Sylvan Cheney warmed up breakfast for her and brought it to her.

"I can do it myself." Jasmine Yale stopped him from feeding her and took a slice of cake.

The cake tasted pretty good, and she ate it with relish, perhaps because she was hungry. Her gaze fell on the cake on the plate, with a sparkle in her eyes, deep and calm.

Sylvan Cheney had a notebook on his long legs, unsure of what to say for a moment.

In fact, Jasmine Yale’s expression was much more natural than his.

"When is the housekeeper coming?" she asked casually.

"The housekeeper is on leave today."

"Hmm? Why does your housekeeper always take leave?"

"The housekeeper hasn’t been feeling well these days."

"Oh." Jasmine Yale responded, "Then what about the clothes that need to be changed?"

"Just give them to me."

"..." Jasmine Yale looked up, giving him a skeptical glance, "Can you really do it?"

They had known each other for so many years, and it wasn’t until later that she saw him cook. As for doing laundry, she couldn’t picture it.

"It’s no big deal."

"Oh." Jasmine Yale continued eating breakfast.

"The weather’s bad; it could rain at any time. I forgot to buy you an outfit for going out. Why don’t you just make do here for now?" Sylvan Cheney glanced at her.

Jasmine Yale paused while eating. After the alcohol wore off, Sylvan Cheney wasn’t as rebellious, but still as sly.

He remembered to buy her pajamas but forgot clothes for going out?

"It’s okay, you can lend me a jacket. I’m a pregnant woman, I’m not picky."

"It could rain any time with this weather."

"Then just lend me an umbrella."

"I don’t have one." Sylvan Cheney’s mood soured, his face turning cloudy.

"Then I’ll think of a way." Jasmine Yale said.

"Jasmine Yale!" Sylvan Cheney shouted at her, but when he met her gaze, he swallowed half of what he wanted to say and quietly said, "This kind of weather is more suited for watching a movie at home. I copied a film, watch a movie with me."

"Do you even have time to watch a movie?" She turned her head, holding a milk cup.

"I have time today."

Jasmine Yale couldn’t remember the last time she watched a movie with him, probably back at Cheney Residence.

Cheney Residence had a dedicated screening room, quite large.

Jasmine Yale shifted his laptop over, found a comfortable position, and snuggled into the sofa: "Watching on a computer or what."

Sylvan Cheney probably didn’t expect her to agree so quickly, and swallowed the lines he’d thought up.

"I have a projector, but I respect your choice, let’s watch it this way." Sylvan Cheney placed the laptop on the table opposite them.

The distance from the sofa to the table was just right, not too far or close.

Jasmine Yale was a bit puzzled why it became her choice.

Sylvan Cheney turned on a small lamp, its light hazy yet warm, the sky outside growing gloomier, making the room feel tranquil and peaceful.

Outside, the wind was strong, occasionally sending leaves flying, and they could hear the commotion downstairs from up high.

Sylvan Cheney got up and pulled the curtains shut.

With the curtains closed, the room felt like an undisturbed little world, peaceful and isolated from the world.

Jasmine Yale lounged lazily on the sofa, eating and watching the movie.

It was a newly released foreign romance art film.

Jasmine Yale didn’t expect him to watch such a movie; she hadn’t seen Sylvan Cheney watching romance films before.
