Chapter 264: Mad Dog
At that same moment, the Second and Grand Elders also learned what had happened. After hearing his subordinate’s report, the Second Elder gave a faint smile. "Don’t get involved. Knowing the Third Elder’s personality, the Grand Elder is in for it. We’ll just watch from the sidelines."
The crafty Second Elder immediately recognized it as a scheme to sow discord. He knew the Grand Elder couldn’t possibly afford to offend a mad dog like the Third Elder at a time like this.
Likewise, upon hearing the news, the Grand Elder’s thoughts immediately turned to Lin Yun. ’This has to be Lin Yun’s doing!’
"Damn it, that little bastard," the Grand Elder couldn’t help but curse.
Just as the Grand Elder finished speaking, an expert from his faction rushed in, panic-stricken. "Grand Elder, this is bad! The Third Elder has gone mad! He’s already injured many of our disciples and is vowing to fight you to the death."
Hearing this, the Grand Elder’s brow furrowed as he cursed inwardly, ’That mad dog... he’s a complete idiot. Can’t he see through such an obvious scheme?’
With that, the Grand Elder strode out of the room. The Third Elder was on a rampage, and ordinary Elders stood no chance against him. As the Third Elder was at the Ninth Layer of the Primordial Ocean Realm, only the Grand Elder himself could hope to match him.
Arriving swiftly at the plaza, the Grand Elder saw that the Third Elder was like a God of Slaughter incarnate. He had already injured over twenty of the Grand Elder’s disciples, and four or five of them had been killed on the spot.
Having rushed over, the sight of his disciples being injured and killed made the Grand Elder’s face darken. The Third Elder had absolutely no respect for him, daring to kill disciples from his own faction in front of so many witnesses.
If he, the Grand Elder, were to back down now, wouldn’t his followers lose heart? Left with no way to save face, the Grand Elder’s expression turned icy. Yet, before he could speak, the Third Elder roared, his face a mask of murderous intent.
"You old bastard! I was kind enough to let your men search, and you dare to kill my disciple?! Fine! Today, I’m going to see if an old bastard like you can take me down!"
The Third Elder was already boiling with rage. The Grand Elder’s expression soured further. ’That mad dog... I haven’t even said a word, and he’s already screaming at me.’
"Mad dog! I didn’t do this! Use that pig brain of yours and think about it...!" the Grand Elder roared.
But before he could finish, the Third Elder cut him off. "Cut the crap, you old bastard! Stop trying to fool me! Today, I’m fighting you to the death! It’s either you or me!"
With that, the Third Elder charged the Grand Elder. The fluctuations of his Elemental Power, at the Ninth Layer of the Primordial Ocean Realm, surged outwards. The terrifying pressure sent many disciples from the Grand Elder’s faction stumbling to the ground.
"Mad dog! You think I’m afraid of you?" The Third Elder refused to listen to any explanation. The Grand Elder was enraged as well, and an aura of Elemental Power no weaker than the Third Elder’s erupted from him.
The auras of two Ninth Layer of Primordial Ocean Realm experts... just the pressure alone was more than many Qi Sea Realm disciples could handle.
Under the protection of the experts from the Grand Elder’s faction, the Qi Sea Realm disciples on the plaza quickly retreated. If they stayed any longer, even the aftershocks of the battle would be enough to kill them.
The great battle between the Grand Elder and the Third Elder... even in Wind Forest City, one could feel the terrifying Elemental Power coming from Wind Forest Mountain.
Standing on the roof of a house, Lin Yun gazed toward Wind Forest Mountain, a wicked smile playing on his lips. ’So, they’ve started fighting.’
In terms of strength and Cultivation, the Grand Elder was slightly stronger than the Third Elder. Though both were at the Ninth Layer of the Primordial Ocean Realm, the Grand Elder had reached the very Limit of that stage, making him one of its most outstanding experts.
But facing a stronger opponent, the Third Elder had his own advantage: he fought without any regard for his own life.
True to his nature, the Third Elder fought like a complete mad dog—all-out attack, relentlessly sinking his teeth into his opponent.
The two battled, and in just a few seconds, the entire plaza was utterly destroyed. They then both flew into the sky. If they continued to fight on the ground, the entire Wind Forest Sect might be torn apart by them, unless the Sect Protection Array was activated.
The two clashed head-on, each retreating several dozen meters. Standing in mid-air, the Grand Elder roared, "Mad dog, have you had your fill of madness? I didn’t do this!"
"Pah! You old bastard! I won’t rest until we settle this with life and death today!" the Third Elder retorted, then charged at the Grand Elder once more.
Both unleashed their full power. The Third Elder was fighting like a man possessed, and the Grand Elder knew he couldn’t hold back without being overwhelmed.
Forced into a corner, the Grand Elder had no choice but to fight back with all he had. However, their objectives were completely different, and so were their fighting styles.
The Third Elder was attacking with suicidal fervor, while the Grand Elder remained purely on the defensive. He knew that an all-out war with the Third Elder’s faction would only play into the Second Elder’s hands, and he wasn’t about to do something so foolish.
The fierce battle raged on, but the Third Elder’s assault showed no signs of weakening; his murderous intent was as palpable as ever. The Grand Elder inwardly lamented his situation. ’If only I could just let loose and fight for real...’
But he couldn’t. Forced to remain on the defensive, he felt incredibly stifled.
After forcefully blocking another of the Third Elder’s attacks, the Grand Elder pulled back. His gaze shifted away from his opponent and toward the area where the Second Elder was hidden.
"Are you just going to watch the show forever?!" he bellowed.
The Second Elder, who had been hiding in the shadows, heard the Grand Elder’s shout and smiled faintly. He then flew through the air, quickly arriving between the Grand Elder and the Third Elder.
Looking at the two of them, the Second Elder had a smile on his face. "I say, you two, I’ve heard a little about this matter. There must be a hidden reason for all this. Why don’t we sit down and talk it over properly?"
"Cut the crap! If I don’t get an explanation today, I’ll fight to the death to get justice!" the Third Elder roared.
"You mad dog, do you really think I’m afraid of you? I already told you, I didn’t do it!" the Grand Elder retorted angrily.
"Good! That suits me just fine! Let’s see which of us lives or dies today!" Hearing this, the Third Elder postured to attack again, only to be blocked by the Second Elder.
"Calm down first. Let’s sit and talk. No matter what, we are all people of the Wind Forest Sect. We can’t fall for an outsider’s treacherous plot," the Second Elder urged.
Under the Second Elder’s constant persuasion, the Third Elder finally calmed down a bit. He realized that if he continued to act so willfully, he would likely provoke the Grand Elder and Second Elder into joining forces against him.
The Third Elder understood such a simple and straightforward principle.
"Fine. I’ll listen to your explanation. But if it doesn’t satisfy me, I swear I won’t let this matter rest," the Third Elder snorted coldly.
Hearing this, the Grand Elder also let out a cold snort.
Having reached a consensus, the three of them headed for the Wind Forest Sect’s Main Hall at the summit. As for the wreckage in the plaza, there were naturally people below to clean it up.
The fluctuations of Elemental Power from Wind Forest Mountain died down. Lin Yun, who had been watching intently, sighed. ’Is it over already? Looks like I’ll have to add a little more fuel to the fire.’
