"Master Lin." The guards at the gate greeted Lin Xuan Qi when he arrived back at the mansion.

Lin Xuan Qi nodded his head at them and entered through the gates with a sigh of relief.

There weren’t any attacks on the mansion and everyone was going about with their daily activities. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞

Servant girls were cleaning and tending to the interior and exterior.

The rustling of the leaves when they swept the fallen leaves gave him a sense of comfort with its monotonous rhythm.

"Xuan Qi?" Xue Cong was surprised to see him back so early but she was happy for it.

He had been so busy for the past few days and she felt that he deserved a good rest for it.

"I’ve gotten most of the things settled so I can come back earlier today." Lin Xuan Qi replied and sat onto his favorite chair looking out towards the gates from the main hall.

He wasn’t lying as the production was already going well before the attacks from the rogue cultivators happened.

The factories would be able to continue their production once the delivery of the kelp resumed.

Xue Cong sat beside him, poured him a cup of tea and said, "That’s great. It’s been so long since you’ve spent time in the mansion."

She recalled the times they had previously, before he had so many businesses to deal with.

But she wasn’t about to complain as she had benefited much from the profits they made.

The only qualm she had was not being able to spend more time with him.

"Did anything unusual happen today?" Lin Xuan Qi took a sip of his teacup and asked.

"No." Xue Cong shook her head and asked, "What’s the matter?"

Lin Xuan Qi gave out a sigh and said, "Nothing. Just be on high alert for anyone suspicious."

He didn’t want her to know too much about the struggles between the Sima Family and the Six Pulse Sword Sect.

It was best for him to avoid letting her be too worried about it.

After all, she already had the mansion to take care of and he didn’t want to make it worse for her.

Xue Cong nodded her head and said, "I will. The only outsiders coming to the mansion are those helping out with the items required for the wedding so far, and all of them gave no troubles.

"Other than that, there were only the usual suppliers for the food and daily essential items for the mansion."

She had been busy with the preparations of the wedding and it was going smoothly so far.

Lin Xuan Qi glanced around the main hall which was now covered in the familiar auspicious red again.

He held onto her hand and said, "Thanks."

Xue Cong didn’t say anything and nodded her head at him.

She was happy as long as it made him happy.

"When we have the time, I’ll bring you to Bian Jing and we can have a great time walking through the busy streets." Lin Xuan Qi said and it made Xue Cong want it to be possible.

But she shook her head when she thought about the things in the mansion that needed to be taken care of.

Lin Xuan Qi saw her shaking her head and knew what she was thinking about.

He patted on the back of her hand and said, "Ask Yue Xin and Liu Shi Shi to take care of the mansion while you and Yue Jie come visit Bian Jing with me for a change."

It would be fair if he brought Xue Cong and Yue Jie on a visit to Bian Jing too.

And if the trip could get Xue Cong to teach Yue Xin and Liu Shi Shi on taking care of the mansion, it might help Xue Cong with her workload going forward.

Most important of all, he could replenish and buy more of the cultivation resources he required if he visited Bian Jing again.

The talismans had proven to be useful and he wanted to buy more of the talisman paper and ink.

"I can try, but it depends on how much Yue Xin and Shi Shi can learn." Xue Cong finally relented, nodded her head and said.

She wasn’t sure but when she thought about the scenes and sights that Yue Xin and Liu Shi Shi had told her about, she wanted to see it for herself so badly.

It would be great for her to be able to go through the same experience with Lin Xuan Qi.

Meanwhile, as they sat together and chatted, Xiu who was around, quickly shooed off the other servant girls when they got near, letting Lin Xuan Qi and Xue Cong have some quality time on their own.

All of the servant girls nodded their heads at Xiu, covered their mouths when they smiled with shyness and made their way around the main hall.

They also wanted the master and the mistress to have a great time together.

"Master Lin." A guard finally broke the atmosphere when he came running to the main hall.

Xiu had her hands on her hips but couldn’t do much.

It looked urgent and she didn’t want to cause troubles for everyone.

"What’s the matter?" Lin Xuan Qi asked and the guard cupped his hands at him.

"Master Sima Ye is outside requesting for a visit."

"Let him in quickly." Lin Xuan Qi waved his hand at the guard and the guard turned around to head back towards the gate.

"I will get dinner ready." Xue Cong knew they would be discussing business so she excused herself.

It didn’t take long for Sima Ye to come into the main hall with Lee He Song by his side.

Sima Ye cupped his hands at Lin Xuan Qi and said, "So sorry I came late.

"Things were a little bit messy for me to clear within such a short span of time."

"I understand, Master Sima Ye." Lin Xuan Qi stood up and gestured for Sima Ye and Lee He Song to take a seat.

Sima Ye took a seat and Xiu quickly poured him a cup of tea.
