Chapter 111: Betrayal

Aselia’s POV

Walking to his room felt like walking toward my execution. Every step seemed like trudging on a path ladden with thorns, which ruptured my heart and pierced my soul. For what I was about to do will have repercussions beyond my imagination.

He will never forgive me and there was no coming back from this. My body and heart screamed at me but my mind was adamant to get this over with. He had lost his trust in my eyes and all I wanted was revenge.

We reached the upper level of the hotel and made our way to his room. The night had fallen outside and I knew my extraction team was nearby.

Reaching the black door of his white room, Frila knocked.

"Enter," his voice thundered from inside. Still angry at me, I guessed.

"Frila you can leave, I will take it from here. I need some alone time with him." She nodded at me. I specifically said that so she won’t come upstairs to check any time soon.

After she left, I turned the doorknob and opened the door with a creak. The light was dim and the atmosphere inside seemed tense. Entering the room I found him standing by the gigantic window, his back facing me.

He was clad in a crisp white shirt and black pants. His long hair flowed behind him like luscious silvery snakes, wriggling their way to his legs. I could see his sleeves rolled up to his elbows revealing those robust arms.

His right hand held a wine glass and he sipped the red liquor from it which was not wine. While, his left hand was in his pants pocket. The energy to move seemed to have been drained from my body as I gawked at his back. My body ached to get closer and wrap my arms around him.

"You want something or just here to bore a hole in my back." His agitated voice brought me back to reality. I didn’t speak and just strode towards him, needing to get closer.

Reaching and standing behind him, I placed my quivering hand on his back. His warmth filled me, sending tingles all over my body.

He glanced over his shoulder, his expression severe, our eyes met for a second. Before he averted his gaze back to the window, continuing to observe his city, prevailing in peace for now and I was about to rip him away from it.

I knew I had to make my move while he was facing away from me and yet my hands were trembling at the mere thought of hurting him. My heart and body knew and believed something which my brain and I didn’t. They believed he wouldn’t harm me, well we were about to find out.

"So you want to touch me now? I thought you didn’t trust me anymore." His words held the hidden pain he must have experienced at my actions the other day. A part of me wanted to hug him and ease the agony he held in his heart, but fighting it I held my ground. I had come so close, I couldn’t give in now.

"I am sorry but I don’t," his body stiffened under my touch at the words I spoke. I guessed he would look back at me again but he didn’t spare me another glance and kept staring outside. This was my chance.

My palms were so sweaty from nervousness that I couldn’t take the vial out and it slipped so I tucked it back in. My heartbeat had suddenly gone crazy, no matter how much I tried to reel it in, the heart refused to listen surely on his side, trying to inform him of my secret plans.

He didn’t move or say anything, although I knew he could hear my rising heartbeat. I was losing time, so I finally pulled the vial out which had a long needle attached to it. I hid it in my right hand and took a step back before plunging the vial into his back and emptying the contents.

He hissed at my action and his body turned to face me, a look of betrayal flashed on his gorgeous face as his grey orbs became hazy and he staggered backward, slamming against the glass window. The glass dropped from his hand and shattered, spattering the red liquid on his pants and floor.

I stood there expressionless, my heart going wild in my chest, dying to reach him as he blinked multiple times, trying to stay awake.

"Aselia...what have...you done...." his hand reached out to me but I was rooted to the spot, motionless, letting his hand drop as he fell to the floor. His eyes flickered to mine while his held questions, mine held animosity.

I knew he was paralyzed and soon will become unconscious, it was taking a lot more time for him to lose consciousness compared to normal vampires. He was strong.

"Why?" He whispered, his breath had become raspy and I knew he couldn’t breathe properly, his expression tortured for he understood I had deceived him. I bent low so my face was levelled with his. The desire to touch him erupted in every fiber of my body and yet I fought it.

"You will soon find out." He gawked at me imprudently, trying to keep his eyes open, unable to comprehend what was happening and why it was happening.

His eyes finally closed and his body went limp as his head rolled to his left side. A few locks of his hair fell over his face. With a trembling hand, I stepped closer to him and extended my hand to brush away the stray hair from his face.

Suddenly his hand moved and clutched mine and yanked me closer. I looked on in horror as my body jerked and collided with his and I fell in his lap. He was still conscious but barely as his eyes half opened. My heart went berserk as I knew I had fallen right into the lion’s den and he could just snap my neck with one hand. Instead, he murmured:

"Are you going to kill me?"And I shook my head at him. "No matter what you will do, I won’t stop loving you." His lips perked up in a half smile as his fingers grazed my cheeks and flopped to the ground. His mesmerizing grey eyes closed once again and this time he didn’t open them again.

His words had shaken me and I was immobilized in his lap. Placing my head on his chest I tried to stifle the screams that wanted to escape me. There was a feeling of uneasiness growing in my belly as if I was committing a heinous sin.

My heart screamed for I had betrayed its counterpart and pained him. My body refused to move for I had hurt its counterpart, too. ’What have you done?’ my heart questioned me and yet I knew I had to do it.

I took a few minutes to compose and drag myself away from him for seeing what I had done was killing me. Standing up again I distanced my body from his and turning away I took out the device from my pocket and contacted Yurian.

The transmission connected instantly and Yurian informed me they were on the roof of the hotel, waiting for me. I knew I had no time to waste, searching his pocket I grabbed his phone and threw it on the ground, stamping on it so it would break. I didn’t want anyone tracking us.

Then I made my way to the door, opening it I groggily peeked outside. This whole floor belonged to Xiran and no one was allowed here, so it was empty. I rushed to the stairs that led to the roof. My heart pounded as adrenaline coursed through my body. I was so near to my freedom again. Reaching the stairs I climbed them two at a time and reached the door of the roof. It was locked, I took out a bobby pin from my hair and picked it in a few attempts.

Opening the door I rushed out on the roof and found Yurain waiting for me with one of our other Agents. He smiled, his eyes lighting up as I ran and flung myself in his arms. My heart felt so heavy with emotions as if they were stifling me, making it difficult for me to speak.

"I got you," he whispered. "Is everything alright? Anyone chasing you?" I shook my head vehemently.

"Good to have you back. We are ready whenever you are White Falcon," Agent 27 spoke, holding the rappelling ropes I had instructed them to bring.

"He is in his room, I will show you the way." I pointed toward the stairs, words coming out raspy.

"I will set up the rope, you guys bring him up." Agent 27 suggested and we nodded before descending the stairs. Yurian followed me.

Once we were out of the earshot of Agent 27, Yurain asked: "Are you sure you are alright? Something seems wrong, did he hurt you?" His question made me halt and turn to him.
