Chapter 314 - 313: Alchemist Examination
「Two days later.」
In the Alchemy Room, a flash of light flared from the body of a youth clad in Battle Armor, and the armor vanished like ripples on water.
CRACKLE! POP!
His body trembled. A sound like bones groaning, cracking, and grinding echoed from deep within Qin Feng’s frame. His tendons hummed like the string of a peerless treasure bow, thrumming with power.
A crimson-gold Spirit Vein coiled around Qin Feng’s body like a soaring Spiritual Serpent. Looking inward, he saw tiny strands of crimson-gold flame tempering every inch of his flesh and bone, every meridian and pore.
Countless bits of his flesh and bone were destroyed by the tyrannical flame, but always, a sliver of Essence Blood would survive the destruction, reborn with stronger vitality and more resilient power.
The aura around him grew purer, like Hundred-refined Refined Iron.
Half an hour later, Qin Feng took a deep breath. The crimson-gold flames around him suddenly coiled back through his pores, retreating into his body.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
It felt as if countless flames were exploding inside him. His skin vibrated violently, Spiritual Light seeped from his flesh, and tangible, flame-like patterns surfaced on his skin.
One pattern was tyrannical, like the sun in the sky. Another was blood-red, with the power to destroy heaven and earth. A third was golden, like an Ancient Saint Emperor exuding world-dominating might.
When Qin Feng opened his eyes, a flame burned within them, as if it could melt the very Void.
Qin Feng muttered to himself, "I almost got burned playing with fire!"
Recalling the recent events, a trace of fear flashed in his eyes. ’That was too close. I thought that with my previous life’s attainments in Alchemy, I’d be able to harmonize several Spirit Fires at once. I never imagined I’d overestimate myself so badly!’
’Luckily, the Heavenly Dao Level Star True Power was far more profound than I could have imagined. It suppressed the conflict between the three Spirit Fires! Otherwise, the consequences would have been unthinkable!’
Feeling relieved, Qin Feng lifted his arm. With just a slight movement, a surge of ferocious power welled up.
The corner of his mouth twitched. This had been a blessing in disguise. Tempered by the three Spirit Fires, his Eight Desolates Undying Body had reached a new level.
He now had a feeling that even if someone were to crush his hands and feet, he could slowly regrow them over time.
’Forget it. I should come out of seclusion for now. There’s not much point in continuing.’
Qin Feng mused.
He simply couldn’t condense multiple Spirit Fires at once; three was already his limit.
Not unless he completely subdued the three Spirit Fires. Only then could he attempt to condense a fourth.
Qin Feng wasn’t too worried. It would just take some time to get them under control.
He was a Demigod Level Alchemy Grandmaster with an extraordinary understanding of the Mystical Meaning behind Spirit Fire. Given enough time, he was confident he could subjugate all three.
Qin Feng glanced down at himself. The Battle Armor was gone. Two days had been enough for him to completely perform the Refinement on the Abyss Battle Armor.
The Battle Armor had transformed into a ray of blood-red starlight and retreated into his Dantian, ready to reappear whenever he summoned it.
After a final glance around the Alchemy Room, Qin Feng walked to the entrance of his Cave Mansion.
He removed the Token from the door.
RUMBLE!
The heavy stone door of the Cave Mansion rumbled open.
A quarter of an hour later, Qin Feng appeared in the Alchemy Master Hall.
The Alchemy Master Hall was bustling with an unusual crowd. The normally spacious Alchemy Hall felt somewhat cramped. Groups of Alchemists in black robes were whispering amongst themselves, seemingly waiting for something.
To his surprise, Qin Feng saw that at least a hundred Alchemists in their standard-issue black robes had gathered here.
It wasn’t just Alchemist Apprentices; Qin Feng also spotted many official Alchemists in the crowd, including some Second-grade Alchemists and even a few rare Third Grade Alchemists.
The hall was buzzing with excitement. In the crowd, Qin Feng even spotted some of the more famous young talents from All Stars Academy. Many of these young men and women were high-ranking geniuses on the Star Rankings.
These people were known as Little Giants.
As Qin Feng made his way through, he saw some beautiful young women gathered around the main Alchemy hall, craning their necks in anticipation.
He had no idea what they were all looking at.
