What could she be planning to do this time? He was sure she must have seen what would happen and made plans to counter but kept it all to herself because he was also sure that her mate did not know about it. That would be one of the reasons why he had not seen or heard of any plans or preparations from the shifters to combat what was brewing.

"We need to work together this time, not like the last time," he said and she gave him a feigned shocked expression. His, being the one talking about uniting their races was weird because he was always the one to oppose anything like that and call them weak for relying on others. "I have learned from the past, the vampires are exceptionally few now. As their leader, I am to ensure their survival. The survival of my people," he said.

"I have my plans and I know that you have yours too," she said neither agreeing nor disagreeing with his words from earlier.

"I would need your help for my plan to work perfectly," he said and she raised a brow. "Yes, I do need your help," he admitted.

She chuckled upon hearing him admit with his mouth that he, Dmitri, needed someone’s help. "Glad to hear you admit that you can’t do everything on your own, Dmitri," she said.

"Don’t push it, Gaia," he said with a slight change of expression.

"I will help if I believe it is worth it. I won’t leave my shifters to help your vampires," she said and he nodded. "Now that we have come to an agreement and the end of this conversation, I would like to take my leave," saying that she turned around to leave but was halted by the question he threw at her.

"Does he know? Your mate, does he know?" he asked, tilting his head to the side as he waited for her answer. "You have told him have you?" he asked again when neither Kora nor Gaia answered. "I think he does," he said and shrugged. "He is a lycan after all. You and I know that the hearing if a ly an surpassed even mine sometimes,"

The last words made her realize something that she had overlooked but at the same time, it made her wonder why he didn’t say anything if he knew. Was he waiting for her to tell him?

"Don’t beat yourself over it, I bet you just found that out yourself," he smiled when he said that. "Anyway, you should go before your father comes back here thinking I have done something to you,"

"What do you plan to do now that you know?" Gaia asked, her tone coming out possessive.

"For now, nothing," he said and started into the distance. "When all of this is over, I will know what I will do next, so you are rest assured,"

She stared at him trying to spot any hint of lies or deceit but she found none. "Okay," she nodded and turned around, falling on all fours, she gave one last glance at him, "Keep your word, Dmitri," she said and ran off heading for the Blood Moon pack house.

"I will this time," he said even though she was no longer there to hear him. He stood there staring in the direction where she had disappeared for a few minutes before he also left using his vampire speed.

The Shadow Moon Pack,

Darren paced to and fro in the bedroom with a huge frown on his face. This was the first night he would be spending alone after Kora was confirmed to be his mate and he found it cold and lonely.

But that was not what worried him the most, it was what he discovered the moment he dropped Kora and Emily off at the Blood Moon Pack. Although he had a feeling that that would happen, he had hoped to be different, counting on their difference from the other shifters. How wrong he was to think so.

He held out his phone to call her but he didn’t even know what to say to her. How could he face her and break the news to her? She was still so young but this had to happen.

Thinking about this made him restless and it was affecting the pack members who could feel the Alpha’s frustration through their bind to him. He was so close to them so it was no wonder that they were affected.

A knock on the door is his attention to it. In his train of thought, he had missed the scent of the two people who were standing outside his bedroom door. Realizing this, he learned his mind. Thinking about this now would help him at all. When she returns, they will both have a decent and proper conversation about it.

"Alpha," the voice of Mateo flowed in along with a soft knock on the door.

"The door is open," he said and they opened it but didn’t go in. They stood outside the room and stared at him and he was indeed a means right now.

["Luna is away for one night and he is like this,"] Levi said through the mind link but he got a look from Mateo.

["[Didn’t you come to my house because you miss your mate?"] Mateo asked and his words were able to silence Levi at once.

"Why are you here?" Darren asked because they knew it was his bedtime they shouldn’t be here right now.

"The pack is affected, Alpha," Mateo said. There was a look of concern in his eyes as he stared at him. "What is wrong, Alpha, anything we can do to help?"

"Beer, I need lots of beer right now," Darren replied, catching them off guard. He was not someone to drink senselessly so what could be the matter with him today that he was asking for beer, lots of beer, all of a sudden?

"I messed up big time," Darren replied as he stepped out of the room.

"What happened, Alpha?" Levi asked, realizing that it was more than just missing the Luna.
