70s Delicate Girl: A Guide to Being a Rich Woman
Chapter 440: Mom’s Call
"I’m handling it, don’t worry." Yin Yang smiled. Xu Mumu wasn’t interested in such things, and Yin Yang naturally didn’t want to add to Xu Mumu’s troubles. These issues would be better handled by himself.
"Don’t tire yourself out, your health is more important." Xu Mumu said seriously.
"Mm, I remember." Yin Yang nodded with a smile, quietly accepting his wife’s concern.
On the first day of school, Xu Mumu got busy. During the experiment class, Xu Mumu suddenly had some inspiration; she had a lot of things next door that needed modification.
Xu Mumu was completely immersed in the grand task of modification. She wanted to make these devices more intelligent, but the technology wasn’t mature enough.
To achieve the level of sophistication seen in future generations, Xu Mumu jotted down her inspirations while learning various knowledge about numerical control, becoming even busier than Yin Yang, spending every day reading endless books.
Once again, Xu Mumu felt fortunate to have been admitted to Hua University. The library there was well-stocked; she could find knowledge on almost any subject she wanted, except for the more advanced materials of future generations.
"What have you been busy with lately? You haven’t paid any attention to me these days." Yin Yang looked at Xu Mumu with a sense of grievance. She was about to sleep, yet still reading a book full of dense text that gave him a headache.
Xu Mumu shared her plans with Yin Yang. Yin Yang just furrowed his brows but didn’t say much, knowing Xu Mumu was interested in this and supporting her.
Xu Mumu put down her book, placed a bookmark, and seeing Yin Yang’s pouty face softened immediately, then smiled and leaned in to give him a kiss.
"Alright, don’t be upset." Xu Mumu said softly.
"Not enough, still upset." Yin Yang pushed his face toward her, asking for another kiss.
Xu Mumu smiled and fulfilled his request; she had indeed been neglecting Yin Yang lately.
At night while they were going to sleep, she couldn’t help but agree to some of Yin Yang’s unreasonable requests. Xu Mumu felt a bit of headache, and in the morning she still felt uncomfortable. She swore, no matter how busy she got, she wouldn’t neglect Yin Yang again; the price of neglecting him was a bit beyond her capability to bear.
"Still feeling unwell? Should I ask someone to give you a couple of days off so you can rest at home?" Yin Yang asked with concern, seeing Xu Mumu’s condition. She had been busy every day, making him want her to rest for a while.
"No need, missing too many classes will lead to points being deducted." Xu Mumu shook her head. After all, she’d just sit in the classroom reading books, and today she only has half a day of classes. In the afternoon, she could head next door and test her ideas.
By the way, she needed some special materials. She planned to write a list for Yin Yang and have him ask Zhou Yunhong to procure them. They were capable, and Xu Mumu wasn’t shy about utilizing their abilities.
In the afternoon, as Xu Mumu prepared to head next door to work, she received a call from her mother.
"Mom, why are you calling at this time?" Xu Mumu asked quizzically.
"Of course, because I’m thinking about my girl. How’s it going in the Imperial City? Is Yin Yang treating you well?" Li Caixia’s excited voice came from the other end of the line.
Xu Mumu: "..." Judging by her mother’s enthusiastic tone, this wasn’t just a call out of concern; there must be something else.
"We’re doing fine. By the way, did you deliver the stuff I asked you to send to Grandpa’s, Grandpa’s, Uncle’s, and Aunt’s?" Xu Mumu shrugged and asked.
"Yes, we even went back home and visited your aunt. Oh, you wouldn’t believe it; your aunt was so envious when she saw me." Li Caixia said excitedly, being someone who loved to show off, she didn’t just deliver things but flaunted everywhere, with a group of people always around to flatter her.
Xu Mumu hadn’t realized her mother was living so well. Although Li Caixia didn’t have great taste, she loved getting her hair dyed and permed. The folks in the countryside didn’t understand fashion; to them, Li Caixia was the epitome of style.
"You didn’t put your aunt in a difficult position, did you?" Xu Mumu worriedly asked since her mother often didn’t get along with her aunt, and Xu Mumu was concerned about her mother’s temperament.
"How is that possible? Am I that kind of person? I was just advising her to properly educate her son." Li Caixia said, pursing her lips. She visited her sister to share her parenting insights and flaunt her own children’s success, then left gracefully when her sister was green with envy.
Xu Mumu: ... She thought quietly to herself.
"I remember Cousin also started middle school, right? How are his grades?" Xu Mumu asked anyway.
"Of course, not good at all. I’ve heard from people that he didn’t pass any of his exams, far worse than your brother." Li Caixia seemed to float on air.
Xu Mumu’s mouth twitched, already able to imagine her mother’s arrogant demeanor in front of her aunt.
"Oh right, I almost forgot the main thing. Honey, do you remember what I told you during the New Year?"
"What thing?" Xu Mumu was puzzled. Her mother talked a lot daily, and she couldn’t tell which event her mother was referring to.
"It’s about introducing Zhou Yunhong to a partner. I asked Wang from our office, and she’s willing to meet him." Li Caixia said with a grin.
"Yun Hong is busy now; how about I ask him about it tonight?" Xu Mumu hesitated for two seconds, surprised that her mother was still keen on matchmaking. Her hobbies were indeed extensive.
"Sure, sure, if you can persuade him, that would be great. Honey, do your best; Wang from our office is quite sweet." Li Caixia rambled about Wang’s qualities, even listing the virtues of her family lineage.
Xu Mumu was a bit curious about the girl her mother was fond of, who could win her mother’s favor. From Li Caixia’s descriptions, Xu Mumu gathered that she was an all-rounder, nice with everyone in the office, and didn’t shy away from conversations.
Such an all-rounder could get along anywhere, but Xu Mumu didn’t feel particularly moved.
After her parents passed away in her previous life, she became somewhat withdrawn. In reality, she envied those who could be sociable and talk with ease.
After chatting with her mother for half an hour, Xu Mumu hung up, heading next door. This matter would be better addressed by asking Zhou Yunhong’s opinion that night. If he’s willing, a meeting would be fine; if not, it wouldn’t be forced. Ultimately, it depended on Zhou Yunhong’s thoughts and his preferences in a partner.
Xu Mumu took her book and designs and went next door. Yin Yang had arranged for someone to clean regularly, keeping the laboratory spotless.
