Endless Extraction in a Game-Like World
Chapter 158: The Might of Sun Wukong’s Gift! Endless Extraction Meets Ore Nodes
[You have obtained the weapon: Sun Wukong’s Staff Fragment (???,???).]
[Sun Wukong’s Staff Fragment: Ruyi Jingu Bang (???,???): A fragment of a real staff that can shrink to the size of a needle or grow as tall as the world. It has the same function as the Ruyi Jingu Bang. It alters its size based on the user’s combat score. It meets the user’s power perfectly, amplifying it by +6 Damage when used.]
"Damn..." Caelus was stupefied.
Sun Wukong’s staff fragment? This completely exceeded his expectations.
He summoned it forth.
Immediately, an iron staff with golden bands and a reddish middle section appeared in front of him.
He didn’t know any staff techniques or even how to properly use it.
But one thing was for sure. This weapon’s damage amplification was vastly higher than his Origin Sword.
It also possessed the power of size manipulation. He could change its size at will.
"What is that weapon, Caelus?" Sylvia asked curiously. "A blessing?"
She was confused. She had received the blessings alongside Caelus, but this time, she didn’t obtain any items.
"This is from Sun Wukong," Caelus said with obvious excitement.
He was actually a Sun Wukong fanboy.
What kid didn’t grow up admiring a guy so powerful that he inspired countless characters in animations and comics?
He was an extremely famous god.
And that god was actually real, took an interest in him, and even gave him a staff!
His day couldn’t possibly get any better.
"What is a Sun Wukong?" Sylvia tilted her head.
"Right." Caelus sighed.
He almost forgot that the Azure Origin planet was not Earth.
There weren’t many things related to the gods here, only specific ones like Zeus and the God of Boundless Light.
"This weapon is a part of his power. Wait, I’ll demonstrate it."
Caelus turned to face a nearby hill.
He shot into the air and looked at the staff in his hand. He raised it up like a sword and struck downward.
He couldn’t be blamed. He didn’t know any staff techniques, nor was it like a sword where you just hack and slash.
"Get bigger, Ruyi."
BOOM!
The red and golden staff in his hand trembled as boundless might erupted from it.
The next moment, the sky darkened.
The other end of the staff expanded endlessly, completely crushing the hill the instant it made contact.
"???" Sylvia wore a completely stunned look.
A weapon that could expand in size?
And it expanded to the size of an entire hill!
"This is but a small fraction of that god’s power," Caelus said as he landed next to Sylvia.
"It isn’t even close to his true limit. I can enlarge its size a bit more, but that god can expand it to the size of an entire world."
"He is the Victorious Fighting Buddha, Sun Wukong," Caelus explained in some excitement.
"The way you are so excited... do you like him, Caelus?"
Sylvia’s expression suddenly turned frighteningly delightful.
Her hollow eyes and thin polite smile were back. If someone handed her a kitchen knife right now, the look would be complete.
"I do," Caelus nodded. "I admire him a lot."
"Does that mean... you don’t like me?" A dramatic look of sadness washed over Sylvia’s face.
"Is some random god more likable to you? You don’t show this same excitement when you are with me..."
Caelus almost choked on his own saliva.
What the hell? How did things suddenly escalate to this?
"I-I will kill this god, so you can admire me more," Sylvia said with a slight stutter.
"You don’t need to look at anyone else. Only me."
"Calm down." Caelus stepped forward worriedly and began patting Sylvia’s head.
Usually, this was enough to uplift her mood.
But kill Sun Wukong? Caelus’s lips twitched violently.
He was beyond the concept of immortality itself. Even immortals feared him.
How was his obsessive girlfriend ever going to do anything to him?
"It’s like having an idol. Someone to look up to when you grow up. This isn’t wrong, Sylvia," Caelus replied with a heavy sigh.
"But I only look up to you..."
’What the hell.’ Caelus was even more stupefied.
Right. He almost forgot that his girlfriend was obsessed with him and only him.
"Fine. I won’t admire him anymore," Caelus lied smoothly as he hugged Sylvia. "Only my cute girlfriend, Sylvia."
"Hehe~" A small, pleasant hum came from Sylvia.
Satisfied with his answer, she began peppering him with kisses.
Caelus sighed inwardly. He was too tired to give her a long lecture about how having an idol was perfectly normal.
Lying was the only safe choice. Sylvia always went to the extreme whenever the concepts of liking or admiring came up.
Her nature was not something he could change easily. This was simply the best solution.
"Anyways. Wanna go back to the Land of Snow and mine some ores? There is an hour left until the domain closes," Caelus suggested.
Sylvia readily nodded. Soon after, they departed.
Today had been incredibly eventful.
Meeting gods, getting skills that had no rarity or star ratings, and watching the Origin Network descend just to protect him.
It was quite shocking, to say the least.
He had also seen some things related to the old Ender.
He didn’t know why all these things happened today, but he would surely understand it in the coming days.
For now, he just needed to steadily get stronger.
Soon, they reached the icy cave.
Coincidentally, he saw several new extraction options popping up now that he had reached the Silver rank.
The prompts meant he could easily extract the ores directly without tools.
But unfortunately...
"What I need is gold ore now," Caelus sighed.
How great would it be to have a talent that could synthesize lower-tier materials into higher-tier ones?
The town had a facility for it, but it couldn’t synthesize even Silver rank items, let alone Gold.
He really needed to work towards upgrading his town starting right now.
But he still had time. The vast majority of players probably hadn’t even reached Tier 2 yet. He was still ahead of the curve.
Still, he wasn’t going to leave empty-handed.
He was going to extract all these ores, sell them to trading companies, and then buy gold ores directly from the market.
He walked toward a Tier 7 ore node and extracted it.
[Ding! You have obtained: Tier 7 Mana Ore.]
[You mined at a mythical-grade precision!]
[You have obtained +1,000 Profession EXP.]
[Ding! The Profession EXP received exceeds the maximum of Tier 1.]
[Converting it into lower EXP...]
[Ding! Your miner profession has reached Tier 3: Silver I.]
"Oh?" Caelus was pleasantly surprised.
Seeing the notifications roll in, he grew excited. This could actually work?
This was much better than he initially thought.
He immediately began extracting all the ores in the area, quickly pushing his profession EXP until he reached the Silver I cap.
"Hey Origin Network, is there a way to, um, go beyond the rank cap? I’m sick and tired of this!" Caelus exclaimed loudly.
Of course, no reply came.
Perhaps the Origin Network, which had just protected him like a damsel in distress, simply didn’t care enough about trivial mining caps...
[Ding!]
[Six hours have passed.]
[You will be returning to reality.]
