Chapter 105: Chapter 90: Time Reversal Barrier

"To think it was Time Magic!" Isaac’s eyes lit up as he accepted the Magic Book. ’This is some incredible stuff!’

Especially for Wizards like them!

This brought up the distinction between Magic Books and Magical Books, a classification unique to Witches. The former couldn’t be used for Casting, but one could learn the Magic recorded inside. The latter could be used for Casting, but the Magic it contained could not be learned.

For Wizards, however, things were simpler. Magic Books and Magical Books were one and the same category. They didn’t care about a book’s Casting Ability; they only used them for learning.

The reason was simple: while Casting from a Magical Book was convenient, it was far too rigid. It might consume slightly less Magic Power, but it couldn’t compare to the freedom that came with mastering the Magic for oneself.

Therefore, in the eyes of a Wizard, regardless of whether a book could be used for Casting, as long as it recorded Magic or even related magical Knowledge, it was considered a Magic Book.

Thus, for Isaac, Angel’s gift was truly immense!

This was Time Magic, after all!

In the fictional worlds of Isaac’s past life, there was a saying: "Space is King, Time is Paramount." While this world lacked such a fanciful phrase, the respective statuses of Space and Time were much the same.

Any Magic that involved the direct manipulation of Space and Time was of an extremely high Level!

To master Space Magic through one’s own power, one had to be at least a Grand Wizard; otherwise, one could only rely on some High Position Existences or treasures like Magic Books. Time Magic was even more extreme.

It was a field of two extremes. One encountered it earlier than Space Magic; for Wizards on the path to Legend, even an Official Wizard could master it. For Arcanists, the bar was even lower—a mere Mage Apprentice could grasp it!

But these were all the most superficial of skills, like foreseeing the future or the Shadow Return Technique. Take foreseeing the future, for example. From Tier One to Tier Three, there were Magic spells with the same name, but their effects were worlds apart!

Tier One and Tier Two versions only provided vague hints that weren’t even guaranteed to be accurate!

But once it reached Tier Three, it was like looking through a microscope!

Crystal clear!

Of course, even though High-level Mages could formally study Time Magic, that didn’t mean it was easy. Time Magic remained the exclusive province of the few High-level Mages who could actually master it!

Most couldn’t even find an avenue to study it!

And now, thanks to Angel, Isaac—still just an Official Wizard—had access. To three of them, no less!

Isaac was beginning to understand why Philo had valued Angel so highly. ’What a talent!’

Unfortunately, perhaps because Philo, as a Legendary Mage, was used to taking what she wanted, or perhaps due to the arrogance of the Nobility, she had never genuinely befriended Angel. She had only planned to devour her as a resource.

In the end, she bit off more than she could chew.

Isaac eagerly flipped open the Magic Book and quickly skimmed the Time Magic recorded within. Although he, like other Wizards, generally looked down on using Magic Books for Casting, that disdain depended on the Magic in question.

This was the prestigious Time Magic, after all!

’So what if I use a Magic Book?’

’Some people would kill for the chance and still couldn’t!’

So, understanding its effects was crucial.

The first spell was Time Flies, which Angel had just cast. It could only be used on inanimate objects that lacked a complete Magic Power cycle. It caused their time to accelerate rapidly, erasing millions of years in the blink of an eye!

The restrictions were numerous, but the effect was terrifying!

It had a very Witch-like feel to it.

The spell would be very useful for cleaning up a battlefield or erasing all traces of a body. As for other applications, it was hard to think of any off the top of his head. This was mainly because its definition of "life" was far too broad—it encompassed not just plants but even bacteria!

Otherwise, it could have been used in experiments, which was a real shame.

Compared to Time Flies, the second spell was far more interesting—Time Reversal Barrier.

When placed on an item, the Barrier would trigger upon the item’s destruction, rewinding a portion of the item’s time back to the moment the Barrier was first established.

The most practical and interesting aspect was this rewound "portion of time"!

First, if it was applied to a living being, their memories would not be rewound. Second, the Magic Power sustaining the Time Reversal Barrier was also affected. In other words, although the Barrier could only be maintained for one hour, if the protected object was destroyed at any point within that hour, the Barrier’s duration would reset!

This made it incredibly useful!

Even suicide would be reversed.

It was incredibly reliable for both protection and interrogation.

The only downside was that while maintaining the Barrier, the user couldn’t employ Magic Power or other High-Level Energy, as it would interfere with the Barrier’s operation.

This meant that in battle, only an Official Knight could benefit from its infinite regeneration. For High Tier combat, its impact wasn’t significant.

Alternatively, one could first cast a few death-activated Curse Killing Magic spells on oneself. That would also allow it to be used in combat, but it was still a very passive strategy.

After all, the enemy could simply choose to ignore you.

But even with these limitations, the Magic was more than useful enough!

It could even be used in certain experiments.

The third Time Magic was called Time Travel!

Unfortunately, while the name was impressive, the actual effect was underwhelming. This Magic was strictly a one-way trip!

Furthermore, the destination time was completely unknown!

It was also useless against enemies, as the Magic required the target to be completely relaxed and to wait for thirty seconds inside a highly elaborate Time Array before they would be sent away.

Its combat and experimental applications were practically zero.

Its only value was for research; one could dissect the nature of this Magic to further their understanding of Time Magic Knowledge.

Unfortunately, that was of no concern to Isaac at the moment.

Isaac closed the Magic Book. Though each spell had its pros and cons, leaving him with only one and a half truly effective Time Magics, he was still very satisfied. After all, rescuing Angel hadn’t required him to go out of his way.

"Tsk, tsk. This gift is far too generous. How about this? In for a penny, in for a pound. Just tell me where you’re going, and I’ll take you there myself," Isaac said with a smile, tucking the Magic Book away.

"That won’t be necessary. You’ve already helped me so much," Angel said, shaking her head and refusing Isaac’s offer. "I’ll be leaving after two more towns. Someone is coming to meet me."

’Are you kidding? Let Isaac escort me?’

’I’d have to be insane!’

She knew full well how precious the Time Demon Path Book was, especially since it contained the Time Reversal Barrier, which was incredibly useful to her. The next time she managed to create one, it would be a matter of luck whether it contained this Magic again.

But even so, she had given it to Isaac!

She did it because she wanted to sever all ties with him!

Isaac was completely different from Philo. That man was even crazier!

In Angel’s eyes, someone like Philo, who frequently traded with Outer Gods, was already insane. But Isaac?

That man didn’t even bother with trading—he stole directly from the Outer Gods!

And unlike Philo, he didn’t have a Demigod for a father!

Therefore, if she could sever all ties with Isaac with a single Magical Book, it was a price well worth paying in her eyes!

For the rest of her life, she never wanted to have anything to do with Isaac again!

Neither as an enemy nor as a friend!
