Chasing His Ex: The Tycoon's Hidden Twins
Chapter 121 - 119: Lu Fan Adds His Daughter-in-law’s WeChat, Wen Wan Acts as the Intermediary
Jiang Sifan didn’t want to admit it.
But after hearing the answers to these questions, his opinion of his biological father, Lu Fan, had started to change slightly.
He had originally thought Lu Fan was just some nouveau riche upstart.
Someone who, after getting rich, started frequenting high-end places and keeping supermodels and starlets as mistresses.
He thought the man had no substance or sophistication whatsoever.
That was why his hatred for Lu Fan ran so deep.
He believed his mother, Jiang Yixia, was such an outstanding woman.
Yet she had the misfortune of ending up with a heartless man like Lu Fan.
Jiang Sifan felt his mother deserved better.
Sometimes, he even thought that if his mother had hardened her heart and had an abortion back then, she might have had a much better life.
Of course, if she had, he and his sister would never have existed.
But when he remembered being bullied all his life, taunted for not having a father, the Jiang Sifan from back then truly felt it would have been better not to have been born at all.
He didn’t think that way anymore, though.
He had endured it all and was about to see the light of dawn.
He was starting a business, making money, and his grades placed him among the top students.
Not only was he making his mother proud, but he could also act as the pillar of the family.
Just when Jiang Sifan thought everything was finally looking up, his biological father had to show up out of nowhere.
And now, that same father was right in front of him, giving a lecture on that long stage.
Jiang Sifan found it all a bit ironic.
Life is like a play, and a play is like life—perhaps those ten words were a perfect reflection of his own experience.
But even if he admitted that Lu Fan did possess some knowledge and education, he wouldn’t admire him or try to curry favor.
Jiang Sifan had his pride!!
He would never accept a single cent from Lu Fan!
Soon, time passed.
The seminar came to an end as scheduled.
Lu Fan held the microphone and said, "Thank you all for listening to me ramble for the past hour. If any students have more questions, feel free to find me privately to discuss them. Thank you."
The moment he finished speaking, many students swarmed forward.
Jiang Sifan saw how popular Lu Fan was.
He felt a mix of envy and displeasure, especially when he saw several pretty girls from other classes crowding around him.
’No matter how you try to build up your image, you’re still a womanizer!’ Jiang Sifan had no intention of discussing anything further with him. He gathered his things and turned to leave.
Seeing this, Wen Wan asked, "Class Rep, aren’t... aren’t you going to say hello to your father?"
"No," Jiang Sifan said coldly. "He’s him, and I’m me. We have nothing to do with each other. Are you going back to your dorm? I can walk you."
"You don’t have to walk me, Class Rep. I’m going to the library. I think a lot of what your father said today is relevant to the problems our startup team is facing. I want to organize my notes so we can tackle them one by one," Wen Wan explained with a smile.
Hearing her words, Jiang Sifan was quite touched. "Wen Wan, you’re always thinking about our startup team. You’ve really worked hard."
He then added with a sigh, "Why didn’t we interact more at the beginning of the semester? With our powers combined, if we had connected earlier, our startup might have taken off long ago."
Wen Wan blushed and replied, "Class Rep, you’re usually so popular... I... I never had a chance to talk to you."
"I’m popular?" Jiang Sifan was taken aback.
"Y-Yes, you are. The girls in our class always go to you with their problems, just like how people are going to your father to discuss things now. Actually, both you and your father are very exceptional people. You shouldn’t sell yourself short," Wen Wan encouraged.
Jiang Sifan’s eyes even grew a little moist.
If there weren’t so many people around, he would have wanted to pull Wen Wan into a tight hug and give her a good squeeze.
Of course, he just wanted to give her a simple hug to express his gratitude, not to be a creep.
Jiang Sifan said with relief, "Okay, I’ll never sell myself short, don’t worry. And we’re both exceptional! You’re exceptional too, so don’t you ever look down on yourself."
Wen Wan nodded. "Mhm~"
And with that, Jiang Sifan left.
Wen Wan, however, stayed behind, continuing to look at what Lu Fan had written on the blackboard and copying down all the useful information.
She had originally wanted to approach the stage and ask Lu Fan some questions about the seminar.
But seeing the crowd of students around Lu Fan, her innate social anxiety made her give up the idea.
She then packed her things and prepared to head to the library.
Before long, a luxury car slowly pulled up beside her.
The window rolled down to reveal Lu Fan, who smiled and said to her, "You must be student Wen Wan?"
When Wen Wan saw it was Lu Fan, she immediately grew nervous and gave a slight bow. "P-President Lu, hello."
"Where are you headed now?"
"I’m going to the library," Wen Wan explained, her face turning red.
Lu Fan offered, "The library is still a ways off. Why don’t you get in? I’ll give you a ride."
Wen Wan hesitated for a moment before nodding in agreement.
And so, she got into the car.
As soon as she sat down, Wen Wan felt a little tense.
After all, she had never been in such a luxurious car before and was clearly a bit stiff.
Lu Fan broke the silence. "Let me introduce myself. My name is Lu Fan, and I’m also Sifan’s father. I saw you sitting next to Sifan just now and remembered you, so I brazenly invited you to join me for a bit."
"Thank you, President Lu." Wen Wan’s cheeks were flushed, and she didn’t know what to say.
"You can call me Uncle Lu. There’s no need to be nervous. I heard you and Sifan are starting a business, which I think is very impressive. That’s why I specifically chose ’college student entrepreneurship’ as the topic for this seminar. I hope the content was helpful to you."
