After Rebirth: The Alpha Ex-Husband Is Addicted to Me
Chapter 257: Living in Your Heart (21)
"This was your favorite dress before; I gave it to you."
"Is this really not a dream?"
"Not a dream." He looked at her with a smile in his eyes, "It’s the way we meet; I’m just a wisp of a soul, and I can only see you in your dreams when you wear this dress."
"How can you be sure that I will definitely see this dress and put it on?"
"Because you will be my wife in every life, you will surely wear it to see me." He stepped closer to her, and Lucy Eaton stepped back, "You... don’t come over."
He truly stood still, "Are you afraid of me?"
"No, I just don’t understand why there are two identical faces, even the tear mole at the corner of the eye is the same, yet the voice is different. Can you give me the answer to this?"
"This is my true voice." His voice changed to be indistinguishable from Jacob Green’s, "When I was alive, I had two identities and often spoke with another voice, and over time, I got used to it."
Lucy Eaton asked again, "You said you are a wisp of a ghost, then, isn’t that person who looks exactly like you your reincarnation?"
"Yes, he is my reincarnation. We are the same person. A person needs three souls and seven spirits to live long. The one with my identical face you saw is my three souls and six spirits. If I don’t merge with him before he turns thirty-one, he will die."
"What?!" Lucy Eaton felt a suffocating shock in her chest, "Then why don’t you merge with him?"
"It’s not that I don’t want to merge with him, it’s that I’m powerless."
"Why?"
"My grave was set with an array by Queen Diana Doll, suppressing this spirit of mine, preventing me from reincarnating. She knew I cursed myself to be your husband in every lifetime. She couldn’t change it, so she made it so that even though we are married, we couldn’t love each other."
"Then she miscalculated. In this life, you and I are very much in love. If I break the array in your grave, can you merge with your three souls and six spirits?"
"Yes, that’s why I have to wait for you to see me, and you’re the only one who can."
"Tell me the exact location of your grave."
He proceeded to tell her the exact address and said, "My grave has not yet been discovered by archaeologists or grave robbers."
"If the array on your coffin is broken and you merge with him, will he remember the events of the Thirteen Dynasty?"
"Yes, but once we merge, you won’t be able to see me like this while wearing this dress again."
"I know what to do now."
The figure of him before Lucy Eaton suddenly turned into a blinding white.
"Lucy, wake up..."
Jacob Green’s voice came from beside her, and Lucy Eaton reopened her eyes to the face so close by.
"Husband."
"Hmm?"
"Am I beautiful?"
"Of course, how could Jacob Green’s woman not be beautiful?" he said with a smile, "Had a dream?"
"How did you know?"
"As soon as I came in, I heard you talking in your dream, speaking a string of Country A words."
"Country A... language?" She was puzzled, "I only know the common foreign languages, I can’t speak Country A language at all. And in my dream, I was clearly speaking Country Y language, how could it have been Country A language?"
"You said it; I only heard one thing. You said: I know what to do now..."
Lucy Eaton pondered and said, "Wasn’t it just dreaming about you, that sentence was for you."
"Even in dreams you dream about me, you indeed love me deeply."
"Indeed." Lucy Eaton began to take off her clothes.
"Jacob, can you paint?"
"Of course." he said smugly, "I paint quite well."
"Never seen you paint."
"I’m always so busy, where’s the time? But, a few years ago, I drew a little book, meant to give it to you, but never got around to it. I’ll give it to you when we get home."
Lucy Eaton put her long dress aside and looked at him with a serious expression, "Jacob, if you are Marcus Hayes III..."
"If I am him, then this trip to Country A was indeed the right decision," he said, as if he knew something, "So am I or am I not?"
"You are." She told him everything about the dream honestly, "We must go find the mausoleum now."
"Should we let Elliot Gill know about this?"
"We can’t hide it from him." Lucy Eaton searched online for the location of the mausoleum, "It’s quite far, we should have him join us. No matter how he is to others, he’s always been nothing but good to me. Previously, he used the Mother and Child Pot to control me, promised to lift the control after five years, and he did as promised. I think I should trust him."
Jacob nodded, "Okay, I’ll call him."
Lucy Eaton put on her original clothes and then met Elliot Gill.
Since they were going to the mausoleum, Elliot Gill prepared tools, medicine, and food and drinks.
Because this matter was no trivial affair, they did not take any bodyguards, only the three of them went.
In the car, Lucy Eaton recounted the details of the dream once more, just omitting one thing: if the array isn’t broken, Jacob won’t live to see thirty-one.
And this year, he is already thirty years old.
Lucy Eaton didn’t want to waste a single moment.
Because they didn’t know which day before he turned thirty-one he would die.
The car drove for three hours before reaching the vicinity of the mausoleum.
Steller Valley.
Steller Valley was rather ordinary; it was just a place filled with woods and bushes, with many snakes, rats, insects, and ants.
Not exactly a tourist attraction.
And perhaps because of that, it was sparsely populated.
They surveyed the terrain, and because of the changes over time, many more trees had grown, making it not easy to find the exact location.
Far more difficult than imagined.
It wasn’t until dusk that they narrowed it down to a small range.
They ate fast food and drank water in the car, and just as they were about to get out, it started to rain outside.
"There will be heavy rain tonight." Elliot Gill glanced at the weather forecast, "Should we head back and come again tomorrow or continue?"
"Continue," Lucy Eaton and Jacob Green answered in unison.
Elliot Gill nodded, "Then continue."
The trunk had two umbrellas and two raincoats.
Lucy Eaton and Jacob Green wore the raincoats, while Elliot Gill carried an umbrella.
Luckily, there was no wind.
Otherwise, the umbrella wouldn’t be easy to hold.
Since they had already surveyed during the daytime and had the help of a compass, they didn’t wander.
The night gradually deepened. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
After hiking up for almost forty minutes, the sudden call of a bird rang from the woods, so loud that it was eerie in this silent night, startling the three of them.
Unexpectedly, as the bird calls got closer, the three huddled together, their expressions taut.
In an unexpected scene, a large black bird calling loudly stopped a meter in front of them, then turned and slowly flew forward.
Lucy Eaton, holding a flashlight, didn’t move, yet the bird stopped as well. Realizing something, she walked forward a few steps, and it flew a short distance ahead.
