Chasing His Ex: The Tycoon's Hidden Twins
Chapter 126 - 123: Jiang Sifan Arrives at the Hospital and Talks with Lu Fan
When Lu Fan heard Jiang Silu’s praise, he breathed a sigh of relief.
He then smiled. "Really? You’re not just saying that to make me happy, are you?"
Jiang Silu shook her head and said affirmatively, "It’s really good. It tastes like Mom’s cooking."
Although Lu Fan was only pretending to ask, he could tell Jiang Silu wasn’t lying.
You can’t fake the look on someone’s face when they’re truly happy.
This surprised him a little. He never would have thought he had a talent for cooking.
Before he could get too happy, Jiang Silu giggled and whispered, "But I think you put a little too much sugar in the sweet and sour pork. It’s a bit cloying~"
"I heard from your mom that you like sweet things, so I figured I’d add a little extra sugar. I guess it backfired," Lu Fan chuckled.
"But for your first time making sweet and sour pork, this is already amazing." Jiang Silu was still very encouraging.
Lu Fan gestured to the food. "Then eat up. You need to eat more when you’re sick to get your nutrients."
"Okay~" 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
「At the same time.」
Two hours earlier, Jiang Sifan had sent Jiang Silu 500 yuan.
He had also attached a message: [Your big brother’s treat! Go spend it.]
He originally thought Jiang Silu would accept the transfer instantly.
But to his surprise, after waiting a full two or three hours, there was still no activity on WeChat.
At first, Jiang Sifan thought she was in class, but then it occurred to him that Jiang Silu shouldn’t have any classes at this time.
After mulling it over, he decided to give Jiang Silu a call.
At that moment, Jiang Silu was still eating the food Lu Fan had made.
Although she didn’t have much of an appetite today because of her illness, Lu Fan’s cooking was genuinely delicious, so she managed to eat a few extra bites.
Her phone rang.
Jiang Silu picked up her phone and saw it was a call from Jiang Sifan.
She glanced at Lu Fan before answering. "Brother, what’s up?"
"It’s nothing. I sent you some pocket money, but I saw you hadn’t accepted it yet, so I thought something might have happened. Are you in class?" Jiang Sifan asked.
Jiang Silu answered in a small voice, "I... I’m at the hospital."
Just as she expected, Jiang Sifan immediately grew anxious on the other end of the line. "What’s wrong with you? What happened?"
Jiang Silu replied, "I have a high fever. The doctor said it’s the flu. I was just getting an IV drip in my room."
"Which hospital are you in? I’m coming over right now," Jiang Sifan said urgently.
Jiang Silu explained, "Brother, you don’t have to come. My IV drip is finished. I’m fine."
"I have an electric scooter now. I can get there really fast. Tell me which hospital," Jiang Sifan asked again.
Lu Fan, who was nearby, had naturally overheard the two kids’ conversation, so he prompted her, "Lihua Hospital."
Seeing that Lu Fan had volunteered the hospital’s name, she relayed it to Jiang Sifan. "It’s Lihua Hospital, room... 531."
"Okay, wait for me. I’ll be there soon." Jiang Sifan immediately hung up.
Jiang Silu looked at Lu Fan awkwardly. She knew that the relationship between her father and her brother was still very stiff.
If the two of them came face-to-face, they would definitely be at each other’s throats.
She didn’t know what to do.
Lu Fan, however, was quite calm. After all, he had just seen Jiang Sifan this morning.
However, he needed to have Jiali stay away.
After all, Jiang Sifan didn’t know yet that Jiali was the one Lu Fan had sent to help them.
After Jiali left, Lu Fan sat by the hospital bed, a gratified smile on his face as he watched Jiang Silu eat.
Jiang Silu felt a bit shy, but she had also rarely seen such a warm expression on Lu Fan’s face.
Plus, Sister Jiali had said before that Lu Fan hadn’t started a family with any other woman.
’Perhaps he’s really longing for a complete family life right now.’
