Apocalypse - Infinite Resource System
Chapter 170: Ambush
On the highway, the armored vehicle roared as it sped toward its destination. The speed was already at its maximum, and there was no way to go any faster.
The reason for not using a tank was that, compared to an armored vehicle, tanks were relatively slower. Waldo needed to save as much time as possible to locate Brigham quickly. If they were even a moment too late, Brigham and his companions might escape.
Soon, they arrived near the urban village.
The noise from the armored vehicle was too loud. So, the three of them parked the vehicle nearby and proceeded to their destination on foot.
This was the Eastern City District. Relative to other areas, the zombies in the Eastern City District had already been cleared out by survivors, and they were hardly visible.
Before long, they arrived near the urban village.
"I really want to see who this Brigham is!" Waldo sneered and said to the two women, "You stay out here and guard the road, don’t let them escape. I’ll go inside and meet them."
"Alright! Be careful!" the two women said in unison.
Waldo nodded slightly. "Don’t worry, they won’t be a match for me."
He was very confident that he could easily deal with Brigham and his two companions. His confidence was not baseless but came from his real strength.
At level thirty, he possessed three abilities: Fire Control, Invisibility, and Teleportation. In this city, there were few who could rival him. Moreover, Waldo had acquired many weapons and equipment by this point.
At this moment, it was already dark outside. It was the early hours of the morning, and dawn was approaching. The world was peaceful. The moonlight was hazy, like a veil covering everything.
Occasionally, a gentle breeze would blow, bringing a refreshing coolness to the summer night. At the same time, it made the world exceptionally quiet, with only occasional distant zombie moans.
Waldo moved silently, heading towards his destination.
"If you dare to mess with me, you must pay the price! This time, I won’t let it slide. They think I’m an easy target?"
The anger in Waldo’s heart hadn’t dissipated; in fact, it was growing. The more he thought about it, the angrier he became. And the angrier he got, the more he wanted to eliminate Brigham and his companions to vent his frustration.
At this moment, he had already made up his mind. If Brigham had a good attitude and was willing to admit his mistake, Waldo would only give him a small punishment. But if Brigham’s attitude was terrible, if he remained arrogant, Waldo wouldn’t hesitate to kill him.
After all, there were many survivors who had died at his hands. Adding a few more to the list wasn’t a big deal.
Soon, Waldo reached Brigham and his companions’ residence. The door was a modified iron door, likely designed to withstand zombie attacks, providing good defense.
It would take some effort to forcibly remove it, but Waldo couldn’t care less. Flames appeared in his palm, and with a boom, the flames surged into a massive fireball, melting and deforming the iron door.
This iron door was far less sturdy than the entrance door of the armory, and it couldn’t withstand the high temperature of Waldo’s Fire Control ability. The door melted, and Waldo entered.
"Hmm? Where are they?"
Waldo frowned. There was no one in the room. According to the information he had received, Brigham and the others should be here. Had they run away?
Waldo noticed some uneaten food on the ground. It seemed like they had left in a hurry and hadn’t gone far yet.
At that moment, he heard something unusual.
It was a bomb!
Waldo turned abruptly, and he saw that there were several large bundles of explosives in various corners of the room. Somehow, when he entered, he triggered some device, and these bombs were about to explode!
Waldo had just realized what was happening.
Boom!
The next moment, there was a deafening explosion! The entire house was engulfed in endless flames and shockwaves!
The power of these explosives was terrifying, and no one could withstand it. In the distance, on the rooftop, the three people turned to look, and they couldn’t help but laugh.
"Haha, I thought Waldo was a formidable guy, but he’s done for now!"
"That explosion, no one, not even a level thirty Waldo, could survive!"
"Hmph, he was too arrogant; he needed to pay the price!"
"Exactly. Posting a reward? It’s laughable. I doubt he even knows who gave out our address."
"Haha, he’s a dead man walking. He won’t even know that the person who provided the information includes us!"
Brigham, Blake, and Tommy watched the massive explosion in the distance and laughed heartily. Their trap had worked, and Waldo had walked right into it. Unless he miraculously survived the explosion, he couldn’t escape death.
No one knew how many explosives they had placed in the house, but it was enough to kill a person a hundred times over.
Once they confirmed Waldo’s death, his tank would be theirs.
"Hehe, that’s right! Not just his tank, but those two women as well. We’ll have them!"
"Damn, those two women are unbelievably beautiful, especially in this world. They’re like rare gems!"
"I haven’t been with such beautiful women before. When they fall into my hands, I’ll enjoy them thoroughly!"
"I’m in, I haven’t had a chance with such pretty women either!"
The three of them had already locked their gazes on Alanna and Helen, who were in the distance. There was no doubt that both women were exceptional beauties, especially in this harsh world, where such individuals were extremely rare.
They couldn’t contain their excitement and continued to share their lecherous thoughts. However, Tommy interrupted, "Not now. Let’s first confirm Waldo’s situation. They won’t be able to escape."
The others nodded in agreement.
They were aware that Waldo was a formidable level thirty survivor. While there was a high probability that he had died in the explosion, there was also a slight chance he might be severely injured. In that case, they would need to finish him off.
They started walking towards the explosion site, intending to search for Waldo’s body. However, halfway there, they abruptly stopped.
Their bodies stiffened as they saw an intact figure standing on the rooftop in the distance, gazing at them with an indifferent expression.
Brigham, Blake, and Tommy felt an indescribable sense of suffocation.
