Lee Zhen Ren’s residence.

"What?!" Lee Qing shouted and broke the teacup she had in her hand when she heard the news of the rogue cultivators from her disciple.

The candles flickered making her shadow sway back and forth on the wall, just like the anger simmering inside of her.

"Yes, senior martial sister... Sima Ye and his men killed all the rogue cultivators we had working for us." The disciple lowered his head and bowed at Lee Qing.

Lee Qing waved at him, gesturing for him to leave while she tried to think of something.

Ruo Zhi had just come back from the mountains empty handed and now this.

Things weren’t going too well in their favor.

"Sima Ye..." Lee Qing mumbled to herself while she tried to figure a way to get rid of him.

Sima Ye had been the person from the Sima Family to spoil her plans.

She might have been making the wrong decisions so far.

If only she had gotten rid of him first...

"Senior martial sister, there’s someone outside requesting a visit." One of the disciples came into the room and got her out of her thoughts.

Lee Qing frowned and asked, "Who is it?"

The disciple shook her head and replied, "The man looks like a rogue cultivator to me."

"Let him in." She said and slumped in her chair, not having high hopes for the rogue cultivator.

It didn’t take long and the rogue cultivator arrived in her room.

He was a middle-aged looking man, with a scar running down from his eyebrow to his cheek.

The man dressed in a gray robe brushed his long flowing black hair and cupped his hands at Lee Qing.

"I’m here to help investigate the evil wrongdoings of the Sima Family and get the reward for doing so."

Lee Qing liked the righteous excuse he cooked up and she glanced at the man from head to toe.

But after she did so, she didn’t have much of an interest afterwards.

She sensed that he was only at Qi Concentration Level and thought that he wouldn’t be able to help much.

"You are pretty late for it." Lee Qing said and gave out a long sigh.

There weren’t any rogue cultivators to work with him now that they had been killed by Sima Ye.

He wouldn’t be able to achieve much if he worked alone.

Even if she asked him to get rid of Sima Ye, he wasn’t powerful enough to do so.

But the man was insistent and said, "I’m confident enough to accomplish whatever task you want."

Lee Qing nearly burst out laughing but she kept it in.

She had seen her fair share of cultivators who thought they were that special one and the man in front of her was no exception.

"Fine. Help me get rid of Sima Ye and you shall be rewarded handsomely." Lee Qing didn’t have the patience to deal with the man anymore.

The man gave her an eerie smile and bowed at her.

"I shall not disappoint the Six Pulse Sword Sect."

He turned around and left the room afterwards.

Lee Qing felt something amiss with what he said but she couldn’t pinpoint what it was.

She shook her head and brushed it off as the man being overconfident.

Sima Ye was at the peak of the Foundation Establishment Level and on top of that, he had all sorts of artifacts from the Sima Family with him to deal with every situation.

She saw no way for the man to be able to deal with Sima Ye.

After the man got out of Lee Zhen Ren’s residence and headed to an inn, a familiar voice sounded from the darkness.

"Hehehe, my lord, you could have asked me to do it for you..."

The man shook his head and said, "No need. I have some old scores to settle with the Sima Family and the Qing Feng Sect."

"Yes, my lord..."

After the man took a few steps, he suddenly stopped and thought for a moment before he gave Eunuch Xin his instruction.

"Eunuch Xin, continue your investigation on who killed Yuan Kai."

It had been some time but the Dark Lord wanted to get to the bottom of it.

If Yuan Kai had worked with Zhan Lao against Lee Zhen Ren, things would have been so different now.

And the Dark Lord wanted revenge for it.

With much of his powers back with him, it wouldn’t be much of an issue to kill whoever it was easily. The Dark Lord thought.

Eunuch Xin frowned at the difficult task assigned to him but he had no other options.

"Yes, my lord. I shall work with Lee Yi Hong to find out." He said and disappeared into the dark.

Eunuch Xin had no lead and he could only think of asking for help from Lee Yi Hong.

The Dark Lord nodded his head at Eunuch Xin silently and continued his walk in the empty streets and glanced at the surroundings.

A sense of melancholy came over him, reminding him of the times he had when he was going around begging to become a cultivator.

It made him feel like a mortal again.

The Dark Lord’s footsteps echoed in the distance until he could not be seen from Lee Zhen Ren’s residence.

A cold autumn breeze blew in the still of the night and made the fallen leaves rustle.

The Governor was going through the stack of documents on his table when he sensed someone approaching.

He narrowed his eyes, clenched his fist and lifted his head.

"Hmph. Long time no see." When he saw that it was Eunuch Xin he relaxed his fist.

"Hehehe. I see that you are busy." Eunuch Xin pointed at the stack of documents and said, "I’m sure that his majesty would be pleased to have such a hardworking imperial official working for him."

"I work for the Dark Lord and for what he wants to achieve." The Governor gave Eunuch Xin a stare and said.

"Hehehe, I was only joking..." Eunuch Xin quickly stopped him before Lee Yi Hong went on his rant about how unjust the heavens were.

He knew what Lee Yi Hong was like and he didn’t want him to start.

"That’s why I’m here. The Dark Lord wants me to figure out who killed Yuan Kai and you were one of the last to have seen him." Eunuch Xin said and the Governor leaned back onto his seat.
