Chapter 103: Mortar

The intelligent assistant in the shelter issued a reminder.

Previously, the members of the police station had been bombarding the shelter for quite some time, but it only consumed about ten percent of its energy.Unexpectedly, the bomb in the crow’s hand suddenly depleted over twenty percent of the energy!

Waldo gasped in shock. If the crow still had more of these bombs, things would become dangerous. He couldn’t let him continue this assault.

In the helicopter above,Although the crow didn’t know that the explosive bomb could deplete so much energy, he could tell from the intense fluctuations in the energy shield that this attack had caused significant damage to it.

The Sheriff had given him two of these explosive bombs before they set off. There might be a chance! As long as he could breach the defense shield, the police station would be defenseless against him!

That’s what the crow thought.Waldo loaded his ammunition and fired his AK47 again. However, the helicopter quickly ascended with a swoosh, evading his shots skillfully.

Waldo felt like a trapped animal in a cage; he couldn’t do anything against the helicopter. He had no idea how many of these bombs the police station had left.If they had enough, the "energy shield" might be blown wide open.

On the ground, the police officers and Alanna were all drawn to the violent fluctuations caused by the energy shield. Some were elated, others worried.Sheriff, over the intercom, laughed and said, "Crow, well done! Find an opportunity to place the second bomb!"

Then, he shouted loudly to the police officers on the ground, "Brothers, keep on firing! 10086’s turtle shell won’t hold for long!"

Scorpion also commanded his subordinates, "Bring up that damn mortar! How many shells are left? Two? Aim them all at 10086’s shelter and blast them!"

Alanna frowned anxiously.

While she was deeply concerned about Waldo’s situation upstairs, there were too many police officers on the ground, and she felt powerless to help effectively.

After throwing a few grenades at the police officers and sending a few flying, she suddenly noticed them setting up a mortar. She hurriedly yelled, "Helen, look, they’re setting up a mortar over there!"

Helen turned her Gatling gun towards the mortar, trying to stop its launch.

But did the police station let her succeed?

Even if it meant sacrificing a few members, Scorpion personally loaded the shell into the mortar. Then, with a loud bang, the mortar shell hit the energy shield.

The energy shield’s energy value dropped by another five percent!Smoke filled the air.

The police officers were covered in dirt and grime. But the three unscathed individuals were Waldo, Alanna, and Helen.

As long as the energy shield was breached, the S-alloy walls and automatic defense systems might hold up for a little while longer. But the police station’s casualties weren’t severe right now.

If they relied on the overwhelming numbers and stormed into the villa, Waldo and his team would undoubtedly suffer casualties.

Waldo emptied his magazine again and stopped shooting.

He admitted to himself that he had probably overestimated the police station’s strength.

Unexpectedly, the police station kept revealing its hidden cards one after another - explosive bombs, mortar shells. Should Waldo really abandon the shelter and escape with Alanna and Helen? He was unwilling.

As he watched the helicopter descending again and the crow about to place the second bomb, Waldo suddenly had an idea. Maybe placing another bomb would break through the turtle shell defense!

The crow eagerly commanded the helicopter to fly lower after he had just placed the bomb. The previous attack had made 10086 anxious, causing them to fire continuously at them. But with the helicopter pulling up, hitting them again wouldn’t be that easy.

The crow looked at Waldo like a lamb to be slaughtered. Could Waldo’s military gear and invincibility be of any use? They still had other aces up their sleeve.

With determination, Waldo reloaded his ammunition and, seeing the crow getting close to the energy shield, he smiled. A skilled hunter often appeared as the hunted. If you considered me as your prey, wouldn’t I consider you the same?

In an instant, Waldo stowed his AK47 in his backpack and equipped a mechanical grappling hook on his arm, aiming for the underside of the helicopter’s frame.

The crow saw the mechanical grappling hook flying towards them and hurriedly yelled, "Fly up quickly, he wants to get close to us!" But even with quick reflexes, the pilot was a step too late.

The mechanical grappling hook firmly latched onto the helicopter’s base. It automatically retracted, pulling Waldo towards it.

The people on the ground from the police station started shooting at Waldo, trying to knock him down, but the bullets only made clinking noises against his battle armor. It seemed that dealing with this armor would require shockwaves and armor-piercing rounds.

Alanna and Helen were astonished, watching Waldo being pulled higher and higher. The helicopter had reached a dangerously high altitude, and falling from there would mean certain death.

The crow was determined not to let Waldo climb on board. He instructed another police officer with an assault rifle to shoot at Waldo, while he attempted to cut the rope of the mechanical grappling hook from another side.

But a glance made the crow swear. It was an iron chain! He hated it when people pointed guns at his head!

By this time, Waldo had climbed onto the helicopter from the other side, and the poor guy who had shot at him earlier was kicked off by him.

The crow turned his head, flames erupting from his hand. "10086, I’ll make you pay!"

Waldo looked at the flames in the crow’s hand and raised an eyebrow. He didn’t expect the crow to be an awakened survivor with flame-related abilities. Impressive!

Survivors could awaken abilities upon reaching level 10, but it was a matter of probability, and the chances weren’t high. Waldo had only discovered this later and considered himself lucky to have awakened a skill.

This was the second awakened survivor he encountered, the first being Colossus from the police station. Back then, he was scared by Colossus’s superhuman strength.

Now, he realized that the police station indeed had many talented individuals.
