Chapter 74: Land of the Undefeated [7] (Long Chapter)

In a dark and spacious room, lit only by the light coming from a triangle screen.

There, on the screen were two figures fighting facing each other.

One was dressed in dark plate armor, holding a long and dark sword in their hands, while the other wore a more casual cloth with a trench coat, and no weapon in their hands.

They both faced each other as though they were looking and trying to figure out the other person’s weakness. And not knowing that there was something or someone watching their every movement.

"Hm... I gave her the power to use mana even though I never thought she would be needing it."

The words left the administrator’s lips as he stared at the screen that displayed Aegon and Cancer.

He was standing behind a hospital-like bed, his hands in white gloves that were partially stained with red blood.

Laid on the best was the body of a specimen, their stomach opened and the organs inside could be seen.

He was in his workshop inside the castle, while watching the fight on the screen.

The screen was coming from a small box that looked like a project, yet not the same. The inside of the box did not direct the light to the wall, but above it.

The light came out in a v-like shape from the box and displayed in the air above the box in a triangle form.

In the administrator’s hands, he held a dissecting instrument for his work, but his attention was forced on the screen before him.

"Oh? It looks like she had found what he’s using for his defense, at that girl."

The administrator was able to tell what Cancer was doing even though he wasn’t near her.

This was because she had an affinity to him as her creator and he could almost sense her every thought.

The administrator’s moved from Cancer to Aegon; "Hm, that’s indeed a special ability, where did he get that from?"

He had a puzzled expression, as he bent his head slightly to the left for a better view, using the glasses on his face.

"That ability of his, it’s unique, I have never seen anything like that before. Even from strong opponents I have seen in all the battles I have been in."

"His mana is surrounding him like a bubble cloak. No, more like a suit, an armor?"

The administrator brought his neck back to the normal position, and using his index finger from his right hand, he pushed up his glasses.

"I have never seen or heard of a way to use mana like that. From all the humans I have fought and worked on, none of them has ever displayed this form of mana manipulation."

"Because of the mana armor, he was able to stop her blade with his bare hands. Such incredible talent."

The administrator licked his lips in amusement. He had been watching the battle between Aegon and Cancer from the beginning and has been accessing the situation.

This was the sole reason why he was able to claim Aegon was cheating by using mana and Cancer wasn’t. And because she might have been destroyed, he granted her the ability to use mana.

Cancer was his creation that he had worked on for over a decade, so it was reasonable that he was able to slide mana manipulation into her body.

"This is going to be interesting, I can’t wait to see how it will unfold."

The administrator turned his gaze to the specimen who was laid on the hospital-like bed, and;

"Thank you for bringing such a wonderful human to me. I guess your people noticed the disappearance of all of you in the abyss and sent a stronger human to investigate?"

"I can respect that. Even I would do the same."

The specimen who was laid on the hospital-like bed was a human completely undressed.

They were unalive, their eyes closed and life out of them, but they were still available because they were once a human awakener which the administrator was using for his research.

"Oh it’s starting..."

His gaze turned back to the screen and watched as Cancer was making her move.

It was at this moment that, Cancer dropped low with her legs bent like a spring, hands locked on her sword engulfed with mana, and in a sudden burst of dark energy, she launched forward like a force that was almost instant

"-_-"

Aegon saw her sudden move and his lips curved up.

Cancer moved with a high intensity of energy, her speed reaching the sound barrier.

She crossed the speed of sound, her blade held with both hands at her front, stretched out to Aegon.

However, Aegon engulfed his hands with mana more than he even used the last time.

Then, as Cancer reached him, her sword nearly, almost piercing his stomach, Aegon moved to his right in less than a quarter of a second and brought his hand to land a blow.

However, Cancer’s eyes moved quickly and seeing his incoming strike, she jumped up and twisted her body, changing her trajectory; a move she couldn’t do before.

Aegon’s blow hit the air, nothing, as Caner was no longer in that place, he immediately looked up and saw her.

