Zombie Apocalypse: I Have Safe Zone Superpower
Chapter 683: Eugenia And Valer
For a moment, silence filled the room. Then Ivy suddenly chuckled softly.
The amusement in her eyes carried a terrifying coldness.
"You all almost caused the apocalypse," Ivy replied calmly. "Millions of humans could have died because of you all, and you are asking me why I am torturing you all?"
Hearing that, Paris awkwardly smiled before giving a dry laugh.
"So... are you some kind of saviors of humanity now?"
Ivy merely shook her head slowly.
"No," she replied quietly.
’In my previous life, even my own family and lover died because of my foolishness and you beings,’ she thought.
"I am suffering too because of this apocalypse. Did you forget that already?"
Those words instantly silenced the room.
Without saying anything further, Ivy waved her hand and exited the space.
The reason she was so ruthless toward these superior beings was never that she wanted to become some heroic savior of humanity.
She understood humanity better than anyone.
Humanity was flawed. They were selfish, cruel, and greedy.
But despite all that, humanity was still necessary for her survival.
If these superior beings truly descended upon Earth completely, then ordinary humans would become nothing more than disposable livestock to them.
At one point, Ivy had considered escaping into space instead.
However, compared to beings capable of traveling faster than light and approaching Earth from another world entirely, how could she possibly guarantee her own safety in space?
That option was meaningless.
Then there were the underground bunkers.
But they will fail too; after all, those superior beings will definitely try to find her and may destroy the earth itself to kill her.
If she wanted to survive, she needed strength.
And true strength required human civilization itself to remain standing.
Rather than saving humanity, it would be more accurate to say that humanity had become her shield.
Taking a deep breath, Ivy finally returned to her room.
A short while later, Silas arrived quietly.
The moment he saw the exhaustion and frustration lingering on Ivy’s face, his expression softened immediately. Without saying much, he gently pulled her into his arms and held her close.
The warmth of his embrace slowly eased some of the tension in her trembling body.
"What happened?" Isabella asked softly while gently stroking her hair.
Ivy buried her face against his chest before hugging him tightly in return.
"I don’t know," she murmured weakly. "I just... feel very low today."
Her voice sounded unusually fragile.
"Today, I tortured Ariana to extract as much information as possible," Ivy continued quietly. "But from her answers... I can tell that something dangerous is approaching us."
This time, it was Silas’s turn to grow grim.
The moment he heard Ivy’s words, his expression darkened slightly, and his arms instinctively tightened around her trembling body.
Even though the danger closing in on them sounded terrifying, Silas did not allow panic to appear on his face.
As long as they were together, they would deal with everything together.
That was what he believed.
Slowly lowering his head, Silas gently kissed Ivy’s forehead before whispering softly,
"Don’t worry. Everything will turn out fine."
His voice carried an unusual steadiness that slowly calmed the storm raging inside Ivy’s chest.
"If this second chance was truly given to you," Silas continued quietly, "then it must have some kind of meaning behind it."
Hearing those words, Ivy gave him a subtle nod before slowly leaning deeper into his embrace.
Feeling the warmth surrounding her body, she finally allowed herself to close her eyes.
However, the moment she opened them again, everything had changed. Ivy froze instantly.
The city before her looked futuristic beyond imagination.
Towering silver structures stretched endlessly toward the heavens, their surfaces glowing faintly beneath an enormous sky.
Strange floating vehicles moved silently through the air, leaving shimmering trails of light behind them.
The entire place matched perfectly with the descriptions Jade once gave her.
This was the world the superior beings came from. Slowly, Ivy raised her head toward the sky.
The moment she did, her heart skipped violently.
Three moons hung above the heavens.
Her gaze slowly wandered around the bustling streets.
Numerous superior beings walked around casually, yet this time their appearances were no longer blurry like before. Ivy could see every single one of them clearly.
And what she saw left her stunned.
Some possessed silver hair, while others had pure white hair.
A few even had strange facial structures, including pairs of eyes that looked unnaturally symmetrical or faint markings glowing beneath their skin.
However, one thing remained common among all of them.
None of them had black hair. Not a single one.
Suppressing the unease crawling beneath her skin, Ivy slowly walked forward through the crowded streets.
Yet strangely enough, none of the superior beings reacted to her presence at all. It was almost as if she did not exist.
Her body continued moving on instinct alone. Soon, fragments of conversation entered her ears.
"Did you hear? Princess Catalina has officially become one of the strongest candidates for the throne."
"I also heard Prince Frederick recently donated a massive amount of core crystals to the royal treasury."
"Princess Ivy is even more impressive, though."
The moment she heard her own name, Ivy froze completely.
Except they were not calling her Ivy. They were calling her Princess Ivy.
Her entire body stiffened. The people nearby continued gossiping casually.
"When Princess Ivy first arrived here, she was completely blind and powerless."
"Yet after coming here, not only did she recover, but she even became one of the king’s trusted confidants."
"It is said her chances of inheriting the throne are becoming higher and higher."
Hearing those words, confusion exploded inside Ivy’s mind.
’Princess... Ivy?’
More voices soon entered her ears.
"I heard Princess Ivy was retrieved from Earth after the previous princesses failed."
"Princess Eugenia and Prince Valer are still the most beloved, though."
"Those two are practically idols among the younger generation."
As the names "Eugenia" and "Valer" echoed repeatedly around her, Ivy suddenly felt a strange burning sensation deep inside her chest.
It was painful. Yearning. Bitterness.
The emotions were so complicated that even she could not understand them.
Just as Ivy tried to listen further, everything around her suddenly vanished.
