Chasing His Ex: The Tycoon's Hidden Twins
Chapter 122 - 120: Jiang Silu: Don’t Go, I’m Scared of Being Alone
When Lu Fan heard what Jiali said, he immediately signaled for Chen He to turn the car around.
After Jiali helped Jiang Silu into the car, Lu Fan asked Song Miaomiao and the others, "What’s wrong with Silu?"
Song Miaomiao said anxiously, "Silu didn’t go to the hotel to work on her drawings last night. She wasn’t feeling well, so she went to bed early. This morning, she asked us to call out for her, saying she’d be fine after sleeping a little longer in the dorm. But we didn’t expect to come back and find her condition had gotten much worse."
After listening, Lu Fan nodded. "Okay, I understand the general situation. I’ll take Silu to the hospital first. You don’t need to worry."
With that, the car started and pulled away.
Song Miaomiao and Lu Yao watched the car leave, a wave of worry washing over them.
Inside the car.
Lu Fan first touched Jiang Silu’s forehead.
It was burning hot.
It seemed she had a high fever.
He quickly grabbed a bottle of water, put an arm around Jiang Silu, and whispered, "Here, Silu, drink a little water."
Jiang Silu had regained some consciousness. Although she didn’t open her eyes, she could recognize her father’s voice.
She parted her lips slightly and took a small sip of the mineral water.
Seeing how much discomfort she was in, Lu Fan asked Chen He, "How long until we get to the hospital?"
"Boss, give me ten minutes." Chen He’s expression was grim, his full attention focused on the road.
His goal was to get the car to the hospital as fast as possible.
Meanwhile, Jiali was in charge of contacting a doctor at Jinling Lihua Hospital.
Although Lu Fan had a private doctor,
he also had deep connections at a private hospital in Jinling.
Jiali called the hospital’s vice dean. "Hello, Vice Dean Jin? This is President Lu’s assistant. President Lu’s daughter has a high fever and isn’t doing well. We’re on our way to your hospital now. Could you arrange for a doctor to meet us?"
The vice dean on the other end of the line immediately promised, "No problem. I’ll have the department director and nurses wait for you at the hospital entrance right away."
After sorting everything out, Jiali, sitting in the front passenger seat, turned to look back at Lu Fan. "Boss, it’s all arranged with the hospital. Vice Dean Jin has people waiting for us at the entrance."
"Good." Lu Fan looked at Jiang Silu’s pained expression, his heart aching for her.
Jiang Silu was trembling nonstop, murmuring, "S-So... so cold."
Seeing this, Lu Fan immediately took off his jacket and draped it over his daughter.
He then looked at Chen He and said, "Turn off all the air conditioning in the car."
"Boss, I already turned it off."
"Check again."
"Yes, Boss."
Even though Lu Fan couldn’t feel any airflow from the AC, he had Chen He check again just to be safe.
After all, Jiang Silu was shivering uncontrollably, still trembling slightly even after he covered her with his jacket.
This proved her fever was quite severe.
Looking at his daughter, Lu Fan was suddenly reminded of a time when Jiang Yixia had been just as seriously ill.
Back then, he hadn’t bought a car yet and couldn’t find a taxi anywhere.
Left with no other choice, he had to take Jiang Yixia to the hospital on his electric scooter.
The memory filled Lu Fan with a pang of guilt.
But that night, Jiang Yixia had still forced herself to stay awake and chat with him.
They talked about everything under the sun.
The only thing she never mentioned was how nice it would have been to have a car.
Later, when he made money, the first thing he did was buy a luxury car and take Jiang Yixia out for a drive.
But as Lu Fan grew richer and richer, his heart and mind changed completely.
’Perhaps Jiang Yixia was thinking back then that she would have preferred him not to become so wealthy, that it would have been better if he’d stayed that poor kid on the electric scooter.’
At this thought, Lu Fan held Jiang Silu even tighter.
In these eighteen years, he had missed most of Jiang Yixia’s life, and he had missed the first half of his daughter’s life.
He absolutely couldn’t let anything happen to them now.
Just as Lu Fan was about to ask why they still hadn’t arrived at the hospital, Chen He spoke up. "Boss, we’re here. The doctors are right ahead."
With that, the car came to a stop.
Jiali immediately ran to the back to open the door.
Lu Fan got out of the car and immediately scooped Jiang Silu into his arms.
Jiang Silu tried to wrap her arms around her dad’s neck, but she was probably too weak. Her hands never made it, and she could only rest them against Lu Fan’s chest.
Seeing this, Lu Fan immediately said to the doctor, "Doctor, quickly! She has a high fever. She started feeling unwell last night, and we don’t know what caused it."
The doctor took one look and had Lu Fan place Jiang Silu on a stretcher.
Then, as he began examining her, he had the nurses push the stretcher toward an examination room.
Such a large commotion naturally drew the attention of others.
When they saw more than a dozen doctors and nurses swarming around one girl, they even thought she was on the verge of death.
Lu Fan followed the doctors and waited outside the examination room.
During this time, Vice Dean Jin also arrived.
He first glanced at the situation in the examination room, then came out and said to Lu Fan, "It should be nothing serious. We’ll let you know after Director Qian finishes his examination."
"Thank you for your trouble, Vice Dean Jin." Lu Fan nodded.
