Red Keep, King’s Landing

POV of Domeric Pendragon

Shortly after Domeric took his seat of honor, the feast officially began.

As for what this feast is for...

It was a celebration for Aegon and Margaery’s wedding.

Yeah. Those two were already married.

Their marriage had taken place quickly the previous week. Apparently, the Tyrells didn’t want to leave things to chance and wanted to seize the Queen’s title as soon as possible.

Domeric had personally attended the wedding. After all, if he hadn’t attended while he was officially in King’s Landing, it would have sent the wrong message. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦

But he didn’t stay long; he left after the wedding ceremony. He didn’t want to leave Ygritte alone while she continued her skinchanger training.

Domeric looked at King Aegon and Queen Margaery. The two looked rather chummy together, and he wondered how many times they’d fucked by now.

Every single night. If what Lyra told him was true.

He would say, ’Ahh, young love.’ But he wasn’t really all that different from them.

And despite his warnings, Aegon already seemed to have fallen for his queen. Not that there was anything truly bad about that.

Margaery was a good girl. And Aegon needed all the love and comfort he could get before the Long Night eventually arrived.

The real problem was Margaery’s grandmother, Olenna Tyrell. Domeric knew what kind of woman she was from the original destiny line of this world.

And if Olenna continued to behave the same way this time, it would create a problem for Domeric. In that case, Domeric might have had to get rid of her secretly.

But to make that decision, he first needed to meet the woman and find out her intentions.

While Domeric was thinking about this, the lords who had not managed to attend the wedding at the Great Sept of Baelor came one by one and gave their well-wishes to the King and the Queen.

The bards were singing a song about his victory against the Lannisters when an old woman walked up to him.

And this woman was exactly the person he had just been thinking about.

"You must be Your Majesty, Emperor Domeric Pendragon, whom everyone these days seems to be talking about." Olenna Tyrell said, "I must admit that after hearing all those songs about you destroying the Lannister armies, I expected you to be some 3-meter-tall giant savage with a large beard and a penchant for violence. Imagine my disappointment when I see a pretty-looking boy of average height."

He glanced at the woman and pinned her with a stare. "Do you have something to say to me, Lady Olenna? Or are you here just to amuse yourself?"

Olenna rolled her eyes. "At my age, you learn to take amusement from the smallest of things, Your Majesty. But enough of that. You’re right. I suppose I’m grateful for the fact that you didn’t drop my granddaughter at the bottom of the ocean."

A surface-level legitimacy probe told him that the woman was far more grateful than she was letting on.

And not only because he saved her grandchildren, but also because he arranged the marriage between Margaery and Aegon and secured her house’s position for the next generation.

But there was more. Some dark emotions were lurking behind those grateful eyes.

He dug a little deeper with legilimency and was not surprised to find that she was here with the intention of determining his worth and if he would be a problem for her house in the future.

What he didn’t expect was that she was more than ready enough to dispose of him if she felt that his presence might harm her family.

Domeric could more or less understand why she thought that way.

He had basically won the war on his own, and if she heard the rumors about him getting a whole army of Unsullied soldiers, then she had every right to be wary of him.

The Tyrells possessed the largest army in Westeros, but their dominance would be significantly diminished once he incorporated the Unsullied into his Imperial Army.

But Olenna Tyrell didn’t seem to care much about gratitude. For Domeric could see that if he posed a threat to her household, she would do anything to eliminate him.

And frankly, Domeric didn’t particularly like such ungrateful and disloyal people.

If she had talked like this with anyone else, then they would just assume her to be a grumpy grandma-like figure. But with a wizard as talented as him in mind magic, it was different.

Domeric could even see in Olenna’s mind that she resented him for taking the Imperial seat, a position where the King and Queen of the Iron Throne should kneel before him.

She even had plans to bring him down from that position when she found a weakness.

If Domeric didn’t know what Olenna wasn’t like and hadn’t prepared for this situation, he’d most likely be clenching his fists under the table right now, using Occlumency to calm himself and hide his emotions.

But now he didn’t have to do that, and Domeric had already formed his opinion about her in his short time.

This woman...

This ungrateful bitch...

She reminded him of the worst qualities of Ginevra Weasley.

Maybe that was why he was feeling such intense hatred for her when the only thing she’d done against him was make plans in her mind.

No matter what, though, he would not allow such a woman to live freely. Not when the presence of his dragons would eventually be known to everyone in Westeros.

When Olenna found out, she would definitely target Domeric, his loved ones, and his dragons.

"Boy...? Boy..." he looked at the old woman with a start. He really must have dove too deep in his own thoughts there.

"My husband had the habit of spacing out like you." The woman scoffed, "One day, he did not pay attention to where he was going and walked his horse off a cliff. Makes me wonder how you managed to defeat Tywin Lannister."

"You’re not the first person skeptical of my success, Lady Olenna. And you won’t be the last." He said while smiling.

Domeric now knew Olenna Tyrell’s strategy very well. What she said was entirely intended to rile him up and throw him off balance.

But Domeric had no intention of giving her that pleasure.

Olenna scoffed. But before she could say anything else, Margaery came and put a hand on her shoulder.

"Your Majesty," Margaery said with a small courtesy.

"Queen Margaery." He said by accepting her greeting.

"I must apologize for my grandmother." The Queen said with a warm smile. It looked genuine even though a legilimency probe told him it was fake. She was really good at this. "She can be a bit... inquisitive. Please don’t mind her."

Olenna scoffed once again, but didn’t berate her granddaughter, "You’re invited to a family dinner tonight, Your Majesty. I hope you don’t disappear again."

Then the woman left at last, but not before Domeric discreetly cast a curse on her.

Despite her age, or maybe because of her age and experience, Olenna was a dangerous woman who had clearly shown herself to be his enemy.

The curse he cast on her was similar to the one he cast on Ramsey Snow.

Within a few months, the Withering Curse would eat away at her until she would die a perfectly natural death.

He felt a bit bad for killing her, as he had nothing against House Tyrell. But then again, she should not have thought about targeting him or his loved ones either.

The Long Night was approaching, and Domeric wouldn’t let someone like Olenna, who was plotting to plunge the realm into another chaos, get away with it right now.

With that thought, he silently cast a spell on the cup of wine on the table before drinking it.

Because if she was thinking of poisoning him, then it was highly likely that someone else might do so as well.

He resolved to create a few poison-sensing rings for Ygritte, his aunt, Luna, Arya, and his subordinates once he returned from King’s Landing.
