Chapter 48: 048 | Are you Perhaps...a Masochist?

’I had thought about that but now its confirmed, the more I am exposed to different stimulants, the stronger I will become.’ Reyansh clenched his fist as he finalized a way to increase his strength beside the core rank.

The chat was silent which gave him a moment to breath and let his body recover from the residual effects of poison. He checked the time, it had been 5 hour and 20 minutes since he started this speed run.

’Three more dungeons, one hundred sixty minutes more. I have to speed up.’ He decided.

As he felt his body adjusting to the poison, he mentally clicked on the new Trait Spark to look at the information.

A panel manifested with further information, it read:

[Type: Trait Spark]

[Description: The body develops a minor resistance to harmful toxins and foreign contamination.]

[Effects:]

1. Slight resistance to weak poison and venoms, reduced effects from toxins.

2. Faster toxin breakdown within body and minor improvement to biological stability.

’Hmm...simple and easy enough for a Trait spark.’ He noted.

He checked the viewer count before addressing the stream.

[Viewers: 697]

’Almost near the 1000 viewer mark.’

Taking a deep breath, he spoke, "Thank you guys for allowing me a moment of rest and I appreciate all your donations."

"A special thanks to all viewers for staying till now, we have only three more dungeons to go."

[Raisena_Forge: Oh yeah, it has been more than 5 hours, I am just noticing it now. Damn.]

[Ellise: Well, he never let moments stay dull, so I don’t feel bored watching him.]

[Ramon_Night: It certainly is entertaining to watch him go through all this to make himself strong. You have tenacity of a vampire.]

[Daoist_kun: Look at the vampire, already planting seeds to try and convert him into a vampire.]

[Dread Fist: I believe he has the fighting spirit of a Titan, so it would be more suitable to consider him a Titan.]

Reyansh stayed silent and just watched the chat with interest while smiling internally.

"I am not converting into any other race, with due respect to other races, I feel okay being human." He responded before things escalate any further.

[Cat_Empress: You could become cute cat with your cute mask, Nya!]

"Thanks for the offer, Cat_Empress," he replied.

Before the chat could proceed further, the cab did its signature screeching stop.

"We are at Thunderhoof Plains, a full minute early." Driver stated.

"Thanks, keep the engine running, I will be back shortly." Reyansh replied as he exited the cab.

After going through clearance and getting the warning about renewing his ID card, again, he stood in front of the gate.

The gate had etchings of horned sheep and bison, signifying the type of monsters inhabiting the gate.

He glanced at the gate and stepped forward, ’No time to admire.’

The next moment, Reyansh found himself in a wide open grassland with a whiff of fresh air.

[Daoist_kun: Wow, great, no poison or lava to threaten unnecessarily.]

[Fiery_Redina: True, good to have a change of scenery.]

However, suddenly as Reyansh took his first step forward. Out of nowhere, a bolt of lightning struck the ground, just steps away from him.

[Daoist_kun: What the...?!!]

[Raisena_Forge: Bro! Are you perhaps...a Masochist?]

[Ellise: Haha...how can this be any simple than others? Well, keep going anyway.]

Reyansh remained silent as two double headed hammer manifested in both of his hands.

[Dread Fist: Hammer again?]

"Well, for speed and destruction. I am cutting it close to the deadline I set for myself." Reyansh responded as he ran straight ahead while cloud thundered above.

He had only ran for few meters when a group of 7 monsters, Shock Rams, appeared running towards him. They had small curved horns sparkling with yellow lightning as they charged.

Reyansh also sped further in response, when the group and Reyansh was about to collide. He jumped and crashed into the middle of the group with a thunderous strike, scattering the group.

He didn’t let the group gain any momentum and swung both his hammer, eliminating two Shock Rams simultaneously.

The remaining five charged at him again with their horns aiming to electrocute him. He jumped again, striking one hammer down at head of one monster.

He used the hammer’s chain extension as before to aim at a monster further away. The remaining three showed a bit hesitation but Reyansh didn’t and proceeded to eliminate all three monsters in three swings.

Without wasting a second, he stored the bodies and ran further. While running towards center, he eliminated more groups of Shock Rams.

After sprinting for few minutes, he ran into a group of 15 Shock Rams. He gripped the handles of hammer tight and ran towards the group with confidence.

From thereon, what followed was dance of rhythmic destruction from Reyansh’s hammer. His every swing was filled with strength yet elegance of serene flow.

Each swing either broke the head open of a monster or turned their body part into a pulp. It took only 30 seconds for him to eliminate the entire group, he continued his journey forward.

[Anonimus_Assassin: Damn! I mean, just Damn!]

[Dread Fist: Great flow, I don’t know how much you practiced to reach this level of synchronization. But it was brilliant.]

[Dread Fist has donated you 1000 Cosmic coins.]

Reyansh just glanced at the message and kept sprinting forward. After running for few minutes, he entered the region of elite monsters, Stormhorn Bison.

The lightning fall also intensified, Reyansh focused on his Heightened sense to try and stay as far away as possible from lightning attacks.

’Some other time, I would have like to absorb this lightning but I simply don’t have the time.’

While running, he noticed three Stormhorn Bison. They were bigger than the Rams with their horns containing blue sparks of lightning.

He merged both his hammer, increasing length and size of the hammer with a pointed side. Just as the group neared him, he extended the handle of his hammer and swung horizontally, smashing into the head of bison, cracking it open.

[Raisena_Forge: Rampage, just not by Bison but by a hammer wielding hunter.]

[Fiery_Redina: Keep up, you are doing well within the required time.]

The remaining two monsters were also disoriented by Reyansh’s attack. Without wasting a beat, he brought his hammer downward with full strength, striking spine of the monster, breaking it completely and killing the monster in process.

The last monster become too frightened to move, Reyansh approached it with speed, swinging his hammer upward, dislodging his head from the body.

As he moved forward, he encountered another group with 5 Bison. However, just as he charged at them, his hairs stood up as his perception started ringing and his instincts warning him of danger.

He instinctively reacted and raised his hammer above his head when a thick bolt of lightning struck the hammer, prompting him to face the full brunt of the lightning. The Bison’s group stopped in their tracks.

[Raisena_Forge: Shit! that is going to hurt.]

Reyansh gritted his teeth as the lightning passed through his body.

Despite the hammer facing the direct attack the intensity of lightning was enough to turn the grass around Reyansh into charred black.

He felt his entire body on fire, but it wasn’t the feel of burning rather an advanced state of excitement. He gripped the handle of the hammer tight, not letting it slip.

As his body adjusted itself to the lightning attack, a panel manifested in front of him.

[The Electrical Resistance of your body has increased.]

’Not a Trait spark yet,’ he noted as he read the notification, ’Well, if one lightning strike won’t do, maybe one or two more will.’

The chat was silent again, waiting for the result of this unexpected attack.

"Well, there’s a saying that, what doesn’t kill you, only makes you stronger," Reyansh stated with a grin.

[Dread Fist: Hahaha...what did I say? This human has a fighting spirit of a freaking Titan.]
