As soon as they entered, they smelled a strong aroma of meals, so delighted that she pulled Jane Sampson and praised her over and over.

When Brooke Black knocked on the door, James Black went to the kitchen to serve the soup. Jane Sampson took a document from Brooke Black at the doorway, and since James hadn’t come out of the kitchen, she hurriedly ran into the room to hide it.

When James came out of the kitchen with the soup, what he saw was Jane Sampson skipping out of the bedroom. He was puzzled for two seconds and turned his gaze to look at Brooke Black.

"Eat, eat, I’ll talk to you while we eat." Brooke Black, not treating herself as a guest at all, sat down and even called Jane Sampson to quickly come and sit.

"A few days ago, I found the reporter you wanted to investigate who bribed someone at the hospital. She’s worked for a pretty big newspaper agency for many years and is considered a senior news media person. But, this reporter doesn’t admit to knowing Jillian Carter, doesn’t admit to having any contact with her, and certainly won’t admit to being instructed by Jillian to bribe Sister Grace."

Brooke Black said, "Anyway, she’s not buying it, won’t say a word."

"What’s the reporter’s name?" Jane Sampson asked.

"She’s not an entertainment reporter; she’s into documentary lifestyle content. Among civilians, she’s quite well known. Her name is Shannon Watson. She also has a Twitter account; you can search for it. A lifestyle reporter, and yet her Twitter has over 100,000 fans." Brooke Black’s tone was somewhat mocking.

"A reporter who can take money to bribe people and fabricate news, and she’s in the business of documenting real life. It’s ridiculous. What’s even more ridiculous is that under her Twitter, a bunch of netizens are praising her as a real journalist. It’s hilarious."

After Brooke Black finished talking, James Black asked, "And the bank doesn’t have any records either?"

"No, after finding out about this person, the first thing we checked was all her bank deposit records. There’s no financial transaction between her and Jillian Carter. Later, we thought maybe Jillian deposited the money into her family or boyfriend’s accounts; we checked that too, and there was nothing."

Not finding anything, Brooke Black felt disheartened.

Because, thinking about it, Jillian Carter remains the prime suspect.

If not Jillian Carter, then who?

"Also, those fake employees detained by the police confessed. They were hired by another hot pot restaurant to cause trouble. That restaurant once had a branch located near Nina’s Hot Pot. After Nina’s opened, that restaurant’s business was greatly affected, and business at that branch steadily declined. The shop has recently been put up for transfer."

Brooke Black clicked her tongue, "Coincidentally, the shop owner is the cousin of Shannon Watson’s boyfriend. Their family is in the restaurant business."

This coincidence also indicates that even the people pretending to be employees causing trouble at the hot pot store’s entrance are related to Shannon Watson.