Vice Dean Jin explained, "President Lu, you’re too kind. You once donated a batch of imported medical equipment to us. We will absolutely not be careless with your daughter’s case."
"That was several years ago. I’m surprised you still remember, Vice Dean Jin," Lu Fan replied.
Vice Dean Jin chuckled. "One must not forget a kindness."
Just as they were speaking, the doctor came out.
Lu Fan immediately stood up and asked, "Director Qian, is my daughter going to be all right?"
Director Qian took off his mask and replied, "President Lu, please don’t worry. It’s most likely influenza A. Although her fever is quite high, it’s nothing serious. Has she been particularly tired recently? I noticed she has rather dark circles under her eyes. Her immune system was probably weakened, which led to a viral infection."
Lu Fan nodded and explained, "She’s been preparing for a design competition recently. She’s probably been staying up late at night to work on her drawings and hasn’t been resting well."
"That would explain it," Director Qian gestured. "We’ll still need to draw some blood for testing to confirm if it’s a viral infection."
"Okay. Thank you for your trouble, Director Qian." Lu Fan extended his hand in a friendly gesture of thanks.
At this point, Vice Dean Jin suggested, "President Lu, how about I arrange a VIP room for your daughter to rest in? After the blood draw and the IV drip, she can rest for a day before going home."
"Great. We’ll go with your arrangement, then, Dean."
And so, without ever having to get off the stretcher, Jiang Silu was wheeled by the nurses all the way into the VIP room.
Just as the nurses were about to lift Jiang Silu onto the bed, Lu Fan stepped in and said, "Let me."
With that, he swept her up in a princess carry and gently placed her on the hospital bed.
By now, Jiang Silu was gradually regaining full consciousness.
She watched Lu Fan gently lay her down, and she was instantly filled with a sense of a father’s love.
Soon, the nurses began the process of drawing blood and other procedures.
During the procedure, Lu Fan comforted her, "It’s okay, Silu. Just bear with it for a moment, and the pain will be gone."
Jiang Silu turned her head to the side, her expression pained.
Lu Fan held her hand to encourage her.
At first, Jiang Silu didn’t really register it. It was only after the blood draw was finished that she noticed Lu Fan had been holding her hand.
Recalling the sensation, she thought about how large Lu Fan’s hand was.
Just like how she had always imagined a father’s hand would be.
So strong.
When she was little, she would often fantasize about holding her dad’s hand while strolling through the park.
But sadly, that wish never came true, even as she grew up.
Now, just when she had gotten used to a life without a father, Lu Fan had suddenly appeared. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
And not only that, he was quietly caring for her.
Young women are often sentimental by nature.
To have someone care for you when you’re at your most vulnerable is enough to move your heart.
At this thought, Jiang Silu’s eyes gradually grew moist, tears welling in the corners.
Seeing this, Lu Fan thought she was crying from the pain of the needle and immediately asked, "Was that nurse too rough when she removed the needle? I’ll go have a word with her."
Jiang Silu shook her head.
She said in a small voice, "I used to fantasize about this, too... that when I got sick, Mom and Dad would both be by my side."
"But I fantasized about it for eighteen years, and it never happened. Now that it suddenly has, it feels a little surreal."
Only then did Lu Fan understand why she was crying. He gently stroked her head and said, "I’m sorry. Dad missed out on your lives before, but not anymore. From now on, Dad will always be by your side."
Jiang Silu nodded, her expression vulnerable, as if she believed his words.
No—his promise.
Just as they were talking, a nurse came in again and said to Jiang Silu, "Okay, I’m going to start your IV now to bring down the fever. It’s quite high."
"Okay."
After the IV was set up, the blood test results came back.
It was indeed the flu.
The doctor prescribed the appropriate treatment.
Jiang Silu looked at the two IV bags hanging above her, and something suddenly occurred to her. She looked at Lu Fan and said, "I still have to go back and finish my drawings for the submission..."
"You’re sick. What drawings are you going back to do?" Lu Fan said, his voice laced with concern.
"But the submission is due tomorrow," Jiang Silu explained. "For the Waterside Corridor I designed, my senior said the colors were off and told me to revise it."
Lu Fan immediately said, "How about Dad has one of the company’s designers draw it for you?"
Jiang Silu shook her head again. "No, that’s cheating. I have to enter the competition with my own work."
Looking at his earnest daughter, Lu Fan thought for a couple of seconds before saying, "How about this? I’ll have someone go get your computer and design drafts. Then, Dad will ask a company designer to come here. You can tell him your ideas, and he can execute them. That should be okay, right?"
Hearing this, Jiang Silu had no choice but to nod in agreement.
After all, forcing herself to draw in her current condition didn’t seem very realistic.
With this matter settled and her mind at ease, Jiang Silu’s eyelids grew heavier and heavier, and she started to feel drowsy.
Lu Fan stayed by her side, watching over her, not leaving for a moment.
About half an hour passed like this. He wanted to call Chen He to ask if he had gotten the computer.
Just as he was about to stand up and step away, Jiang Silu murmured, "Don’t go... I’m scared by myself..."
Lu Fan glanced at the quiet surroundings, then sat back down and soothed her, "Okay, Dad won’t go. Dad will stay right here with you."
