Chapter 593: Chapter 593: Adriana’s Surprise

Once seated, she remained completely still, her fingers curling slightly against her lap as she strained to listen.

Outside, the faint sound of footsteps echoed as more women entered the restroom, their chatter blending into the background.

Then, a voice, clear and unmistakably amused, broke through.

"Aurora looked absolutely adorable when she was trying to hide the fact that she was Miss Dawn."

The words struck Adriana like a thunderclap.

Her eyes widened, her breath catching in her throat as her hand flew to cover her mouth.

’Aurora... is Miss Dawn?’

No, that couldn’t be right. That wasn’t just surprising... it was absurd.

’How can Aurora, my little sister, be Miss Dawn?’

Her thoughts spiraled as Emily’s voice rang out again, laced with fondness.

"What can I do? My own goddaughter is just too capable."

A soft chuckle followed, and Adriana could almost picture the nostalgic smile on Emily’s face.

"I still remember when I had the job. She was barely fifteen, yet she tried so hard to carry herself like an adult."

Adriana’s fingers tightened against her lips.

"And who would have thought," Emily continued with a light laugh, "that the same girl would one day take out a huge gold bar and casually ask me to pass it to her family using some excuse? She was truly adorable."

Adriana’s entire body stiffened. ’A gold bar wasn’t how we got acquainted with Emily...?’

Her heartbeat grew louder in her ears, almost drowning out everything else.

"So it’s true..." she murmured under her breath, her voice barely audible even to herself. "Aurora really is Miss Dawn ..."

Outside, Emily’s voice carried on, almost teasing now.

"Honestly, who would even connect the dots? Me, Miss Dawn’s assistant... working under that little girl? Who would believe that such a young boss even exists?"

Adriana pressed her palm against her chest, trying to steady her racing heart.

"I must be hallucinating..." she whispered shakily. "I’m definitely hallucinating ..."

Soon after, the sound of footsteps began to fade as the group left the restroom.

Adriana remained frozen for a few seconds before finally stepping out of the cubicle.

It took her a full ten minutes to calm down, splashing cold water on her face repeatedly. Yet no matter how much she tried to rationalize it, the words she had heard refused to disappear.

’I need to confirm this myself.’

That night, after everyone returned from the party, Adriana moved with unusual attentiveness.

She poured a glass of water and handed it to Aurora, her movements almost too careful.

Aurora blinked, slightly puzzled, while Olivia raised an eyebrow before letting out a playful chuckle.

"If I didn’t know better," Olivia teased, "I’d think Adriana is serving her boss."

The moment those words left her mouth, Adriana nearly choked on her own breath, her grip tightening around the glass.

Aurora tilted her head, looking at Adriana with confusion. "What’s wrong with you?"

Taking a deep breath, Adriana forced a calm expression onto her face.

"I’m just looking after you," she replied, her tone steady despite the storm inside her. "Is there anything wrong with that?"

Aurora and Olivia exchanged a glance, then Olivia smirked.

"Maybe Adriana is tired."

"Yes, since I have a boyfriend, unlike you, who are still single," Adriana taunted.

At that, Olivia suddenly straightened and laughed.

"Well, not anymore."

Everyone turned to look at her.

She blushed slightly before continuing, "I have a boyfriend now. His name is Louis. I’ll introduce him to everyone by the end of this month."

The room erupted into approving reactions, with everyone giving her a thumbs-up. Even Aurora smiled and raised her thumb.

"My siblings indeed have a knack for finding rare Pokémon," Aurora remarked lightly.

"Adriana found a wealthy heir; Olivia found a wealthy Italian heir; Theodore found a famous critic whose net worth is double what he has; and Lucas has a partner who is wealthy now."

She began pointing playfully at each person, listing them one by one, her tone teasing yet amused.

But Adriana’s mind remained anything but calm.

Later that night, she insisted on sleeping in Aurora’s room.

Aurora stared at her as if she were seeing a ghost, her lips pressed into a thin line.

’What is she up to now?’ Aurora wondered silently.

Still, she allowed Adriana in.

The moment Adriana entered, she collapsed onto the bed as if exhausted, turning away and pretending to sleep.

Aurora stood there for a moment, utterly speechless, before sighing and lying down beside her.

