I feel you. I'm not American, but I've read other novel that have this propaganda too and it sure turn me off. I still enjoy the story regardless but that country part really unnecessary. They can just put country X or country M at least so I don't feel that uncomfortable. It makes me think what other country think of my country. It left bitter taste. I'm not hating the story though. Just the propaganda part.
I really wish authors left out anti country propaganda. No country is perfect. I understand that people love their country, but people read stories to get away from the reality of their lives and not to be immersed in country bashing regardless of how subtle or blatant it is. I don't think I will finish reading this story, which is a pitty as most part of the story is really good. I just can't stomach the covert hate of a country I love.
