Apocalypse - Infinite Resource System
Chapter 125: Meteor Impact
The meteor shower has begun to descend.
The old city is the first to be affected. Each survivor can receive videos and news updates through the system.
While everyone is hiding in underground bunkers, without updated information from the system, no one can know the specific situation of the meteor shower.
Waldo watched a video. A group of zombies gathered in the old city, looking up at the meteor with a long arrow-like tail streaking across the sky and approaching them.
Roaring!
The zombies, feeling uncomfortable due to the increasing temperature from the approaching meteor, roared loudly, as if their screams could cool them down.
In the next moment, the meteor hit the ground. Through the screen, Waldo could clearly see the distorted air caused by the high temperature.
After a burst of white light, a large crater appeared on the screen. The crater was several meters deep and had a diameter as wide as a standard football field. The zombies in the deep pit were obliterated, not even a trace left.
"What are you looking at, Waldo?" Alanna leaned on Waldo’s back, wrapping her arms around his shoulders. Seeing Waldo watching the video in a daze, she asked curiously.
Helen also approached, looking curious about the video.
Waldo didn’t stop them and pulled them closer, projecting the system’s video for them to see the destruction caused by the meteor just now.
After watching the video, Alanna and Helen fell silent. They were shocked by the devastation caused by this disaster. And this was just the beginning; there were still more meteor showers to come. They couldn’t imagine how catastrophic it would be when all the meteors rained down.
If they landed on the villa area, could the underground bunker really withstand them?
Seeing the worry in his two women, Waldo gently stroked their hair and comforted, "It’s okay, don’t be afraid. We are probably the only ones in this city with an advanced underground bunker. If we can’t withstand the meteor shower, then the system is really targeting us and wants to wipe us all out."
Alanna sighed helplessly. "I wonder how many survivors will die this time. Although the system has given us a month to prepare for the meteor shower, there are too many survivors in the city who cannot gather enough resources to build underground bunkers."
"In chaotic times like this, most of the resources are in the hands of those with guns. That’s why some low-level teams, even with thousands of people, are afraid to confront larger teams with just a few hundred people. It’s a simple truth," Waldo added.
"In the era of firearms, manpower alone cannot compensate for the gap. Without weapons, living in the apocalypse is even worse than facing zombies."
So, the vast majority of these survivors will die in this meteor shower disaster. Some survivors may be more optimistic.
After struggling for so long, they might just shout "hurrah" when the meteor hits them on the head. There are also some survivors who have tried everything but can’t survive. They can only shed a tear and wait quietly for death.
Helen remained silent. She wasn’t as emotional as Alanna. She had witnessed too many people cannibalizing each other since arriving in the apocalypse. Human life seemed insignificant to her, and she had grown indifferent to it.
Waldo opened the chat channel and found that many survivors were speaking their minds. It looked somewhat humorous, yet also desolate.
[Chat Channel]
ID567457: I’m about to die. I’m in the old city, not killed by the meteor, but about to die of thirst! There’s no water left!
Hehe, after the meteor strikes, the high temperature on the ground can dehydrate you, and there’s also radiation.
ID364573: It’s really miserable. Those who have conditions have all hidden in underground bunkers, with no worries about food and drink. Only us, the survivors who are worse than ants, are left on the surface, struggling every second.
ID834567: I really don’t want to die! I’ve been trying so hard to survive in the apocalypse, why? Why, damn it!
ID84566: Hey, bro, I’m even worse off than you. I’m trapped on the streets of the old city. I can’t return to the underground bunker I built for nothing. So unfair!
Similar desperate chat messages kept scrolling, and there were just too many of them. In the face of death, people always want to find someone to talk to. The chat channel has become their last resort.
They frantically flooded the chat channel with messages. Even though many survivors residing in the underground bunkers were angrily cursing them.
ID474633: Damn it! Will you ever stop! If you want to die, die far away. What does it have to do with us that you’re flooding the chat channel? Who do you think you are?
ID364563: That’s right, a bunch of weaklings who can’t even build an underground bunker. Your deaths are no different from bugs. Why are you flooding the chat here? You’re really annoying!
ID734534: We just like to vent. Come and fight me if you dare. Come to the surface! Hahaha!
Survivors in the underground bunkers wouldn’t dare to go up to the surface. The massive radiation and high temperature brought by the meteor shower would be suicidal.
These survivors on the surface will all die in the next day or two.
The two sides argued fiercely. After a while, the system played another video. It was still in the old city, and this time, several meteors fell in succession.
Moreover, there were more to come. Even the densely populated central area started to be hit by meteors.
The survivors residing in the central area are the most densely populated. In this city of over a hundred thousand people, an estimated two-thirds are here.
They kept falling one after another! 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
There was no place that could escape the attack of the meteor shower. If there was any hope, it was just being luckier than others, being hit a bit later.
