Yang Chan watched the last Inner Master fall dead and let out a long sigh of relief.

All the black-clad attackers were dead. To be precise, all the members of the Celestial Sword Sect were dead; not a single one was left. However, this didn’t include the Celestial Sword Sect’s Advanced Pharmacists and other such figures. It was obvious that such important personnel hadn’t been sent on this mission.

After Qi Yuansheng and Ji Feng killed the man in black, they took a Celestial Sword Sect Identity Token from his body. They pulled back his mask to confirm his affiliation. The two exchanged a look; they clearly wanted to use this chance to eliminate the Celestial Sword Sect members, but then they glanced at Yan Jinfeng and the others and decided against acting rashly.

Killing the Celestial Sword Sect’s Advanced Pharmacists would have been satisfying, but protecting Yan Jinfeng was the top priority. If the enemy managed to trade one for one, it would be a devastating loss for the Cyan Yuan Sect.

Besides, the attackers in black weren’t just from the Celestial Sword Sect. Other factions were involved as well. Qi Yuansheng and Ji Feng had already identified these factions and would surely arrange for retaliation later.

"It seems the other sects were attacked too. Otherwise, there’s no way not a single person would have come to help."

Yan Jinfeng stepped forward and said to Ji Feng and Qi Yuansheng.

This alliance might have been unreliable, but for no one to show up at all suggested something else was going on.

Either the disciples sent to request aid were killed, or the sects they sought help from were also under siege. Of course, it couldn’t be ruled out that this was a targeted attack on the Cyan Yuan Sect, but that seemed less likely.

The sects Yan Jinfeng and the others had chosen to ally with were all located far from the Cyan Yuan Sect. There were few conflicts of interest between them, so the chances of them turning on each other were slim.

If the Cyan Yuan Sect were to be destroyed, it wouldn’t be good for these other sects either.

It was a Law among sects to never get too close to your neighbors. Everyone knew what the others were thinking; they were all ambitious wolves, plotting to devour each other. They would even resort to petty tricks to make life difficult for nearby sects. These were common tactics, perfectly normal.

They would only unite if a powerful neighboring Major Sect exerted its influence, but even such alliances were temporary. The relationships were not solid; they would shatter the moment a conflict of interest arose.

In contrast, sects that were farther apart had fewer conflicts of interest, and thus fewer contradictions. It was naturally much easier for them to get along.

This was the principle Yan Jinfeng and the others had followed when choosing their allies.

"Given the current situation in White Jade City, it’s best to play it safe. Perhaps those sects have other plans."

Ji Feng said, not having much faith in such an alliance.

It wasn’t completely useless, but you couldn’t necessarily count on it when it mattered most.

On the other hand, their own sect members had been very reliable. Even Yang Chan, a Pharmacist, had used a Hidden Weapon to help him at a critical moment, allowing him to kill that black-clad Grandmaster and end the battle sooner.

Yang Chan had played a huge role in this.

Thinking of this, he saw Yang Chan being protected in the crowd and gave him a nod.

He then recalled the words of Medicine Hall Master Gu An, who had asked him to look after Yang Chan, and sighed. He hadn’t done much to look after Yang Chan, but Yang Chan had helped him at a crucial time, resolving the situation much faster.

"Should we remain in the Cyan Yuan Pavilion?"

Ji Feng asked, his gaze shifting back to Yan Jinfeng and Qi Yuansheng.

Although the reinforcements mentioned by the men in black hadn’t arrived, there was no confirmation they weren’t coming. Under these circumstances, the Cyan Yuan Pavilion wasn’t necessarily safe.

"We can’t leave the Cyan Yuan Pavilion. Other places aren’t necessarily any safer. Our agents will send word. Once we receive their message, we’ll consider our next steps."

Qi Yuansheng said after a moment of thought.

The entirety of White Jade City was in chaos. They had originally thought the Cyan Yuan Sect wouldn’t be affected, but given the current situation, they couldn’t leave.

Some of the disciples were injured, and even the Elders weren’t in peak condition. After using their Martial Seals, they also needed time to recover.

Trying to travel now would be a bad idea; running into a powerful enemy would be disastrous.

"That’s right. Let’s treat the injured disciples first. Xu Gaocen, Yang Chan, you two Pharmacists help with the treatment. The power burst I just used has side effects, and I need to recover."

Yan Jinfeng said, looking toward Xu Gaocen and Yang Chan to give his orders.

He had just held off that Grandmaster. The Elixir he took was something that granted an instantaneous burst of power, and it put immense strain on his body. Coupled with his advanced age, the strain was even greater. He needed time to recover and was in no condition to travel.

"Yes, Elder Yan."

Yang Chan and Xu Gaocen replied in unison upon hearing the command.

As Pharmacists, this was part of their duty. They had to bandage the wounds of these Cyan Yuan Sect Disciples, as well as a few Honored Guest Elders. These people all served the Cyan Yuan Sect, so they couldn’t let their injuries worsen.

Xu Gaocen found a relatively large room, while Yang Chan brought over all the Healing Medicine they had packed for the trip. The two of them began treating the injured.

They hadn’t brought any Pharmacist’s Assistants with them into White Jade City, so they had to do everything themselves.

However, they had prepared plenty of medicine. Plus, Yang Chan had arranged everything in an orderly fashion, so their treatment process was systematic.

The lightly injured only needed to be bandaged. The more severe cases required more time. Most of the heavily injured were sent to Xu Gaocen, leaving them for the more experienced Intermediate Pharmacist to handle.

Yang Chan saw this and was naturally happy with the arrangement.

Meanwhile, another group of Cyan Yuan Sect Disciples dealt with the bodies inside the Cyan Yuan Pavilion. They finished off any surviving enemies in black and checked on their own fallen disciples. Anyone still breathing was brought back for treatment.

After helping to bandage the lightly injured disciples, Yang Chan went with the others to inspect the scene. With the perception of an Inner Master, whenever he sensed a living enemy, he would "accidentally" step on them, channeling a surge of Power into their body to ensure their death. Or, he would simply have a Cyan Yuan Sect Disciple check on them.

For any Cyan Yuan Sect Disciples who were still breathing, he would help bandage them on the spot to stop the bleeding and then have them sent to Xu Gaocen.

By the time the inspection of the Cyan Yuan Pavilion was complete, the room was filled with prone disciples. Their conditions were not good. Whether they could survive would depend on their will to live.

He and Xu Gaocen could only do their best; the rest was up to fate.

While the two of them were busy, no other factions came looking for trouble, let alone attacking. This allowed Qi Yuansheng, Elder Ji Feng, and the others to breathe a sigh of relief, as the Cyan Yuan Sect was not in good shape.

The two Elders were slowly recovering, but many of the Cyan Yuan Sect disciples were injured. The heavily wounded ones, in particular, would have no chance of escape.

If the worst came to pass, they would have to be abandoned.