At a certain distance above, she lunges through the air with the moonlight bathing her body, gripping her blade with both hands high above her head as she prepares to crash it down on Aegon like a bolt of lightning.

Then, descending with a powerful swing, she aimed her blow at Aegon; however, Aegon used his mana-engulfed fist to punch the sword out of her hands, sending it flying into the distance where it landed on the ground.

At that exact moment, Aegon moved his left hand to grab her by the neck, however, Cancer was able to react and instinctively sensing, it used her now empty right hand to hold Aegon’s left hand,

and with this, she leaped over him, taking his hand back, and landed behind him.

Then, letting go of his hand she jumped up, a few inches from the ground, and using both her legs she kicked Aegon’s back, moving him a bit but most importantly sending herself a large distance away from him.

Baffled, Aegon turned around and saw Cancer meters away from her.

’Impossible!’

Aegon was taken aback by her swift and precise movement.

It was calculated so accurately and executed so perfectly. Even after losing her sword, she was still able to think fast enough and evade the neck attack.

"Such battle thinking..."

This was a thing to be amazed about and Aegon rightfully so, but there was one thing that he couldn’t get off his mind.

’I was moved.’

He noticed he was not in the exact same position on the ground when she leaped over him.

Aegon realized that this happened when Cancer had kicked him, and he had moved, which shouldn’t be possible.

He was wearing the absolute deflection field like armor which was supposed to prevent anything from touching or hitting him.

Yet, Cancer was able to touch, grab his hand and use it as a support for her to jump over him.

And as if that wasn’t enough, she used his back as support to send herself far, by kicking him.

"Such power. Just how much did that old man give to her, for her to be able to bypass my ability?"

"If it is possible for her to touch me, then it could also be possible for her to break the barrier..."

Saying this, Aegon remembered what the system had shown earlier on the quest window.

’The void of nothingness.’

"Is there a connection?"

He didn’t take his gaze off Cancer because he didn’t know what kind of move she might pull next.

The thing is, Aegon was perfectly capable of ending the fight in an instant, if he wanted to.

Of course he could, after all he had the abilities and skills needed to do so. But where was the fun in that?

And plus he couldn’t even use the said abilities if he wanted to because he didn’t want to blow the entire place away.

If he erased every single opponent in a fight, how would he learn and grow from the fights?

It’s not all about extermination, sometimes there are things that one could learn while fighting.

For instance, he wouldn’t have thought for there to be a connection between Cancer and the Void of Nothingness, which the system had spoken about.

Aegon knew and realized that he needed to be extra careful, she was a dangerous opponent and wasn’t one to be taken lightly.

’No matter what, I have to be on guard. I don’t know what this void of nothingness has to do with me from what the system said, or what it can do. But if there is a connection between her and it, then..."

Before he could complete his words, his eyes moved to her empty hands, and Cancer was able to detect that he was looking at her hands.

Then in that moment, both of their gazes moved to where her blade landed.

Cancer brought back her gaze, looking at Aegon. She had lost her sword but that wasn’t going to stop her.

At that moment, she removed the bow around her body and brought out three arrows from the quiver where a lot of them were stored.

"Tch."

Aegon had forgotten that she didn’t just have a single weapon, being the sword, but also had the bow and a lot of arrows in her possession.

’What a formidable opponent. Not giving up till the end, huh?’

Holding the bow in her and arrows in her hands; the bow in her left and the arrows in her right, Cancer raised the bow and placed all three arrows by its side, aiming them directly at Aegon.

"Three arrows, at once?"

Aegon was shocked to see this, but that wasn’t all.

Looking at the three arrows, a black, unstable energy began to coil around them like dark lightning.

It pulsed from the center of the bow, forming a bright white ring of light that looked like a crack in the air itself.

The energy didn’t just glow; it concentrated at the tips of the three arrows in jagged, ink-like streaks that made the air in front of them look like it was breaking apart.

As the power grew, the dark aura vibrated with a sharp intensity, making the three arrows look less like wood and more like weapons made of pure, concentrated void.

"Oh sh!t."
