City Lord Brock arrived in front of the room. He was ready to meet the warrior from Star University. The middle-aged man knocked on the door.

Creak!

Inside the room, I opened my eyes. My mental power covered the room. I found someone standing outside.

After getting out of bed, I went to the door to open it.

Creak!

I opened the door. Then I saw the middle-aged man standing outside. I recognized his clothes. He is the City Lord of Lake City.

City Lord Brock broke out into a cold sweat because he recognized the face of the warrior.

Some time ago, the higher-ups had sent them the pictures of the rising warriors of Star University. Among the rising stars, the name of Zack Lockwood was loud like thunder.

He collected his thoughts and greeted the young man.

"Young Master Zack Lockwood, I’m the City Lord of Lake City. My name is Brock," the middle-aged man introduced himself.

Hearing that, I was surprised. I didn’t expect the City Lord to come in the middle of the night. Then I welcomed the City Lord inside the room.

The City Lord walked into the room.

He then said, "Young Master, I know you are doing a mission. But the place is not safe anymore. A lot of new faces have entered the city."

"I think they are after you," he added.

Hearing that, I nodded my head and replied, "Thanks for reminding me. But I have something else to ask."

Brock was taken aback.

He said, "Young Master Zack Lockwood, you can ask me anything."

Hearing that, I immediately asked about the Grave and Wood families in the city. The City Lord was shocked. He knew about the two families.

They were declining warrior families. He didn’t know why Young Master Zack Lockwood was asking about them.

He then began to explain about the warrior families.

I listened to him. When the City Lord finished telling me, he wanted to know what I was going to do.

"Don’t let the warriors of the two families leave the city. I want you to summon the family heads to the City Lord’s office tomorrow. I will deal with them there," I said to him.

Hearing that, City Lord Brock was shocked. There were a lot of meanings hidden in those words. He nodded his head and agreed to do that.

After some talk, the City Lord left the room. I closed the door and went back to sleep.

City Lord Brock returned to his office. He quickly ordered the officials to block the warriors from the Grave and Wood families from leaving.

He also dispatched a few elders to keep an eye on the family estates. He didn’t want the family heads to flee from the city.

Though Young Master Zack Lockwood didn’t say anything, Brock could understand something. He thought that there was something wrong with the two families.

There could be planted spies among them.

The following day,

City Lord Brock contacted them directly. He wanted both family heads to come to the City Lord’s office. When the news reached the families, they were shocked.

They were afraid that their deeds were exposed. But they could not escape from the city. Otherwise, their crimes would be confirmed. They might be hunted down by the Star University people.

Both the family heads communicated with each other. City Lord Brock is a Purple Rank Warrior. He might be individually strong.

But the two heads were Purple Rank Warriors as well. If they teamed up, then they could defeat the City Lord. Then they would have a chance to escape from the city as well.

In the end, the two heads decided to go to the City Lord’s office. Before leaving for the City Lord’s office, they informed their elders and family members to leave the city.

If the situation was fine, then they could come back later. If there was no news of their return, then the family members should change their identities and leave.

Most of the family members were confused and afraid. They didn’t know what was going on. But the family elders and core family members were different. They knew what the reason was.

Their families had long since betrayed the Star University. They had joined hands with the foreign creatures. It was a crime against humanity.

All because of the greed to break the limit to reach the Half-Step Red Mark Level.

Twenty minutes later,

The two family heads reached the City Lord’s office. City Lord Brock invited them to sit in his office. City Lord Brock is a veteran. He didn’t show any changes on his face. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

Meanwhile,

I started heading towards the City Lord’s office in a cab. The City Lord’s arrival last night had helped me a lot. If I wanted to deal with the families alone, it might draw attention from the killers.

I wanted to complete the mission first. Then I would deal with the people who would come after me.

Ten minutes later,

The cab driver dropped me in front of the City Lord’s office. I paid the fare to him. Then I put the mask on my face and walked up to the gate.

The city guards were surprised. They had heard from the City Lord that someone important would come soon.

I approached the city guards and said, "The City Lord has summoned me."

Hearing that, the guards looked at each other’s faces and nodded their heads. Then they allowed me to go inside.

I walked inside and looked at the stairs ahead. They directly led to the City Lord’s office. I took the stairs and quickly reached the main office.

When I walked into the hall, I noticed there were people standing outside the office room. They saw me and quickly walked up to me.

"The City Lord is waiting for you," one of them said.

"Okay," I replied.

Then I opened the door and entered inside. My gaze fell on City Lord Brock sitting behind the desk. There were two people sitting opposite him. My heart turned cold.
