Apocalypse - Infinite Resource System
Chapter 219: Supreme Commander
Waldo also had his own considerations.
Firstly, he genuinely wanted to confront the Zombie Lord in battle.
Secondly, Waldo was drawn to the Source stones within the Zombie Lord’s head. The Source stones in the Zombie Lord’s head were definitely of higher quality and quantity compared to those in a third-level zombie.
This greatly intrigued Waldo.
Lastly, regardless of the reasons mentioned above and various other factors, West City would be his home for a long time to come. He had to find a way to resolve this crisis.
Based on these points, and many other significant reasons, Waldo ultimately decided to step up and encourage all factions of City 25 to form an alliance army.
Thus, shortly after, Waldo released an announcement:
"Greetings, survivors of City 25, as well as survivors from other cities. I am Waldo. At this critical juncture, City 25 is facing an unprecedented crisis. I hope that everyone can unite and face this challenge together. The future is unpredictable, and none of us know how things will develop. That’s why I’m urging the formation of an alliance army to confront the massive zombie force in West City.
"I want to emphasize that once this alliance army is formed, I will assume the role of Supreme Commander, leading us to victory against the zombie horde."
This announcement sent shockwaves throughout the community. Many who initially thought Waldo wouldn’t take up the role were now elated. With Waldo at the helm, many of the obstacles and difficulties they faced before seemed negligible.
Soon after Waldo’s announcement, representatives from the major factions in City 25 began discussions about forming the alliance. There were arguments and disagreements during the process, but eventually, they were overcome.
Before long, the alliance army, comprised of survivors from City 25, was officially established. True to his word, Waldo assumed the position of Supreme Commander. From that moment on, all survivors in City 25 were obligated to follow Waldo’s orders without question.
To ensure compliance, the Alliance Headquarters issued a solemn statement:
"Starting today, all survivors of City 25 must fully obey the Alliance Headquarters and the commands of Supreme Commander Waldo. Regardless of your stance on the formation of the alliance army, absolute obedience is required. Any failure to comply will result in personal consequences."
There was no denying that the formation of the alliance army was a positive development.
Many were hopeful that the formation of the alliance army could effectively address the crisis. However, shortly after the alliance army was established, a large number of zombies began pouring in from West City. Battle erupted instantly.
At this moment, in the headquarters of the alliance army, located in the villa area where Waldo resided, numerous powerful survivors had gathered. Many turned their gaze to Waldo. For everyone present, Waldo was the linchpin.
Waldo was studying a map, his brow slightly furrowed, lost in thought. Then, he inquired, "What’s the current situation?"
At this point, it was the third day since the alliance army had been formed. In these few days, the pressure from the zombies on the alliance army had been steadily increasing.
Delgado, stepping forward, was the Deputy Supreme Commander of the alliance army. "Our situation isn’t optimistic," he began. "Though there’s a wide river separating East City from West City, there are still three major bridges connecting the two. Currently, these three bridges are occupied by zombies, and we can’t organize a large-scale assault into East City."
Delgado paused for a moment and indicated the positions of the three bridges on the map. "These are the locations of the three bridges. Currently, the best way to deal with the crisis is to destroy these bridges. However, it’s a stopgap measure and doesn’t address the root issue. West City’s zombies will eventually find other ways into East City."
Waldo nodded slightly as he understood Delgado’s point. Currently, the best way to handle the immediate crisis was to blow up the bridges, cutting off the route for West City’s zombies to enter East City. However, this solution was temporary and wouldn’t prevent West City’s zombies from finding alternative routes into East City in the near future.
After careful consideration, Waldo dismissed the proposal to blow up the bridges. He believed that destroying the bridges might complicate the situation further, making it harder to control. His suggestion was to regain control of the bridges, at least on the eastern side of East City.
"With control of the bridges, they could block the zombies from entering East City and simultaneously launch a decapitation operation. It was widely known that the dire state of the zombies in West City was closely related to the Zombie Lord. Therefore, killing the Zombie Lord would naturally alleviate the crisis."
As Waldo finished speaking, the admiration in the eyes of those present intensified. However, someone raised a valid concern – whether Waldo could actually defeat the Zombie Lord. While they acknowledged Waldo’s tremendous strength, the Zombie Lord was a fifth-tier zombie, an equally terrifying existence.
Waldo didn’t hide the truth. He admitted that, at the moment, he was not a match for the Zombie Lord, but he was confident that he would soon be able to eliminate the Zombie Lord.
Upon hearing this, everyone’s eyes lit up. The atmosphere, which had been oppressive before, suddenly changed. Excitement and hope filled the air. They expressed their belief in Waldo’s ability to handle a fifth-tier zombie, bringing an end to the chaos in West City.
Messages of support flooded in. They pledged to give their all in blocking the zombies and creating the conditions for Waldo to level up.
However, Waldo declined their offers, stating that he was already prepared with the necessary experience points and resources. He encouraged them to focus on regaining control of the bridges and holding off the zombie army for a few days.
Waldo’s words spread quickly, reaching every survivor in City 25. Those who had been weary and had wavering spirits found a renewed sense of confidence and passion in that moment.
