Endless Debt
Chapter 1218 - 47: Scar_2
When Bologue wounded the Regent King, with the Regent King’s strength, he had already rendered himself powerless. Bologue didn’t want to give up so early; at least, before using every means available, he wouldn’t choose a desperate strike.
"Just an empty shell."
As he charged, Bologue glanced sideways at the magnificent city. It was colorful yet lifeless.
Looking forward, Bologue dived into the mist, with the Regent King closely following behind.
The Cultivation Room was incredibly tall, reaching into the clouds and piercing through them.
Bologue could clearly feel the air around him gradually thinning, and the low temperature invading. At the same time, the pure night sky also came into view, with stars twinkling.
Everything below became insignificant, and an inexplicable emotion surged within Bologue, as if he had already shed his human shell and merged into the universe. This feeling was subtle... if only the man rushing towards him weren’t there.
"Damn it!"
At times like this, even Bologue couldn’t help but curse. He quickened his pace, with the top of the Cultivation Room almost within reach.
Faced with the current predicament, Bologue unexpectedly felt a strange sense of familiarity. If the Regent King were to suddenly say he was a fan, Bologue wouldn’t be surprised.
No time to think of anything else. Ether poured into the Vengeful Bite, the excessive amount of ether gathering, gradually becoming substantial, bursting with dazzling electricity.
Due to the difference in tier, Bologue couldn’t invade the Rectangular Soul Critical of the Regent King, let alone detonate the Regent King’s ether from within. Commanding external material to attack the Regent King was clearly not feasible, as that bizarre Shadow Blade was enough to shatter everything.
As for a desperate strike?
Not to mention the Seeker of Glory’s body had long been highly etherealized, it would be very difficult for Bologue to kill the Regent King with one blow, especially since the Regent King is a pure-blood Night Race, essentially an Undead.
Bologue’s only chance of victory was, as the Regent King mentioned, to drag it out until dawn.
The condition sounds simple, but it’s hard to achieve. Given the difference in the amount of ether between Bologue and the Regent King, Bologue simply couldn’t withstand such high-intensity consumption.
He would eventually be exhausted to death.
This wasn’t a duel at all, but a hunting game the Regent King used for entertainment. Bologue didn’t want to let the Regent King have so much fun.
Reaching the top of the Cultivation Room, the silhouette of the Observation Tower came into view, but just like the outside, it was nothing more than a deceptive shell. Bologue had no intention of stopping, directly commanding the material underfoot to rise, piling up the tower, transforming it into a spear piercing the sky.
The Regent King stopped his footsteps, looking up at Bologue. Even after reaching the highest point, he continued to ascend. The Regent King guessed what Bologue intended to do.
The Regent King had the time and ability to stop Bologue, but he didn’t. He simply stood and watched, eyes filled with anticipation.
Bologue’s position grew higher and higher, the Cultivation Room below becoming nothing more than a black dot.
Even the Seeker of Glory wasn’t omnipotent. The Mirror World had its limits, and as long as Bologue could find a way to reach these limits and break through the constraints of Secret Energy, that would suffice.
Others might not be able to do it, but Bologue could. From the moment he began researching the micro-manipulation of ether, he realized how significant the divergence was between his path of Infinite Sharpness and Overlord Xilin.
If Overlord Xilin’s power was infinitely broad and blunt, capable of easily moving mountains and filling seas, Bologue’s power targeted the microscopic level, modifying the Alchemy Matrix, and overwriting ether.
"Take a gamble..."
Bologue muttered under his breath. A vast amount of ether gathered on Vengeful Bite, the substantial ether nearly twisting the blade, giving it a splendid luminescent glow. The tangible space exhibited a certain distorted feel, as if Bologue was wielding not a simple sword blade but a fragment of space.
The brilliance of ether burned fervently in Bologue’s eyes, unleashing his full power without reservation.
Secret Energy·Commanding Decree!
In an instant, the ether gathered on Vengeful Bite burst forth, like venomous insects snaking around, devouring the opposing ether overflowing into the surrounding space.
Ether from the Regent King, which constructed this Mirror World.
The two forces collided, yet strangely, Bologue’s power didn’t crumble against the Seeker of Glory’s might. Instead, they pierced, like slender steel needles, into the weak seams of the Mirror World, embedding deeper.
This was the highest point Bologue could reach. If the Mirror World had a limit, then Bologue was already at its edge. This would also be the weakest point of the Mirror World.
Bologue intended to break free from the Regent King’s Secret Energy, tearing a rift at this weak edge to open a path between the Mirror World and the material world.
For this, a scorching white arc appeared on the edge of the Vengeful Bite’s black blade. It was a phenomenon of fierce clashing of two ethers. Bologue felt his sword-wielding wrist sink, as if burdened with a thousand pounds.
At this moment, the Vengeful Bite seemed to cut nothing, but in reality, it was slicing through the space of the Mirror World, attempting to shake the entire world.
"If you like to play so much, then I’ll play with you to the fullest!"
Bologue roared, the Alchemy Matrix’s patterns spread from his arm to Vengeful Bite, then from the blade’s edge to the surrounding Mirror Space.
Countless patterns filled Bologue’s surroundings. Using Infinite Sharpness and the aggressive nature of Secret Energy, he briefly seized and plundered the edge of the weak area of the Mirror World.
The Regent King could clearly feel a zone out of control within his domain. The chaotic time was brief, only a few seconds, yet it was enough for Bologue to deliver that lethal strike.
A dazzling bolt of lightning was unleashed, thunder echoing across the night sky.
Bologue panted heavily, an overwhelming fatigue attacking his mind. He almost collapsed instantly but managed to maintain his stance, watching the lightning he unleashed.
Lightning typically vanished in an instant, yet this bolt froze in the night sky, like a terrifying scar. The edges of the scar were lined with luminous cracks, as if the entire firmament was nothing more than a giant glass dome. The crackling sound continued as cracks spread, until Bologue swung his sword again, the cross-shaped sword mark tearing open the false world.
The Regent King heard the rumbling crack.
The Mirror World collapsed, revealing a broken corner. Bologue once again witnessed the phenomenon of color inversion, ripples sweeping over his body. After that, the scene Bologue saw changed.
The damage he caused to the Cultivation Room vanished, destroyed districts returned to their original state, and faint noises from the city reached his ears. A smile emerged on Bologue’s face, as he had broken out of the Mirror World and returned to the material world.
But in the next second, Bologue couldn’t keep smiling.
In mid-air, Bologue lost all supports, beginning a free fall toward the ground. Deceitful Snake Scale Liquid extended from under his arms, merging into a pair of Iron Feathers. Bologue glided over the city skyline, like a giant eagle, with great difficulty.
Burning the ether within his body, the Negative Power User’s ether reaction released unrestrainedly. In Oubos within Oath City, this was more convenient than any signal flare.
The inverted color ripples erupted again, following Bologue’s silhouette, covering him once more.
The drunken youths looked up, noticing the blazing white meteor streaking across the night sky, but suddenly it disappeared. Rubbing their eyes, there was nothing, just an illusion.
Bologue landed on a tall building, gaze heavy as he looked towards the scar in the night sky gradually healing, then at the space cracks covering his body.
He had sliced through the Mirror World, yet hadn’t completely severed it.
The inverted color ripples released from the space cracks, erupting periodically. A few minutes ago, Bologue was in the Mirror World, but the next second, he was released back into the material world, before being dragged into the Mirror World again.
The scene before him kept changing, but the Regent King’s figure stood unwavering, with an annoying smile, as if mocking his futile struggle.
