he didn’t know who was controlling the flame figure right now. Even if he didn’t know who it was that was controlling the flame figure, what he did know was that they wouldn’t be that simple.

As such, he didn’t want Ye Qing Huan to do something that she would regret.

"There’s no need to look at me like that. What can an old man like me without a body even do to you two?"

The way that the flame figure was speaking really made it seem like some kind of old monster, which was why Ye Qing Huan raised her guard as well. She could tell that there was something completely different about this flame figure now.

Seeing that the two of them still looked at it like this, the flame figure didn’t bother saying anything else. It just stopped laughing and went off in a different direction.

After a few seconds of hesitation, Lin Fan followed behind the flame figure.

Since Lin Fan was going, it wasn’t as if there was anything that Ye Qing Huan could do other than follow behind the two of them. Though she made sure to move in between Lin Fan and the flame figure just in case.

After walking for a bit, it seemed like the flame figure had come to a wall.

Standing in front of the wall, it didn’t seem like the flame figure was planning on doing anything.

But before any of them could say anything, there was a reaction that came from the wall. This was the sound of something grinding against something else before a large door opened.

This door was different from the one that they had been shown before.

The doors from before weren’t as thick as the one that was currently in front of them.

This door had clearly been designed to be resistant. It seemed like something that couldn’t be broken even if they went all out against this door.

Not only that, they could sense that this door was even resistant against their spiritual sense.

Whoever had designed this door didn’t hold back at all when it came to building this door. So whatever was hiding behind this door was without a doubt something that was quite valuable.

When they walked through, they found that this was a very simple room.

The only thing that was here was a large cauldron that was just like the one that they had seen before. It was just that this place was also different from the rooms that they had seen before.

There wasn’t a single trace of burning that was in this place.

It seemed that even though this was the alchemy hall, this was the one place that flames weren’t allowed. Which was a bit ironic seeing as there was a cauldron with a flame inside of it.

However, they recognized that this flame possessed the same quality as the flame figure in front of them.

The flame figure quickly dissipated and there was actually a figure that was left behind.

It was just that this figure didn’t seem like a normal figure.

This figure was seethrough, as if they were some kind of ghost.

However, both of them could sense the spiritual energy that was coming from this figure. This wasn’t a normal level of spiritual energy, even for someone of Ye Qing Huan’s level.

Which meant that this was the soul of one of the old monsters from the Dao Sect...

It seemed like they had survived the destruction of the Dao Sect...

What were they planning to do by bringing Lin Fan and Ye Qing Huan here?

Both of them immediately raised their guards once more as this thought passed through their minds, but the old man didn’t seem bothered by this. Instead, there was this wry smile that appeared on his face when he saw the two of them acting like this.

"There’s no need for that, I’m not interested in anything like possessing your bodies or trapping you here. This was a legitimate trial and seeing as you passed it, you’re naturally entitled to the rewards that come with it." The old man casually said before walking over to the cauldron and knocking on it.

As he knocked on it, the flames inside of the cauldron stirred in a way that made it seem like it was annoyed by the old man.

The flames inside of the cauldron were clearly the Heaven and Earth Flames that they saw before.

With the way that the cauldron was placed here, it seemed like these Heaven and Earth Flames were actually placed here to guard this place.

For such a guard to be arranged, there was only one place that this could be.

This place was the storage of the alchemy hall.

The old man didn’t mind the way that their expressions changed in response to his actions. Instead, the old man just continued by saying, "Thanks to the actions of this little one here, you took a trial that was much harder than the one that you were supposed to take. It was a trial that shouldn’t have been released until some time after this. After all, it was supposed to choose a final successor to this place to pass everything down to."

Lin Fan narrowed his eyes slightly upon hearing this.

This was what he had already guessed was the case, but he had never said anything since it wasn’t as if there was anything that could prove this. But now that this old man said this, it had proven everything.

"So who are you?" That was the question that Lin Fan had to ask now.

"I was the former head of this alchemy hall before what happened, but I left a trace of my soul inside of this cauldron along with this flame that I had been nurturing. It was the only way that I could give my legacy to the future generation."

Then with a sudden shift in tone, the old man said, "Since you have passed the final trial, it means that there’s nothing left to hide from you. As such, you will be given everything here."
