Chapter 208: 208. Don’t be rash

As the sun appeared in the sky marking another day, Jarred who had fully recovered made his way to the car, Hunter followed behind him and they got in.

"To Snow Tow," he said to the driver who

gave a nod and started the engine. "Have you been keeping an eye on the project?" he asked Hunter who gave him a lazy look.

"I told you everything even while you were still on the sick bed, why do you ask this now?" Hunter asked annoyed by the question. Why should he repeat the same words that he had said before over again?

"Alright," Jared said was a nod of his head. "If everything was done as I have planned it to be, it will be our new base, we will launch our attack on those creatures as soon as possible. They will soon learn to stick to their place or better, especially those vampires.

"David and Jack have asking about you," Hunter informed. He had kept this little detail away from the injured and angry Jared because he was afraid the man would get so angry that nut would make his health worse. He had spent a lot longer in the hospital than he should have.

A bullet shouldn’t have kept that long but he spent days there recovering which surprised some of the doctors who came to check on him. But some could understand that there was something else that was weighing him down. Maybe his emotions were easy and heavy which had a physical contribution to his injuries.

His state of mind was already a mess, telling him that something as insignificant as this was not a good idea. Even now, he could still see that Jared was not right but he was better than before and the fact that he shared to go ahead with their plans was what made him tell this to him.

"They asked of you after the facility was destroyed and even a few days after that. They want to know if the mission is still on track or if it has been abandoned." Hunter added more information.

"I will meet with them after we visit Snow Town, I might ask them to come there or I will return to Coldshade City," Jared replied and Hunter just nodded. He didn’t care what he wanted to do. Those two, especially Jack, annoyed him.

What happened the last two times he had met with them irritated him so much. If he was not sure of what Jack wanted from him the first time, it was made clear in their second meeting. He had strongly rejected him before, but now he didn’t know what to do with him anymore.

The journey to Snow Town took hours but they eventually arrived and were led to a house that was once a property of the city head. When he was told of the house belonging to the city head, he remembered being told by those who raided the city that the man was a vampire. He frowned as he remembered that.

"I want a photo of him, the governor, I want his photo," he demanded. His request surprised those that heard him but a photo was brought to him.

"Here it is, Sir," the person giving him the photo said.

Jared only gave a glance at the photo to recognize him. It was the same vampire that had accompanied the Vampire Lord, Dmitri to destroy his facility. He crushed the photo the moment the memory resurfaced and tossed it to the ground.

"Demolish this building," he ordered.

"Don’t be rash, Jared," Junter said stopping him immediately. "You are being irrational, calm down and look at the losses and delay destroying this building would cause." Jared stopped and looked around the house, it was indeed big enough to house many. "Leave us," Hunter ordered and everyone else excused themselves.

"Thank you," Jared said surprising Hunter. It was rare for him to thank anyone. The only person Hunter had seen and heard him thank was the witch.

"You are welcome," Junter replied, not making him feel uncomfortable with the fact that he had just thanked him. Perhaps the witch’s absence was affecting him positively? He wondered.

The Vampire Territory

Dmitri had avoided meeting Cillia since his return last night because he knew she had sent for him but he was nowhere to be seen. He didn’t try avoiding her today because that would only escalate things and he didn’t have the patience to deal with women’s issues now.

He stared at her standing with her hands placed on her hips in front of him. He just wanted to sleep but that doesn’t seem to be happening anytime soon.

"Where were you last night, Dmitri?" she asked with a hard glare.

But the vampire just looked at her fondly, his expressions were soft and gentle as he tapped the space beside him on the bed. "Sit with me," he requested, his voice as soft as his expression.

"I am being serious here, Dmitri, and I demand an answer from you," she said still standing in the same spot.

"I am aware of that," he said and stretched his hand towards her. "Sit with me," he requested again.

"Why do I feel like I am talking to myself?" she asked getting angrier.

"You are not," he said, his hand still held out to her. She started at him and then at the hand in front of her, then the space on the head he had tapped unable to believe how calm he was being right now. She was mad at him and he was like this! "I will tell you where I was if you would sit with me,"

She gave him a suspicious look but joined him on the bed, climbing to sit where he had tapped. With her head on the headrest, she turned to look at him and asked, "I am fitted now, so where were you last night?" with her hands across her chest. She looked like a child throwing a tantrum now.

"I went out for a walk," he said and she frowned. "There is a stream nearby, I followed it down into the forest, I needed it. The scent of the outdoors, nature’s natural scent, the sound of the crickets and the animals... it is soothing,"

She started at him and didn’t know what to say. She never thought he would miss something like that.
