Chapter 81: Ch-81: vs Black Church (2)

Outside the Silvernum Territory, Captain Callum looked at the balls of magma that had fallen on his army coldly.

"Looks like there is some kind of barrier hiding the actual scenario of what’s truly in front of us," Callum mumbled. When he looked forward, there were only token buildings with no sign of people, but that magma attack coming from the Silvernum Territory suggested something else entirely.

"Hmph." Callum snorted as he watched the beasts charge relentlessly.

"Hmm?" Suddenly, he saw the sky darken and squinted his eyes as he felt a hint of danger from the clouds, which made him frown.

"!!!" Suddenly, his pupils contracted, and a chill ran down his spine when he saw three 20-meter-long serpents, seemingly made of black lightning, rushing toward the army.

Bang

Two directly struck the magical beasts that were charging, and around 30% of the beasts were reduced to ashes.

Then the other one charged straight toward the army.

"Quickly activate the defensive items!" Callum barked orders as the army hurriedly reacted. He knew if it struck him, it would seriously injure him.

The lightning serpent directly collided with a shield made of mana, and for a moment it seemed to stop, but—

Crack

"Shit!" Callum cursed when he saw the shield crack as it struck his army. They did not even get a chance to scream as they turned into charred corpses.

Gulp

Some of the soldiers, seeing this, swallowed nervously as they looked at the sky for more attacks. Even Callum looked tensely upward.

"Looks like it was just some kind of one-time-use offensive spell," Callum said, wiping the sweat from his brow as there was no follow-up attack.

-------

"Hmm, let’s wait and not startle them; I have already discovered the assassin among the troops," Victor mumbled as he returned to the edge of the player army.

The heirs looked at him with wide eyes and broke out into an uproar.

"Holy, does anyone recognize him?"

"No, I have never heard of him—what the hell was that black lightning?"

"That’s even more destructive than the magma!"

"Hey, you go and ask him about his identity."

"Why don’t you go? This guy looks very unapproachable."

"Hey, that black lightning—isn’t it the skill of Faceless?" Andrew asked in a low voice.

"You’re right, I did not expect to meet him here," Rachel said with wide eyes, while Olivia narrowed hers at him.

’Doesn’t that NPC Frost Eye also use black lightning... is Faceless related to him somehow, or maybe he got his skill from him?’ Olivia thought as she looked at Faceless at the very end of the crowd.

She did not think for a second that Faceless and Frost Eye could be the same person, as one was a player and the other an NPC. The idea that players could give out quests seemed absurd to her.

"Who the hell is this?" Regal, who had been feeling smug about the destructive power of his Magma bloodline, now wore a dark expression as he looked at that player with narrowed eyes.

’With this strength, there is no way he would be ordinary...’ he thought. Then his eyes widened as something crossed his mind. ’Could this guy be Faceless?’

Regal clenched his fists tightly. If that was the case, becoming the number one player would be difficult with just his bloodline. He looked at the beasts and even the NPCs that had perished under the lightning and wore a heavy expression—the lightning had killed almost triple or more enemies than he had.

"Stop daydreaming and charge at the enemy!" Edward shouted as the players seemed frozen in place. Edward’s words snapped everyone out of their daze, and they looked at the beasts with excitement as they rushed toward them.

Soon, the black tide of monsters clashed with the tide of players.

"Kill them, kill them all!"

"Haha, so many points, I will get the rewards!"

"Damn, this fucker tore my arm off!"

The players started to fight like madmen with no regard for their lives.

Hiss

"Holy, don’t they fear for their lives?" Edward watched as the players, without any regard for their safety, fought with gusto. This was the first time he had seen such a reckless method of fighting.

Then his eyes fell on a few individuals, and he raised an eyebrow. "Well, there seem to be some gems among the cannon fodder."

Olivia looked at the beasts charging toward her, formed an ice bow and arrow, and said in an indifferent tone, "Ice Arrow."

Woosh

As the arrow left her bow and struck the beasts, they directly turned into ice sculptures and shattered. Not only that, but the magical beasts within a range of 50 meters were also frozen solid.

"Ice Chains," Olivia said as ice chains appeared from beneath her feet, which directly shattered the ice sculptures into small crystals.

"Fuck, the pain is so realistic," Ruby cursed in pain as a beast left a deep gash in her shoulder. She then looked toward the source of the chill.

"Tsk." Ruby clicked her tongue when she saw Olivia directly freezing enemies. Then she looked at the magical beasts that had surrounded her. She showed no panic and smirked while holding her injured shoulder. "Can’t let her show off alone, now can I?"

"Multi Devouring Roots."

As soon as those words fell, the ground started trembling slightly as hundreds of roots erupted from beneath and headed toward the beasts surrounding her.

Roar

The beasts tried to cut the roots with their sharp claws, but they dodged and pierced into their bodies.

"Holy..." The players who saw the next scene felt a chill run down their spines and swallowed hard.

The vitality of the beasts rapidly dwindled as they became thinner until they turned into dried husks which lifelessly fell to the ground.

"Thanks for the food," Ruby giggled as she felt herself gain a temporary boost in health; her injuries healed, and the stamina she had lost was also replenished.