Puzzled, Qin Feng paused for a moment before walking over to the counter in a few steps. Behind it, a young female Alchemist Apprentice in a black robe was staring intently at a book titled ’Basic of Alchemist’.
With a THUD, Qin Feng placed the Token on the counter.
"Oh, it’s you!" The female apprentice in the black robe looked up and recognized a familiar figure.
’It’s that Level 0 Alchemist who came to ’experience’ the Alchemy Room!’
The female Alchemist Apprentice had a strange look on her face.
Qin Feng glanced at the girl but didn’t pay much mind to her thoughts.
He glanced around. The Alchemy Guild was unusually lively today.
Such a bustling scene was a rare sight.
Watching the surrounding Alchemists, each with their unique temperament and a faint air of pride, Qin Feng knew them well. Alchemists were even more aloof than Mystic Masters, Inscription Masters, or Artifact Refiners, and they rarely mingled with outsiders.
He was quite curious about what could have possibly drawn all of them out at once.
Just then, a commotion broke out at the entrance to the Alchemy Hall.
Qin Feng turned to look. It seemed some important figures had arrived.
The many young talents at the entrance to the Alchemy Hall automatically parted, the crowded throng making way for them.
Two Alchemists in black robes led the way inside.
Qin Feng narrowed his eyes. Judging by their attire, the two leading Alchemists were actually Sixth Grade Alchemists.
From the way people around were addressing them, these two were apparently the President and Vice President of the All Stars Academy’s Alchemist Guild.
One of the old men was Master Zhuang He, the master of Yue Ji and Ji Huang’Er.
The other, an old man with yellow eyebrows, was Vice President Master Long Mei.
There was also a Fifth-Grade Alchemist, Master Lianshan, followed by a number of distinguished Fourth Grade Alchemists.
Following behind the two masters was a crowd of young men and women. Qin Feng recognized a few familiar figures, including the peerless beauty Yue Ji, with her graceful, slender figure and a full head of silvery hair.
Behind Yue Ji was Ji Huang’Er, along with five or six other disciples of Master Zhuang He. Each one was an outstanding talent in their own right, and all were well-known.
Most of these young men and women were Second-grade Alchemists; only one rather young-looking boy wore the black robe of a First-grade Alchemist.
On the other side were Master Long Mei’s disciples, led by none other than Ye Ding—the very person who had threatened to make trouble for Qin Feng.
Ye Ding had high-arched eyebrows and upturned lips. His hair was bound in an ornate crown, and today he wore a standard-issue black robe with large, flowing sleeves. His star-like eyes gleamed with confidence, and he carried himself with a handsome yet overbearing aura.
Ye Ding seemed to notice Qin Feng’s gaze. He turned his head, his eyes sweeping over to Qin Feng at the counter. He recognized him, shot him a dismissive glance, and immediately looked away. From his lofty position, he had no need to pay any mind to a mere ant.
Qin Feng frowned. This wasn’t just disdain; it was complete disregard.
The group proceeded toward the center of the hall with great pomp and circumstance.
Qin Feng keenly sensed that when many of the black-robed Alchemists looked at Ye Ding, their gazes held faint traces of envy and awe.
It was as if, today, Ye Ding was the center of the Alchemist Guild.
Qin Feng glanced over and saw that the female apprentice behind the counter now had stars in her eyes, looking as if she was about to pounce on Ye Ding at any moment.
Qin Feng raised an eyebrow, a glint in his eye as he asked, "Excuse me, did something big happen today? To have drawn so many Alchemists?"
"Sir, today’s a huge day! Senior Brother Ye Ding is taking the examination for Fourth Grade Alchemist! A Fourth Grade Alchemist! To advance to Fourth Grade before even reaching his thirties... In the entire City of Many Stars, only he and Senior Sister Yue Ji have managed that!"
The female apprentice’s eyes shone, her gaze misty and charming. Her big eyes were fixed on Ye Ding’s departing figure, practically overflowing with adoration.
’So, it’s an Alchemist examination. A Fourth Grade Alchemist, is it?’ A profound light flickered in Qin Feng’s eyes, and a cold smile touched his lips.
He turned back to the still-swooning apprentice. "Sign me up, please! Get me an application form."
"An application for what?"
"The Alchemist examination!"
