Zombie Bodyguard
Chapter 1851 - 1848: Hell Netherfire (Part 2)
Looking at the scene before her, Xiao Manxuan suddenly felt a stabbing pain in her head, followed by some strange images appearing in her mind. There seemed to be Lin Tian, herself, a bridge, a river—images that were disjointed and couldn’t be pieced together seamlessly.
The pain came swiftly and went just as fast, and the images disappeared without a trace. The little girl shook her head, feeling puzzled, but unable to make sense of it all.
She stopped pondering and instead asked Zhang Heyuan, "Old Zhang, are they all ghosts?"
When asking this, Xiao Manxuan wasn’t as afraid as she imagined she would be; rather, she was somewhat curious. Having seen many bizarre things with Lin Tian, her nerves had become quite robust.
"Ahem, young lady, how should I answer this? They are ghosts, yet not ghosts; in short, there’s a difference between them and actual ghosts." Zhang Heyuan, who was usually knowledgeable, was stumped by this question.
Ghost Messengers aren’t ghosts, but like ghosts, Ghost Messengers are also yin souls.
At this moment, Lord Wuchang and the Ghost Messengers reclaimed the Reincarnation Light, and the black hole above disappeared. With the Reincarnation Light gone, Lin Tian stood there perfectly fine, completely unharmed.
A zombie’s body is undead and indestructible, not falling into the six paths, nor entering reincarnation. Trying to use Reincarnation Light to bind Lin Tian’s soul was nothing but a joke.
Lin Tian curled his lip and said something that made everyone present, both human and Ghost Messenger, dumbfounded: "Letting out light so late at night—you know about light pollution, right? You know you’re disturbing the peace, right? Should I call the cops on you all, have you fined, make you write a public apology?"
"Uh, right—are you going to pay the fines with joss paper? That stuff doesn’t work in the mortal realm, it seems like you’ll be stuck eating prison food, or you might have to get your boss to bail you out. Judge Cui won’t cut it, probably needs the Netherworld King to show up." Lin Tian teased with a grin, and the Ghost Messengers’ pale faces turned dark with anger.
Xiao Manxuan let out a burst of laughter. In such a serious scene, she couldn’t hold it in; rather, Lin Tian was simply too irreverent. The more tense and oppressive the situation, the more composed Lin Tian became—even if you called it irreverence.
The Ghost Messengers’ faces were dry, and Lord Wuchang was outraged with embarrassment: "Ignorant child, you dare insult the Netherworld!"
Lin Tian sneered disdainfully, "The ones bringing shame to the Netherworld are you all, not me. If you weren’t disgraceful, who could possibly humiliate you?"
"Master Zhang, this person is immune to Reincarnation Light; he must be a demon. Why not make a move and capture him?" Lord Wuchang’s face twitched, he turned to Zhang Heyuan, trying to use Zhang Heyuan as a pawn. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
Slaying demons and exorcising devils is the Demon Exorcist’s duty, and Lord Wuchang wanted to drag Zhang Heyuan into the fray.
Zhang Heyuan blinked, then pretended to look around innocently, saying, "What did Lord Wuchang say? I didn’t rub ox tears in my eyes just now; I saw nothing. Who did you say is a demon? Let him reveal himself so I can take a look."
"You...," Lord Wuchang was momentarily speechless, his expression turning icy, "I’ll make him show his true form!"
"Netherworld Soul Search..." Lord Wuchang issued a command, and the Ghost Messengers sprang into action, performing very eerie movements—like ghost shadows dancing, or conducting a ritual.
Suddenly, countless black vapors emerged from beneath Lin Tian’s feet, entwining around his feet; Lin Tian felt his legs grow heavy, as if he were being pulled underground.
"Lin Tian, be careful! Netherworld Soul Search is endless; once entangled, you won’t be able to break free!" Zhang Heyuan loudly warned.
Lin Tian’s eyes sharpened, and his legs trembled, dispersing the black vapors; yet more black vapors spread forth.
