Wizard: Starting With Synthesized Gems
Chapter 335: You Don’t Even Have This Little Money?
After Locke and the others left the Dispatch Department, the young formal wizard from the Seven-Colored Star Court immediately hurried back without stopping. It seemed he still had to settle a project in his hands to repay the Seven-Colored Star Court.
Therefore, he had to conclude that project as quickly as possible before obtaining his teaching position.
Of course, this would very likely take several years.
Even after obtaining some teaching positions, one still needed to queue up.
Because the high-level magical resources from various places and the subsidy quotas from the White Wizard Association headquarters were limited, this created a special situation where there was one radish per pit.
Meanwhile, Locke and Hussein simply went to the library at the White Wizard Association headquarters in the southeastern quadrant.
Since they had already come all this way, they might as well take a look at the southeastern quadrant White Wizard Association's renowned public library.
Locke and Hussein passed through a sacred magical barrier, then entered a building where the top, bottom, and all four sides were made of pure white rock. The interior of this building seemed to have infinite space.
But inside it was bare, without a single bookshelf or book.
It was like a barren white beach.
Only some universal scholar staff members sitting on leather sofas made from magical creature hides sat isolated in one area, holding books in their hands and reading.
There were also quite a few First Circle wizards inside reviewing materials. They turned their heads to look at the two newly entered colleagues, revealing slightly surprised expressions, then turned their heads back to focus their attention elsewhere.
After all, the number of First Circle wizards in the southeastern quadrant was limited, forming a small circle. Even if they didn't know each other, they had at least heard of or seen each other. It was rare to see two unfamiliar wizards at once.
Of course, some people still recognized that one of them was the recently prominent Eye Demon wizard.
It seemed the Eye Demon wizard's reputation was too fierce. Locke discovered that quite a few wizards whose gazes swept over him contained vigilance and faint fear.
'A person's reputation is like a tree's shadow. Black wizards must really pursue this kind of feeling,' Locke muttered internally. 'But everyone has misunderstood me.'
'I'm actually quite easy to talk to.'
Locke looked at Hussein and explained, "This should be the Illusory Library mentioned in the Universal Knowledge class. The books here are all hidden by the Illusion School's First Circle magic [Visual Desert]. We just need to find a universal scholar to retrieve the books we want, and the bookshelves with the section of books we need will automatically appear before us."
"Extremely convenient."
"Even more so... our inner desires will automatically attract the books we want and bring them to our hands."
Hussein glanced at Locke and muttered, "Universal Knowledge class? Visual Desert? These are all things I've never heard of."
Locke said in a low voice, "Then you really should brush up on your knowledge. This way, it's easy for people to tell that you used to be a black wizard."
Hussein said softly, "Mm, you're right. The library at the Blood Curse Court... except for the grimoires with the highest level of confidentiality magic, they're all human books."
Seeing Locke show a puzzled expression, Hussein smiled and said, "That means using the brains and bloodlines of mortals to preserve certain knowledge. We only need to grasp the clues, and we can extract the knowledge we need from that mortal's bloodline."
"The knowledge we hide in their bloodlines using curse magic can be reproduced and inherited. I discovered the knowledge hidden within their bloodlines by excavating the bloodlines of ancestral descendants."
Locke pondered thoughtfully, "Sounds like some kind of knowledge inheritance primarily based on bloodline inheritance."
"Can't they obtain that knowledge themselves? But why make knowledge inheritance so complicated? Wouldn't it be better to just put it in a public library?"
Hussein said, "They cannot obtain that knowledge themselves, so this is different from the innate knowledge repository of bloodline inheritance that some magical creatures possess."
"But it does borrow from those principles."
"As for why not put it in a public library... heh, black wizards always treasure their brooms, worried that others will learn their knowledge, worried that after others learn their knowledge they won't receive the proper compensation, so they're keen on developing magic to hide specific knowledge."
Hussein raised his right hand and summoned something from the void. "Your white wizards' libraries are still better, each with its own characteristics. Compared to this, Lilith's Cottage's public library is relatively ordinary."
"Let me see what knowledge my heart summons now?"
Hussein looked at the thick magic book that appeared in his right hand and raised his eyebrows in surprise. "Encyclopedia of Contract Masters?"
"Hmm, recently I've indeed had thoughts about switching from Curse Master to Contract Master. That way I'll be able to get along better in your white wizard society."
"Moreover, the learning domains of Contract Master and Curse Master don't span a very large distance. It'll be relatively easy for me to switch, and Contract Masters have better prospects."