Thinking of this, Jiang Silu cautiously asked Lu Fan, "How are things between you and Mom?"
Lu Fan thought about how Jiang Yixia had just hung up on him and gave an awkward smile. "They’re okay."
Then he asked tentatively, "So... do you want your mom and me to get back together?"
Jiang Silu first nodded, then quickly shook her head, but two seconds later, she nodded again.
In the end, she fell silent.
She didn’t know if she wanted her father and mother to reconcile.
Jiang Silu had always hated making decisions; her brother or mother had always helped her since she was little. Now, faced with such a serious question, she didn’t know how to respond for a moment.
Seeing her reaction, Lu Fan chuckled. "Don’t feel pressured. Even if you don’t want your mom and me to get back together right now, that’s perfectly normal. After all, I was gone for eighteen years. I wasn’t there for any of your joys or sorrows. Anyone in your shoes would have every right not to forgive me."
"So I’m going to use my time and actions to prove that I truly want to make it up to you all."
Hearing this, Jiang Silu was moved. She then said in a small voice, "Actually, I know... you really care about me, my brother, and Mom. It’s probably not just me; my brother and Mom might just need a little more time to accept it."
Seeing how understanding Jiang Silu was, Lu Fan was gratified. "Don’t worry, Dad definitely won’t give up. I will earn your forgiveness, and your brother’s, and your mom’s."
"Mhm!" Jiang Silu gave a shy smile.
On the other side, Jiang Sifan told Wen Wan about Jiang Silu’s illness.
He had originally planned to go to the hospital alone.
Unexpectedly, Wen Wan said anxiously, "Class Rep, why don’t I go too... I’ll see if I can help with anything."
’If Silu needs another IV drip and has to go to the restroom, she’ll need a girl to go with her,’ Jiang Sifan thought. ’It can’t hurt to bring Wen Wan along.’
So, he headed toward Lihua Hospital with Wen Wan.
The main roads were nothing like the campus paths, and traffic was much heavier.
Jiang Sifan told Wen Wan, who was behind him, "Wen Wan, hold onto my clothes."
"Okay..." Wen Wan cautiously gripped the fabric of Jiang Sifan’s shirt at his waist.
The two of them were closer than usual.
Accelerating and braking meant physical contact.
During the ride, Jiang Sifan could occasionally feel Wen Wan’s softness against him.
His face gradually grew hot and flushed.
He wasn’t a dirty-minded person, but the stop-and-go traffic made it unavoidable.
After all, Jiang Sifan was a vigorous young man.
He was simultaneously chiding himself for it and selfishly enjoying it...
Soon, they arrived at Lihua Hospital.
Following the front desk’s directions, they quickly reached the inpatient ward.
Jiang Sifan grew more and more anxious as he walked.
’Silu just said it was the flu,’ he thought worriedly, ’so why is she in the inpatient department?’
Filled with anxiety and confusion, he finally arrived at Jiang Silu’s room.
He pushed open the door.
Jiang Sifan’s expression changed in an instant.
He hadn’t expected Lu Fan to be there too.
Jiang Silu, forcing herself to stay alert, smiled. "Brother, you’re here?~"
Jiang Sifan pulled Wen Wan inside.
Lu Fan also looked at Jiang Sifan. "Sifan, you’re here."
But Jiang Sifan didn’t speak to Lu Fan. Instead, he went to Jiang Silu’s side and asked, "What’s going on? Why are you in the inpatient ward?"
"It’s nothing, really. I’m just getting my IV drip here because it’s more comfortable to lie down." Jiang Silu took the opportunity to speak up for Lu Fan. "It was... Uncle Lu who arranged it."
Jiang Silu knew Jiang Sifan was still very hostile toward Lu Fan, so she didn’t dare call him "Dad" in front of her brother, using "Uncle Lu" instead.
Jiang Sifan ignored that part and continued to ask, "So how are you feeling now? Has the fever gone down?"
"Much better now. The fever’s gone down a bit, but it’s still over 38 degrees," Jiang Silu replied.
