Apocalypse - Infinite Resource System
Chapter 218: Alliance
Only one-third of the survivors in West District survived!
This number is incredibly heavy.
A whopping two-thirds of the people died!
One can only imagine how horrifying the zombie rampage in West District was!
"My goodness! How could this happen? The casualties are so severe!"
In any case, this day will undoubtedly be the darkest in survivor history.
"I’m very worried about our future, where are we going? I really don’t know, I’m scared, what should we do, brothers!"
"Don’t worry too much, for now, it’s only happening in West District. The number of zombies in the East District is very low; something like what happened in West District is unlikely here."
"Yes, even if the situation in West District affects the East District, we can evacuate to other cities!"
On this dark day, some felt despair, some felt lost, but more still held onto hope. They believed there were other options. As the saying goes, "Where there’s life, there’s hope!" And there are plenty of opportunities ahead.
However, the subsequent developments seemed to gradually defy everyone’s expectations. Just on the second day after the West District incident erupted, just when people thought it might be over, there were signs that the zombies in West District, under the command of the Zombie Lord, were moving towards the East District!
And on the third day, the zombies from West District finally arrived in the East District.
These were just the vanguard forces from West District, totaling around ten thousand zombies. Although it was only ten thousand zombies, their overall strength was quite formidable because they were led by a Level 4 zombie. Among them, there were nearly five hundred Level 3 zombies, and the rest were very powerful Level 2 zombies!
Fortunately, the largest security force in the city, the Guard Camp, encountered this vanguard force. It was well-known that the Guard Camp had always been the largest force in West District. Moreover, almost everyone knew that behind the Guard Camp was the most powerful survivor, Waldo!
Under the Guard Camp’s ambush, they managed to eliminate more than half of the ten thousand zombies, with the rest mostly fleeing. However, the Guard Camp also suffered some casualties.
After this incident, the zombies in West District quieted down for a while. Half a day later, small groups of zombies began to appear in the East District. Gradually, more and more zombies arrived in the East District, and as the situation became increasingly urgent, it was almost getting out of control.
So, someone proposed the idea of forming a joint force to collectively resist the zombies. This proposal received the approval of the majority.
"I think it’s absolutely necessary. Right now, our City No. 25 is facing an unprecedented crisis. If we don’t unite and stand together, we might be completely overrun!"
"Exactly, our survivors are scattered and disorganized. We’re weak on our own and can hardly confront the zombie army. Unity is the only way forward!"
"I don’t know what others are thinking, but saying we should abandon City No. 25? Where would we go once we leave? This place is half of our homeland. We’ve been surviving here, and we’re familiar with it. If we leave, it’ll be hard to survive in other cities."
"In a nutshell, we need to face this crisis, and the best way is to form a joint force to tackle it!"
However, the question remained, who would lead this joint force? At this point, everyone was puzzled. Forming a joint force was not something to be taken lightly.
First, they needed to find someone who could gain the trust of the majority to serve as the commander of this joint force.
Additionally, if they were to unite various major forces, they would have to persuade numerous survivors or survivor teams!
This is not a simple matter! There are too many factors to consider, especially when it comes to forming an alliance; there are too many uncertainties. After all, within each faction, there are people with differing opinions. Making a major decision requires taking into account all aspects of the situation.
At this point, someone asked, "I think there’s only one person who’s most suitable for this, and that’s Waldo!"
However, many people were not optimistic about this suggestion. While Waldo was undeniably powerful, it was well-known that he cared little for fame. The title of commander-in-chief of a joint force might sound prestigious, but for Waldo, it held no real significance.
"Yes, Waldo isn’t like us. He can leave at any time. Why should he risk his life for us here?"
"I believe Waldo has no desire for authority. Look at how many people wanted to be his subordinates before, and they were all rejected. To be honest, this position doesn’t have much appeal." 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
"I feel it’s quite tricky!"
"Since Waldo is unlikely to step forward, what about Delgado from the Guard Camp?"
At this point, someone proposed another candidate, but many expressed their opinions, and except for a few who agreed, most were not in favor. Although Delgado was also an outstanding survivor, he paled in comparison to Waldo.
With Waldo in the picture and Delgado lacking any particularly outstanding qualities, it’s difficult to gain consensus!
As the situation became increasingly urgent, discussions about forming an alliance dragged on without a conclusion. Meanwhile, in the villa area, Waldo, Alanna, and Helen kept a close eye on the chat channels, as well as the current situation in City 25.
Alanna suddenly glanced at Waldo, her face showing a hint of hesitation. Waldo, seeing her expression, couldn’t help but smile and asked, "What’s wrong? Is there something on my face?"
Alanna shook her head. "No, I was wondering how you feel about the alliance."
Waldo thought for a moment and replied, "At the moment, considering the crisis posed by the West District zombies, unity is the best option. There doesn’t seem to be any other way."
Helen chimed in, "So, are you going to step up and encourage the survivors to unite?"
The biggest obstacle to forming an alliance at this point is the lack of someone with enough authority to take charge. So far, Waldo seems to be the most suitable candidate due to his nearly invincible strength.
Waldo replied, "I don’t have any issues with that. To be honest, my main motivation is to confront that zombie lord!"