Hearing this, Wen Wan said in surprise, "Uncle Lu, you knew the Class Rep and I were starting a business?"
"I’ve asked around a little. And your progress is excellent. For two freshmen to get a project this far is already very impressive," Lu Fan said with a smile.
’Sure enough,’ Wen Wan thought, ’Lu Fan really does care about Jiang Sifan in secret.’
She immediately said gratefully, "Thank you for the compliment, Uncle Lu."
"By the way, was there anything from the seminar you didn’t understand?" Lu Fan asked.
Wen Wan hesitated, then took a notebook out of her bag and asked quietly, "Actually, there are a few things I don’t quite understand."
"Oh? Is that so? Let me see." Lu Fan took the notebook.
When he saw Wen Wan’s beautiful handwriting, he couldn’t help but praise it. "Your handwriting is gorgeous."
Wen Wan grew shy upon hearing his compliment.
Lu Fan then began discussing the questions in her notebook with her.
During their conversation, Wen Wan gradually started to relax.
Her face wasn’t as red anymore, and she proactively asked Lu Fan about the later stages of operations for their accounting and tax filing service.
Lu Fan offered his own insights.
Listening to his advice, Wen Wan had a moment of sudden enlightenment. It was as if a fog had been lifted.
She couldn’t help but say with admiration, "Uncle Lu, you’re amazing."
"Actually, you two are the amazing ones. I didn’t have your kind of ability when I was young," Lu Fan said, praising Wen Wan in return.
Then he probed, "By the way, has Sifan ever mentioned me to you?"
Wen Wan hesitated for a moment, thinking, then finally nodded. "He has."
"Then you must know about my family’s situation," Lu Fan said with a chuckle.
Wen Wan fell silent, not knowing what to say.
Lu Fan then suggested, "Student Wen Wan, why don’t you add me on WeChat? If you run into any bottlenecks during your startup process, or if anything comes up, you can always message me."
Hearing this, Wen Wan immediately agreed. "Okay, Uncle."
Just then, the car slowly came to a stop in front of the library.
Wen Wan got out and waved to Lu Fan inside the car. "Goodbye, Uncle."
"Goodbye." Lu Fan smiled, feeling very pleased as he looked at his future daughter-in-law again.
’What a gentle, kind, and good girl.’
’Just like Jiang Yixia back in the day.’
’And they both have one very obvious trait in common: they’re exceptionally beautiful.’
’It seems that kid Jiang Sifan has the exact same taste as me.’
After Lu Fan drove away, Wen Wan looked at the new WeChat contact she had just added.
In truth, besides being able to consult Lu Fan about startup questions, she had a small, ulterior motive.
She wanted to help the Class Rep and his father reconcile.
From their brief interaction, Wen Wan could clearly sense that Lu Fan was very concerned about Jiang Sifan.
As someone who hadn’t felt much love in her own family, she naturally hoped that Jiang Sifan could have a complete and perfect one.
But for now, Jiang Sifan’s hatred for his father was still very apparent.
All Wen Wan could do was quietly show her concern while by the Class Rep’s side.
As for Lu Fan, after finishing his lecture at Jinling Institute of Technology, he planned to make a trip to Jinling University to see Jiang Silu.
However, according to his bodyguards’ observations, Jiang Silu hadn’t gone to class this morning and had been in her dorm room the whole time.
At first, Lu Fan thought Jiang Silu might be in her dorm, painting.
But on second thought, he knew his daughter wasn’t one to skip class.
No matter how busy or tired she was, she would always diligently attend her daytime classes.
So he gave Jiang Silu a call.
But there was no answer.
Just then, Jiali suggested, "Boss, how about I disguise myself as a female student and go in to check on the Young Miss?"
"Hold on a moment."
Lu Fan sent a message to Song Miaomiao.
Lu Fan: [Miaomiao, I called Silu, but she didn’t pick up. Did something happen?]
At that moment, Song Miaomiao’s class had just ended.
When she saw Lu Fan’s message, she immediately replied: [Uncle Lu, Silu’s stomach was feeling a little upset this morning, so I got her excused from class. She’s resting in the dorm now. I’ll head back right away to see how she is.]
After sending the message, Song Miaomiao rushed back to the dorm without a moment’s delay.
When Lu Fan saw the message, he realized something was wrong.
He immediately had Jiali enter the women’s dormitory complex.
They had already gathered all of Jiang Silu’s personal information beforehand.
So Jiali knew her exact dorm room and bed number by heart.
When she reached the dorm room door, she could see through the window that Jiang Silu was lying on her bed, her expression seemingly pained.
Jiali knocked on the door and called out, "Silu, what’s wrong? Silu, open the door."
But from inside the room, Jiang Silu didn’t react at all.
Just as Jiali was about to go downstairs to get the key from the dorm manager, Song Miaomiao, Lu Yao, and the others came rushing back.
They saw the assistant, Jiali, and immediately greeted her, "Sister Jiali!"
Jiali wasted no time and gestured to them. "Quick, open the door."
Seeing Jiali’s expression, Song Miaomiao and the others grew flustered. They took out their keys and hurriedly unlocked the door.
Lu Yao was the first to rush into the dorm. She looked at Jiang Silu and asked, "Lulu, what’s wrong?"
Song Miaomiao was also scared. "Lulu, are you okay?"
Jiang Silu’s face was pale, and she seemed dazed. She tried to open her eyes but was unable to.
Seeing this, Jiali contacted Lu Fan while hoisting Jiang Silu onto her back and carrying her downstairs.
"Boss, the Young Miss has fainted! We need to go to the hospital!"