Hours passed.

In the dead of night, when silence wrapped around the house like a blanket, Adriana slowly sat up.

The faint glow of moonlight filtered through the curtains as she quietly reached for Aurora’s laptop.

Her fingers trembled slightly as she opened it and began searching.

Nothing. Everything looked normal.

’No... there has to be something ...’

She frowned, her thoughts racing. ’If Aurora really is Miss Dawn... then she must be hiding it well. Or right... she is a hacker so she might have kept the real folder somewhere else?’

Just as she was lost in thought, a groan echoed behind her.

"What are you doing... at this hour?"

Adriana froze.

Her entire body stiffened as she slowly turned around and nearly screamed.

Aurora was standing right behind her.

At some point, she had woken up and walked over silently.

Adriana clamped a hand over her mouth, her heart nearly leaping out of her chest. She patted her chest frantically, trying to calm herself.

"I... I just got curious..." she stammered. "About something random... like... whether underarm hair grows faster or... or hair in private areas..."

Aurora blinked, then actually paused to think.

"...That’s... a surprisingly serious question."

She folded her arms, her expression turning mildly contemplative.

"But waking up in the middle of the night to search that?" she added dryly. "If someone saw your search history, they might come here just to slap you."

Hearing that, Adriana could only stand there awkwardly, her face burning with embarrassment, while her heart still pounded wildly from both fear and the truth she was desperately trying to uncover.

"So, has your curiosity been satisfied?" Aurora asked, her tone calm but carrying a faint edge of amusement.

Adriana nodded quickly, forcing a casual expression onto her face.

"Yes... I think so."

Aurora narrowed her eyes slightly, studying her as if trying to peel back the layers of her thoughts, then sighed.

"Then go to sleep. It’s the middle of the night, not the time for... whatever this was."

Adriana gave another obedient nod and quietly returned to the bed, the mattress dipping under her weight as she lay down.

She turned her back to Aurora, pretending to settle into sleep, though her mind remained restless.

Meanwhile, Aurora’s gaze shifted toward her laptop.

She tapped a few keys, her fingers moving with practiced ease, and opened a video file.

It was the screen recording.

Earlier, without a word, she had turned on the recording feature, and now every single action Adriana had taken, every search, every hesitation, was captured clearly.

Aurora leaned slightly closer, her expression turning thoughtful as she replayed the footage.

Her brows furrowed.

’What exactly was she trying to find?’

She closed the laptop slowly, her fingers resting on it for a brief moment as she glanced back at Adriana, who appeared to be asleep.

’Something’s off ...’

The next morning arrived too quickly.

Adriana woke up feeling as though she hadn’t slept at all. Her head felt heavy, her eyes sore, and when she caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror, dark circles stared back at her.

’Great... I look like a mess.’

When she stepped out, Olivia immediately noticed and smirked, leaning casually against the wall.

"If I didn’t know better," Olivia teased, "I’d think you’ve developed some kind of sleep disorder overnight."

Adriana shot her an unimpressed look and raised her middle finger without hesitation.

"Very funny."

After breakfast, Adriana headed back to her fashion company.

The familiar environment should have calmed her, but her thoughts were far too tangled.

She had been considering asking someone for help, but no one came to mind.

At least, that’s what she thought, until she spotted her favorite colleague.

Her eyes lit up slightly, and without wasting a second, she hurried toward her.

Rasha stood near the pantry, pouring herself a cup of coffee. When she noticed Adriana approaching, she smiled warmly.

"Good morning."

Adriana returned the greeting quickly, though her voice carried a hint of urgency.

"Morning... I need to ask you something."

Rasha raised an eyebrow, intrigued.

"Alright, go on."

Adriana hesitated for a second before speaking.

"If someone is lying... how can you tell?"

Rasha blinked, then frowned slightly.

"What happened?" she asked, her tone shifting to concern. "Did your boyfriend cheat on you, or is he making excuses?"

Adriana nearly stumbled back, her eyes widening in shock.

"No, no, it’s nothing like that!" she said quickly, shaking her head. "It’s just... a misunderstanding."

She paused, choosing her words carefully.

"I have a sibling who’s hiding something. Is there any way to make them tell the truth?"