"I didn't expect that this First Circle visual illusion magic [Visual Desert] could really sense the knowledge I've wanted recently in my heart."
"Locke, why don't you try? I want to see what book your heart summons."
Locke glanced at him, raised his right hand, and at the same time didn't protect his mind. He used his heart's desires to summon from the entire library. Immediately, a book automatically appeared in his hand. Locke looked at it and raised his eyebrows. This was actually a magic book with a yellowed surface, with the title written on it: [Investigation Table of Ancient Creature Bloodline Genetic Lineages in the Mortal World of the Southeastern Quadrant].
Locke was slightly stunned, then looked at the author's name. After confirming that the other party was a First Circle crystallization wizard from over a thousand years ago who had passed away hundreds of years ago, he felt relieved.
Every time he saw articles and data related to ancient creature bloodlines on the white wizard side, it meant the author basically had some connection with black wizards.
Even he himself could be considered an archaeological scholar.
A First Circle universal knowledge doctoral student saw the books the two had chosen. He said to Hussein, "The Encyclopedia of Contract Masters in your hand is an Association A-level article, so you need to pay 20 contribution points to read it."
He looked at Locke and said, "The one in your hand is an Association S-level article. You need 50 contribution points to access it."
Locke had no objections. He had plenty of contribution points.
Previously, he had obtained 2,100 contribution points at the academy library. Later, when he studied potion studies, breeding, and botany, before advancing to formal wizard, he had used 1,100 of those contribution points to look up a large number of A-level articles.
But after advancing to formal wizard, he had consecutively published 5 Association A-level articles and 7 Association S-level articles in the White Wizard Association's public library.
Publishing 1 Association S-level article anywhere would earn 500 contribution points from that library.
1 Association A-level article corresponded to 200 contribution points, and 1 Association B-level, Academy A-level article corresponded to 100 contribution points.
In other words, he currently had 1,000 contribution points remaining at Lilith's Cottage, and 4,500 contribution points at the southeastern quadrant White Wizard Association.
The contribution point system was originally meant to be exchanged for extremely important advancement potions and wizard secret realm entry opportunities.
But in the southeastern quadrant, there were no secret realms corresponding to the formal wizard level, and on the contribution point exchange list, there were almost no particularly good First Circle magical plants or cost-effective First Circle magical spell models available for exchange.
Therefore, at the formal wizard stage, contribution points could almost only be used to access articles.
Thus, Locke didn't even blink as he indicated he would use contribution points to exchange for the borrowing opportunity for this book.
Since the Visual Desert spell model considered that his heart wanted this book, he indeed needed to take a good look at it.
'Before leaving, I also need to spend all my contribution points. I can exchange for a pile of articles I'm interested in from both large libraries and read them. These will all be part of my accumulation,' Locke thought. 'Using 4,500 points to exchange for Association S-level articles I'm interested in, I can get 90 books.'
'This is an astonishing quantity.'
For wizards, knowledge was power.
If a wizard could seriously read through 90 Association S-level articles or magic books, after finishing them, he would definitely be worthy of being looked at with new eyes after three days apart.
Locke said in a low voice, "It seems that before I leave the southeastern quadrant, I can come stay temporarily at the White Wizard headquarters for a while and properly settle down to accumulate knowledge in various fields."
Locke said to this First Circle wizard universal knowledge doctoral student of the White Wizard Association, "Mine. I'm Locke Augustine. This is my academy badge. Please help me exchange it."
The universal knowledge doctoral student, after seeing Locke's total contribution points, looked up at Locke in surprise, then his gaze toward Locke became extremely respectful. He bowed slightly to Locke. "You are truly a learned person. Previously missing your articles may have been my great loss. I'm very interested in those seven Association S-level articles you recently published. I will read them in the future."
Locke nodded at him and said, "Very well, wizard colleague. Exploring truth is precisely the main duty of us wizards." 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
Locke turned back but saw Hussein looking rather embarrassed. He looked at Hussein with confusion.
Hussein said to Locke in a low voice, "Locke, can you lend me 20 contribution points?"
Locke looked at him with surprise. "You don't even have 20 contribution points?"
Hussein was somewhat embarrassed. Hussein said to Locke in a voice only the two of them could hear, "I don't have any."
"How do you white wizards obtain contribution points?"
Locke thought for a moment, "Publish articles, do tasks, obtain competition rewards, complete certain special projects... there are quite a few ways."
