Chapter 84: Ch-84: vs Black Church (5)

"Huff... Huff, I am out of mana," Olivia said while panting, her ample chest rising and falling with every breath as he looked at the surroundings. Her expression darkened when she other’s were running out of mana as well.

"I am also out of mana," Rachel said as she held her injured shoulder, which was bleeding profusely.

"Looks like all the heirs are still... never mind," Olivia paused mid-sentence as she saw Julian and Matthew get pierced by arrows and turn into streaks of light, vanishing from the game, the others were also on the verge of death.

Wehoo Wehooo

"What’s going on?" Olivia frowned when she heard sirens blaring again.

Zoooom

She heard something fly over her head and looked up; her pupils widened immediately as she mumbled, "So many missiles."

"Fuck!" she turned around and saw Rachel curse as she got impaled by a spear and turned into specks of light and vanished.

Before she could react, a notification appeared on Olivia’s retina.

"Hmm," Callum, who was watching as the troops charged toward the Silvernum territory, suddenly looked up as he saw something flying toward them.

"Missiles," Callum scoffed upon seeing this. The troops he had sent were much stronger, equipped with various defensive items. There was no way they would be harmed by missiles which had no magical power in them. Sure, they could be effective against normal troops but his troops were not normal at all.

He maintained a calm demeanor the entire time as he watched the missiles closing in, but when they were only a few meters away from the army, his expression abruptly changed as he felt something off about them.

’Why do I sense such vast magical power in these missiles? And the material they are made of seems to conduct mana.’

He felt as though he was witnessing a fusion of magic and technology, but that should be impossible—many famous blacksmiths had tried and failed.

’Wait, didn’t I hear the new Baron had awakened some kind of Warlock Bloodline?’ He suddenly felt a chill shoot up from his soles, and a bad feeling arose as he quickly shouted, "Quickly stop running and raise your defenses!"

Hearing this, the advancing soldiers suddenly paused, looking at each other, then at their captain, and finally at the missiles.

"It’s just missiles, why is he panicking like this?"

"Stop daydreaming and follow the orders!"

Instantly, the soldiers, though confused, started activating all sorts of defensive items.

The thunder of hundreds of missiles streaking through the sky in unison echoed throughout the battlefield as the soldiers stood tense, hiding behind their equipment.

More than five hundred missiles formed a wall that blocked the sun, moving in perfect unison. Their sharp tips now pointed toward the ground, and one after another, they began to fall at astonishing speeds as the air roared around them.

Boom

Boom

Large explosions erupted as the missiles struck the soldiers, and they started screaming in panic.

"No!"

"The missiles are too powerful!"

"Damn, how can missiles breach our high-quality magical armor and defenses?"

"Am I wrong, or do these feel like magical explosions?"

Instantly, the massive barrage raining down decimated the enemy forces. Even though the soldiers were equipped with defensive items, they stood no chance of defending themselves. These weak pieces of equipment could not protect the men wearing them from the devastating effects of the magic-infused missiles.

They looked at each other, and at least 30% of the army was wiped out, while some still managed to survive with better equipment—but they were heavily injured.

As injured soldiers collapsed to their knees, coughing up blood and fragments of broken organs, the entire scene fell eerily silent, with only the whistling wind breaking the stillness.

Suddenly, they looked up as they felt an ominous presence.

Woosh Woosh

"Damn, more are coming!" the surviving soldiers widened their eyes in horror.

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

More missiles tore through the sky. The speed at which they fell from several hundred meters was terrifying, to the point where the air itself seemed to be sliced apart and forced aside.

BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!

After witnessing the destruction of their army, some soldiers attempted a frenzied charge, but to no avail. Before they could even take a step forward, they were bombarded by missiles. Scenes like this unfolded across the battlefield.

Boom!

Boom!

Boom!

Boom!

The surrounding structures outside the territory were also struck by the missiles. After several explosions, the structures began to crumble. It didn’t matter whether they were houses, trees, or walls towering five or six stories high—once hit, everything was crushed and reduced to heaps of broken rubble.

"Ah!"

"Help!"

"We surrender!"

"Please! Stop!"

The horrific display of the chaotic battlefield was enough to churn one’s stomach.

On one side, the soldiers defending the Silvernum territory were both shocked and elated.

"Haha!"

"Take that, Black Church!"

"We didn’t even need to move, and their army has already been reduced this much!"

Gulp

Callum, witnessing the sheer power of the missiles, swallowed hard and shivered in fear. If he had been hit—

He looked on in horror as his once-glorious army was slaughtered before his very eyes. Never before had he witnessed such an overwhelming defeat.

"Damn it, I can’t let this go on. I must act now." He looked at his remaining army, now barely 30% of its original strength. If he did nothing, even this would be reduced to ashes.

But before he could step forward, the sky darkened instantly, and he felt an immense pressure descending from above as a massive shadow engulfed him.

A 60-meter-long axe made of black lightning was plummeting from the sky at extreme speed, aimed directly at him.

"Fuck!" He had no chance to dodge and hurriedly activated his skills and artifacts to defend himself.