At the same time, the Ghost Messengers transformed into a stream of black vapors, disappearing and then reappearing around Lin Tian. With a simultaneous pull, a large black net descended upon Lin Tian.
"Get lost!" Lin Tian shouted, his right hand grasping out of thin air, a large purple sword materialized—the Heavenly Tribulation Sword was naturally Lin Tian’s.
"What kind of magic artifact is this? So powerful." Zhang Heyuan’s eyes shone, thinking the Heavenly Tribulation Sword was a magic artifact.
Appearing out of nowhere, it looked like a magic artifact; no wonder the old man mistook it.
Lin Tian swung the Heavenly Tribulation Sword in a horizontal sweep, striking three Ghost Messengers who split into two halves before transforming into three wisps of cyan smoke, disappearing. The large black net was also slashed open, leaving a large hole.
"Die!" Lord Wuchang seized the opportunity to soar up, raising the Netherworld King Order in hand. The token expanded in the wind, becoming longer and wider; in less than half a breath, the palm-sized token turned into a ruler-like object over a meter long.
Wuchang wielded the ruler, slashing down silently, stealthily, like a ghostly apparition. But Lin Tian, who bore the brunt of the attack, felt the thunderous force.
Lin Tian gripped the sword handle with both hands, swinging upwards forcefully. At the clashing noise, the Heavenly Tribulation Sword and the ruler collided. A massive force surged like a torrent; with a crack, the ground split open, and Lin Tian was driven into the earth like a stake, half of his leg buried into the soil.
"How foolish, mere ordinary iron trying to shine against the Netherworld King Order!" Wuchang sneered at Lin Tian, flying into the air, waving a hand to release a banner, which flew out, planting itself atop a building.
At the instant the banner was planted, a puff of black smoke rose from the rooftop, revealing a person in white attire. This person was the exact opposite of Lord Wuchang, with an unnaturally white face, like a corpse’s face powdered over, looking exceedingly terrifying.
"White Impermanence!" Zhang Heyuan shouted in surprise.
White Impermanence on the rooftop took out a matching flag, chanting incantations: "Nether Banner Return, Seal!"
A light screen rose from Lin Tian’s feet, completely enveloping him. All of this happened in the blink of an eye.
"You think, after killing a few Ghost Messengers, you truly believe you’re invincible and can challenge the Netherworld?" Lord Wuchang coldly laughed at Lin Tian who was trapped within the seal.
Lin Tian raised the Heavenly Tribulation Sword, its blade suddenly igniting with purple flames, a sword strike slashed out, purple sword shadows flickering, hitting the light screen. With a crack, the light screen showed cracks like shattered glass, frightening Black Impermanence who had just finished speaking his harsh words.
"Netherworld King Order, suppress." Black Impermanence tossed out the ruler, returning it to its palm-sized form, suspending it above Lin Tian’s head. The previously cracked light screen swiftly healed; in almost an instant, the barrier sealing Lin Tian not only recovered but became even stronger.
"Master, I sense the barrier is too strong—no, it’s the Netherworld King Order that’s too strong. The barrier has its support; we can’t get out." The Sword Spirit called out in Lin Tian’s mind.
"I refuse to accept defeat." Lin Tian readied the Heavenly Tribulation Sword, assuming a familiar starting stance, then countless sword shadows appeared, carrying purple flames, all striking the barrier.
Sword Energy Cross!
The Heavenly Tribulation Sword paired with purple flames unleashed Sword Energy Cross, even Tang Xuan Su wouldn’t dare take it head-on. But even such ferocious sword shadows, upon striking the barrier, vanished like mud cows into the sea.
"Old Zhang, Lin Tian..." Xiao Manxuan said nervously.
"Once the Netherworld King Order appears, I knew this would be the outcome..." Old Zhang shook his head.
As he spoke, the Blood Moon cast another beam of red light, piercing into the campus; a more intense aura swept over. The already raging Blood Evil seemed to gain consciousness, charging in one direction, shaking the Demon Sealing Barrier to the point it creaked, seeming on the verge of shattering.