Hearing that, Jiang Sifan frowned. "Still over 38 degrees?"
"I’m already much better. Look, this is the food Uncle Lu made for me," Jiang Silu said, pointing at the half-eaten meal.
Jiang Sifan looked down and saw it was scrambled eggs with tomato and sweet and sour pork, both Jiang Silu’s favorites.
Although his expression didn’t change much, a hint of surprise could be seen in his eyes.
At this moment, Lu Fan spoke up. "Silu is fine. She’s just been working too hard on her drawings lately, which weakened her immune system and gave the flu virus an opportunity."
Hearing this, Jiang Sifan immediately started lecturing her, "I’ve told you not to stay up all night drawing. Is that competition piece really that important?"
Jiang Silu nodded and said seriously, "It’s very important."
Jiang Sifan was helpless against his sister. He could only sit down, preparing to nag her some more.
Seeing this, Lu Fan decided not to disturb the siblings’ reunion.
Besides, he knew that after he left, Jiang Silu would naturally put in a good word for him.
If he stayed, Jiang Silu would be too embarrassed to speak up.
So he stepped out of the room to wander around for a bit.
Sure enough, as soon as Lu Fan was gone, Jiang Silu started trying to persuade her brother. "Brother, you should be nicer to our dad. If it weren’t for him, I would have passed out from the fever this afternoon."
"What exactly happened?" Jiang Sifan asked, puzzled.
"I started feeling unwell last night. This morning, I didn’t go to class and had my roommate call in sick for me. Then I fell into a deeper and deeper sleep, and I felt worse and worse. I wanted to get up, but I had no strength."
"Dad’s assistant came to find me and carried me downstairs on her back. Dad brought me to the hospital, and he carried me in his arms the whole time." As she said this, Jiang Silu was filled with emotion.
She pointed to the sweet and sour pork and the remaining scrambled eggs with tomato in the food container. "He doesn’t know how to cook, so he learned on the spot just for this. He asked Mom for the recipes and then made these two dishes for me."
"He really is treating you well, then," Jiang Sifan said calmly.
"Actually, he’s very good to you too. You’re just always hostile toward him," Jiang Silu replied.
Jiang Sifan snorted. "Hah. How has he been good to me? I’ve barely even seen him. Besides, I don’t need him to be good to me."
He checked the time and asked, "By the way, are you staying here tonight?"
"I think I have to stay for one night. It’s still over 38 degrees. I’m afraid if my fever gets worse tonight, I’ll pass out," Jiang Silu answered.
"In that case, I’ll stay and keep you company tonight," Jiang Sifan proposed.
He looked at Wen Wan. "Wen Wan, I’ll take you back in a bit. Then I’ll stay here with my sister tonight."
Jiang Silu looked over and saw it was the Sweet Sister she had met in the cafeteria the other day.
She immediately grabbed Wen Wan’s hand excitedly. "Sister Wen Wan, hello!~ We’ve met before."
Wen Wan blushed slightly and smiled. "I remember. Hello, Silu~"
"Has starting the business with my brother been tiring? Does he often push all the work onto you?" While saying this, Jiang Silu deliberately glanced at Jiang Sifan.
Wen Wan immediately spoke up for Jiang Sifan. "No... no, Class Rep is very good to me. He often takes on all the work himself and doesn’t let me do it."
"Haha, that’s good. Let him do more. You can just be in charge of cheering him on," Jiang Silu laughed.
Jiang Sifan was speechless. "You don’t seem sick at all. How can you still be so sharp-tongued?"
"That’s because I saw a pretty girl! I just love talking to pretty girls~" Jiang Silu said, making a funny face.
Being complimented like that by Jiang Silu, Wen Wan naturally grew shy.
Seeing the two girls getting along so well, Jiang Sifan found he had no room to get a word in, so he decided to step outside for some air.
But when he opened the door to the room, his eyes met Lu Fan’s, who was standing right across the hall.
So, Jiang Sifan walked toward him.
