Zombie Bodyguard
Chapter 1839 - 1836: Zhang Family Visitors
The black aura descended suddenly, mysteriously, and quickly, but Lin Tian was even faster. He took a step forward and struck the black aura with a punch, his fist simultaneously igniting in purple flames. The black aura was melted away like ice and snow by the purple flames.
Wu Xiuluo glanced at Lin Tian’s purple flames, her gaze flickering briefly. However, she didn’t ask anything and instead calmly said, "Thank you."
"No need to thank me. Even if I hadn’t intervened, it wouldn’t have hurt you, just caused some trouble at most," Lin Tian replied nonchalantly.
However, the changes in the situation were beyond Lin Tian’s expectations. The Yin Sha Qi carried by the Ghost Worm was actually strong enough to counterattack.
Wu Xiuluo said nothing further but strengthened the golden light in her hands, flexible yet not glaring, as it seeped into Zhao Weitao’s head.
As the golden light infiltrated, Zhao Weitao suddenly started trembling violently, his limbs twisting and contracting uncontrollably, like Zhenzi crawling out of a television screen—mechanical and eerie.
"Creak... creak..." Unconscious sounds emerged from his throat, his expression pained beyond measure, as if possessed by a phantom, beyond his own control.
"Senior Sister Xiuluo, stop it, or he’ll be ruined if this goes further." Lin Tian frowned and reminded her.
An ordinary person’s capacity for pain is limited. Once Zhao Weitao can no longer endure it, he might suffer mental issues, leaving behind sequelae at best, or becoming a fool at worst, rendering any treatment futile.
Wu Xiuluo furrowed her brows lightly, unwilling as she was, she reluctantly withdrew her hands. As soon as the golden light was removed, Zhao Weitao calmed down, and the agony on his face reduced significantly.
"Once a Ghost Worm parasitizes a human body, it becomes very tricky. It’s nearly impossible to eradicate them while ensuring the host’s safety," Lin Tian said solemnly.
"Does it mean only destroying the host can solve this? So many innocent lives," Wu Xiuluo’s face showed a compassionate expression.
Although Lin Tian knew he shouldn’t think of unrelated matters at that moment, he couldn’t help but find Wu Xiuluo’s expression bizarre. Most people might simply sympathize, but Wu Xiuluo seemed to genuinely sorrow for the suffering of others.
Such an expression on a mortal’s face was indeed perplexing; it seemed more befitting of a deity’s.
"We haven’t reached a dead end yet, don’t give up," Lin Tian, thinking she had lost hope, instinctively offered a word of comfort.
"Let’s hope so," Wu Xiuluo said calmly, with no significant emotional fluctuation. "I’m heading back. Be careful yourself."
Wu Xiuluo didn’t make another attempt. She merely reminded Lin Tian, then turned and left the isolation ward. Lin Tian pulled back the curtains and saw her say something to Director Liang in the hallway. Director Liang showed a regretful expression.
Lin Tian didn’t need to hear to know what she said, but he didn’t dwell on it. Instead, he began performing acupuncture on Zhao Weitao. Although Zhao Weitao was always at odds with him, Lin Tian wouldn’t take the opportunity to harm him or deliberately withhold treatment, lest he betray Elder Jiang’s trust—a physician’s trust.
Of course, he wouldn’t stoop to striking at a half-dead person either.
After completing the acupuncture, Lin Tian walked out of the isolation ward and saw Mu Binglan eating a boxed meal in the hallway. Upon seeing Lin Tian emerge, Mu Binglan promptly stood up. "Lin Tian, I thought you were too busy to have time to eat, so I ordered an extra portion for you."
Lin Tian accepted it without ceremony and began eating with her in the hallway.
"Mu Binglan, are you planning on staying in the hospital indefinitely?" Lin Tian asked casually.
"Yes, I have already taken leave from my advisor. I will be here with Xiaoyi during this time," Mu Binglan replied resolutely.
"What if he can’t be healed?" Lin Tian remarked lightly.
"If he dies, my life will go with him. He became like this to save me," Mu Binglan said something truly shocking, without the typical tearful sadness, and her expression showed she meant it.
Lin Tian took a few bites, set down the box, and said, "I see, you like Xiaoyi?"
Mu Binglan, however, shook her head. "I’m not sure, I just feel someone as kind as Xiaoyi shouldn’t endure such suffering."
Lin Tian nodded, asked no more, and after quickly finishing his meal, continued acupuncture in other isolation wards. Lin Tian eventually saw a third-rate actress who had been brought in. When he entered, the actress was throwing a tantrum at two nurses. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
"Is this garbage food fit for human consumption? Give me my phone, I want to order room service from the hotel," the actress yelled, brimming with energy.
Those who just came in were always like this; Liu Yuansi was no better initially.
"You two leave, let me handle this," Lin Tian waved his hand, dismissing the two nurses, who left gratefully, having had enough of the actress’s foul mood.
"Who are you?" the actress asked, surprised as Lin Tian removed his protective mask. At the same time, she realized, the young man before her was more handsome than any male star she had met.
"I’m Dr. Lin Tian. I advise you to eat properly. This is a nutritional meal specially designed by the hospital for this disease. If you don’t eat normally, and your nutrition can’t keep up, we can only insert tubes into you to supply you with nutrient solutions," Lin Tian said coldly.
"I don’t want tubes inserted in me; hurry up and cure me. I don’t want to stay here," the actress’s tone softened considerably.
"This disease is highly infectious; you can’t leave," Lin Tian stated plainly.
"Everyone says this; do I have to stay in the hospital for life? How about I tell you a secret, and you treat me in return? I heard the nurses gossiping. It’s about a very handsome, brilliant doctor who came to the hospital. They were talking about you, weren’t they?" The actress started chatting with Lin Tian.
"What secret?" Lin Tian frowned, sensing a bad omen.
The actress snorted lightly and said, "Since I’m in here anyway, I’m not afraid to tell you. I’ve had affairs with the assistant director, scriptwriter, and director of the film crew, but they haven’t entered the hospital yet. You’d better bring them in too, or who knows how many more women they’ll harm."
Lin Tian’s expression changed and he harshly replied, "Why didn’t you say this when you came in, damn it..."
After saying this, he took out his phone and immediately dialed Thunder Wolf’s number. After a few rings, it was answered, "Thunder Wolf, don’t ask, immediately investigate that actress’s crew..."
"Damn, that actress did it on purpose, right?" After listening to Lin Tian, Thunder Wolf cursed, but just as he was about to yell again, he suddenly stopped. Lin Tian heard the faint sound of standing at attention and then a unified shout of "Instructor."
Instructor? Luoxi is back? Lin Tian was puzzled, and sure enough, Ning Luoxi’s voice came through the phone: "Lin Tian, it’s Ning Luoxi. I’m back."
"Just in time, quickly increase manpower; more and more patients are coming to the hospital. Something’s bound to happen," Lin Tian warned.
"Let this matter rest for now. Come to the affiliated hospital. The Zhang Family has sent someone. We’re coming over to find you now," Ning Luoxi said solemnly.
