70s Delicate Girl: A Guide to Being a Rich Woman
Chapter 461: Du Yu Is Getting Married
Xu Mumu didn’t wait for two days before receiving a call from home with good news. It was Madam Chen who called; the kids at home did quite well in their exams.
Even without seeing her grandmother, Xu Mumu could tell from her grandmother’s voice how excited she was. The kids’ results were quite good, which really made her proud.
Xu Mumu was smiling too while listening to Xu Minglei on the phone. She praised him thoroughly; among the kids, Xu Minglei and Xu Jiaojiao had the best results.
Now that their results are out, the Experimental Middle School’s high school department directly admitted the kids early, as their scores weren’t much different.
Not only were they admitted, but their tuition and living expenses were waived, with some subsidies offered as well.
Having experienced the benefits of good performance, Madam Chen and the others didn’t need much persuasion from Xu Mumu to supervise the kids’ studies.
After hanging up, Xu Mumu pondered whether to go home first or follow Yin Yang to have fun.
However, Yin Yang hadn’t finished his work yet, so playing around would likely have to wait a bit longer.
But there’s no rush, as the break lasts for two months, so there’s plenty of time.
In the evening when Yin Yang returned, Xu Mumu told him about it, and Yin Yang was also quite pleased.
While sleeping, they talked about going back.
"Mumu, I’m sorry, I still have some unfinished business here, so I might not be able to accompany you back to have fun." Yin Yang looked at Xu Mumu, and they had already planned to postpone their beach trip until the school term started.
"No worries, you go ahead and finish your work. I’ll wait for you." Xu Mumu said with a smile. Though she missed home, she was now married and couldn’t revolve around the Old Xu Family anymore.
"You could go back first; Ming and Yun Hong are in the provincial city. I’m busy here, so I might not have time to go out with you." Yin Yang said gently.
"But I can’t bear to leave you." Xu Mumu hugged Yin Yang’s waist and leaned on his shoulder.
"Then I’ll hurry and resolve things here, and go back with you, okay?" Yin Yang felt a flush of warmth in his heart.
"Okay." Xu Mumu nodded.
Indeed, in the following days, Xu Mumu found Yin Yang became even busier, leaving early and returning late, completely exhausted.
Xu Mumu asked Mrs. Liu to make more nourishing meals for Yin Yang every day. Despite eating them, Yin Yang still lost weight, and Xu Mumu felt extremely distressed.
"Didn’t you say you liked slimmer guys? Now I’m slimmer, but you’re unhappy." Yin Yang joked, noting that he was mindful of his health. Now that he’s lost a bit of weight, once he has some free time and eats healthily, he’ll gain it back, not worried at all.
"How can that be the same? From now on, eat more every day. If you lose too much, you’ll have to deal with me, humph." Xu Mumu glared at Yin Yang, hoping he’d stay healthy.
"Alright, I’ll listen to whatever you say from now on." Yin Yang agreed with a smile.
After being busy for half a month, Yin Yang finally delegated his work and left Lin Zhengze in charge to handle the tasks instead.
Whenever Lin Zhengze was indecisive, he’d call to ask for guidance.
The next day, Yin Yang slept until noon at home before getting up; Xu Mumu stayed in bed with him. Upon going out, they faced curious looks from Professor Song and Professor Jian, making Xu Mumu wish she could hide.
"Grandfather, we’re planning to stay in Shengjiang for two months, would you like to join us?" Yin Yang asked Professors Song and Jian with a grin. Ignoring their looks, he pretended not to notice.
"We won’t be going back. There’s still work at the school; I’m planning to launch a new project, and Old Jian’s experiments aren’t finished yet." Professor Song chuckled and shook his head, for although school was out, there was still plenty to do.
Yin Yang nodded, not pressing them further. After lunch, he and Xu Mumu went to buy train tickets.
After purchasing the tickets, they packed their things for the trip back home.
Xu Mumu didn’t bring many clothes, just more books, which she intended to read in her spare time.
As for the items bought for her family, they were mailed directly, avoiding cumbersome bags.
The parcel they sent should have reached Madam Chen by now.
Before leaving, Xu Mumu unexpectedly received a call from Du Yu. When writing to him, she had shared her phone number, and they’d spoken a few times.
"What made you think of calling?" Xu Mumu asked, surprised. After starting university, her contact with Du Yu had lessened.
"I was checking when you’re coming back. Uh, I’m getting married next month." Du Yu said with some embarrassment.
"You’re getting married?" Xu Mumu’s eyes widened. She recalled that at the beginning of the year, before her own marriage, Du Yu had called, and he was single then. Now, in just one semester, he was getting married; the pace was astonishing. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
"Yes, on the eighth of next month. Can you come back?" Du Yu asked, wanting to invite his good friend Xu Mumu.
"Of course I can. We’re packing today and taking a train tomorrow afternoon. We’ll be back in the provincial city after a few days." Xu Mumu responded brightly.
"Really? That’s great; we can have a get-together when you’re back." Du Yu laughed.
After chatting with Du Yu for a while longer, Xu Mumu hung up the phone, still feeling quite happy.
Du Yu was getting married, and Yin Yang was quite pleased, remembering how the guy often hung around his wife.
Now, that annoying fellow was finally tying the knot.
Xu Mumu didn’t know his thoughts, assuming he was as happy for Du Yu as she was.
The small courtyard was under Mrs. Liu’s care, so sometimes they were quite at ease.
Xu Mumu felt reluctant to part from the professors and the two dogs.
"Mumu, time to go." Yin Yang loaded the luggage into the car. Lin Zhengze, acting as the driver, saw Xu Mumu still playing with the dogs and commented helplessly.
"Coming." She petted the dogs’ heads and waved to the professors before leaving the courtyard in a small car.
Once Xu Mumu and Yin Yang left, the courtyard felt empty again.
The train was crowded; they booked a sleeping compartment. The train journey was quite dull as the air was stagnant, making Xu Mumu somewhat uncomfortable. But there was no choice; the provincial city didn’t even have an airport, so flying wasn’t an option. Conditions were much rougher than later times.
"Not feeling well?" Yin Yang asked, concerned, noticing that Xu Mumu looked a bit pale. He gently touched her forehead, worried she might be sick.
"I’m fine, it’s just the smell in here isn’t pleasant." Xu Mumu shook her head, not sure whose stinky socks were emanating their scent from afar. Having sharp senses sometimes brought inconveniences.
