World-saving Plan: The Only Savior
Chapter 1711 - 22: Shadow Demon (2)
"Roooar!"
The monster was attacked and had to give up its plan of continuing the chase, switching its target to Eva instead.
Eva’s Longsword was a Dark Spiritual Artifact; even though the other side was a pure energy body monster, it could still inflict a certain amount of damage.
But unfortunately, precisely because the opponent was a pure energy body monster, the Longsword’s attack wasn’t very effective. After slightly slowing it down, the blade went straight through its body, and most of the physical attribute damage was ignored.
"Careful! Get down, quick!"
Even at such a critical moment, Eva didn’t forget to warn the baseball cap kid who’d been scared stupid beside her, then raised her hand and unleashed a Burst Spirit Skill.
A purple beam of Energy instantly pierced through the Shadow Demon’s body in front of her, but this one didn’t get one-shot like the first monster. After a bout of shuddering, its body actually re-condensed and lunged at her again.
"Damn it!"
Eva swung the Longsword in her hand and tangled with the monster, but judging from how she kept getting hit once or twice, the girl clearly wasn’t its match. If not for the Shield provided by the pendant on her chest, she probably would’ve already lost.
"Bang, bang, bang!"
Several gunshots suddenly rang out, echoing in the silent Dark Night for a long time.
Baseball Cap hurriedly turned his head and saw that the girl who’d been ambushed at the start was already standing, holding a strangely-shaped black pistol in her hand. The shots just now had come from that gun.
"Using a gun? Will that even work...?"
Baseball Cap almost instinctively had that thought, but just as it popped up, he heard the monster’s grating roar in his ears.
"Roar roar roar!"
He saw the Shadow Demon monster, after being hit by several of Su Kuangkuan’s shots, twitch and collapse limply to the ground. Its body looked like it was being burned by fierce flames; one hole after another spread at a speed visible to the naked eye, quickly spreading over its entire body before it finally just dissipated.
"Huff, huff~"
Su Kuangkuan lowered the gun, her palms slick with sweat.
The sudden ambush just now had caught her completely off guard. Fortunately, she had her brother’s Huang Dao Soft Armor protecting her, so she wasn’t hurt.
But experiencing something like this in real life for the first time made her heartbeat ramp up several gears. Even though the monster was already dead now, she still couldn’t calm down for a while.
"Kuangkuan! You were amazing!"
Gasping for breath, Eva still didn’t forget to give her teammate a thumbs-up in words.
This Shadow Demon monster was way too troublesome, much stronger than the one Su Kuangkuan had killed at the start.
Thankfully, Su Kuangkuan made a snap decision and attacked directly with Holy Water. Under the powerful restraint, that Shadow Demon just died on the spot.
That’s right, the bullets loaded in Su Kuangkuan’s pistol weren’t ordinary ones, but specially modified Holy Water Bullets.
The Shadow Demon’s body was an energy body, immune to physical attacks, but when the bullets passed through its body, the Holy Water inside them made contact with it, serving it a full Death set meal.
"Kuangkuan, are you okay?"
Eva hurried over to check Su Kuangkuan’s wounds.
"I’m fine. Are you okay?"
Su Kuangkuan forced a smile. Even though she’d been scared half to death just now, the Huang Dao Soft Armor had done its job, and she hadn’t been hurt.
"I’m fine. When did this monster get here? It hid so deep it actually evaded our Spirit Detection Technique..."
"This should be a Second Level Shadow Demon, an Evolved Body of the Shadow Demon. The instructor said Shadow Demons have extremely advanced hiding methods. Ordinary Spirit Detection Techniques can’t detect them at all; only more Advanced Spiritual Vision can spot their tracks..."
After thinking for a moment, Su Kuangkuan gave her answer.
The Shadow Demon Star Alliance had encountered these things before, so they were recorded in the data of the ’Alien Species Manual’.
"So what do we do now? Should we contact Uncle Lu?"
Eva looked around at the surroundings. A fall into the pit, a gain in the wit—the lesson just now was still vivid in her mind. She too started staying on guard, wary of whether there were any Alien Species left nearby.
"You contact Uncle Lu, I’ll keep watch."
As Su Kuangkuan spoke, she took out two scrolls from her Space Ring, one for herself and one for Eva. After tearing them, the silvery-white light in their eyes was replaced by a golden hue.
These were Spiritual Vision scrolls!
"The Spirit-detecting Compass has already been interfered with. We’re currently inside an illusion constructed by Shadow Demons. Only Spiritual Vision can find the targets..." 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
But just as the two of them applied Spiritual Vision, the scene they saw the next second made them both suck in a sharp breath.
"So many...monsters..."
Within the perception of Dark Spiritual Power, the two of them were already surrounded by dozens of monsters. Judging from their twisted postures, they were all even more powerful Shadow Demons. No wonder they hadn’t sensed anything earlier.
"Well? Did you reach Uncle Lu?"
"I’m establishing the connection. The signal is being interfered with; I’m switching to a Dark Spiritual Power transmission channel..."
Seeing this, Baseball Cap didn’t know what the two girls were talking about, but he understood he’d fallen into an even greater crisis. His face went pale with fear, and he hurriedly raised his wrist to call the police.
It wasn’t that he doubted the strength of the two Transcendents, but this was his own life on the line. The more people that could come rescue him, the safer he’d be, right?
Only, his wristband display was already a blur. Forget having a signal—right now even its normal functions were affected.
"Zzzzt~"
As if to echo his confusion, the streetlights around them went out one after another. The interference from the monster environment caused all electronic devices here to stop working, plunging the street into pitch blackness.
"Lighting Technique!"
Eva raised her hand and released a Little Light that shone with intense radiance, letting the Light Ball hover above their heads.
With the appearance of the Light Ball, the surrounding darkness was instantly swept away. Baseball Cap could even see several twisted Black Shadows flicker and vanish, retreating back into the shadows not far away.
Su Kuangkuan and Eva’s Star Network Terminals were naturally not something as ordinary as Baseball Cap’s wristband. After establishing a Dark Spiritual Power transmission channel, they finally got in touch with Lu Lin Haohan outside.
"Eva, Kuangkuan, how are you holding up!?"
Before they could speak, Lu Lin Haohan’s anxious voice came from the other end. Through the projection, the two girls saw that Uncle Lu seemed to be fighting something.
"We’re surrounded by a ton of Shadow Demons! Uncle Lu, what’s happening on your side?"
Su Kuangkuan said succinctly.
Brother Hero smashed apart a monster beside him with one swing, then engaged another, squeezing out time in the middle of the battle to respond:
"Not good at all. Listen, the assessment is over. You two need to find an open area immediately and use the Lighting Technique to stall for as long as you can. I’m rushing to you at full speed right now. It’s not just Malt Street—several nearby streets have already been shrouded by the Shadow Demons’ Shadow Barrier. Ordinary Teleport methods are completely unusable. These monsters are very strong. Do not act rashly. Wait for me!"
"Okay, Uncle Lu! We’ll definitely wait for you!"
At this point, the two girls had no intention of showing off by killing monsters. They nodded obediently and agreed.
"What do we do? What on earth is happening here? How did so many monsters suddenly show up? Where did they all come from?"
"No idea. But Uncle Lu said he’s coming to rescue us. Let’s go over there—no buildings blocking the way. We’ll cast a few more Lighting Techniques, that should let us stall for a while."
The two girls tried their best to act calm, but from their eyes it was clear that neither of them was anywhere near calm inside.
Baseball Cap followed them to an open area at the side of the street and suddenly felt that maybe he’d misunderstood something from the start—how come these two girls seemed just a little bit unreliable?
