Fated To The Dark Alpha
Chapter 222. Nothing will happen to me
The day went by speedily and soon it was evening and Kora was left alone in the mansion. The maids were leaving for the apartments since they were done with their daily chores and activities.
She wished she was not pregnant so she could shift and go on a run. There was no one around. Even Emily had been busy late because she was handling some of her responsibilities as well. They have stopped her from performing many activities because they wanted her to rest and not hurt herself or the growing pup inside of her which was much to her displeasure.
Everyone seems to be busy and she is forced to just sit at home and rest. How boring life could be. She thought it herself, leaning into the sofa, she found a comfortable spot to rest her back and shut her eyes. A mindlink git hee opening immediately thinking she would get to leave the house and do something even if it was getting late.
["My love,"] Derran’s voice echoed inside her head and she smiled. She had become a lot calmer and more mature lately, this change in her was noticed by everyone who knew her when she was younger.
["Are you coming home soon?"] she asked, sounding like a spoiled child who couldn’t wait for her parent’s return.
["I am afraid I will take longer than I thought I would, But I promise to come back no matter what,"] Darren said and she nodded.
["Okay, but be quick, it’s boring here and Emily is not here, Sophia is busy at the hospital and Lucy and Lucinda are busy with other stuff, I am all alone now,"] she said. The loneliness could be felt even in her voice.
["I will be back soon to keep you company,"] he said. The link ended after a few more words and Kora was left with no one to talk to again.
She began caressing her baby bump while staring at the moon, it would be the time for the baby to be born into this world and she wished to make sure he was not born into suffering, she would do whatever she could to stop the humans from destroying and eradicating her kind and send them into hiding again.
Her prayer now was that everything should just wait until it was born and she would be free to use up as much energy and power as she wished because that was the only way, but she knew that the attack from humans could happen at any time and any place. To the humans, it didn’t matter where they attacked first, all that mattered was that they had attacked the nonhumans.
She stood up and walked outside and stood under a tree while staring at the moon. It was full and bright announcing its presence to all who were under it. It shone so beautifully that even a human wouldn’t need to light their path to see clearly under it.
The cold and fresh air touched and she purred, fundfindingpot on the tree to lean against and stared at the moon. She wondered if the goddess would watch as her children were being hunted down by the humans and killed by them too. Would she do something with this file if they were losing? Or would he just watch from afar as they are killed and only show up once it is all over? That was what she did the time, in the last when such a confrontation took place and the earth was bathed in the blood of all the creatures that lived and moved upon it.
"Don’t worry, that won’t happen this time," Gaia assured her. This was something that she kept saying to her but she was starting to feel headed as the time drew nearer and nearer. The constant attacks and reports of attacks from the smaller packs had started affecting Kora and her spirit felt heavy. "We ain’t allowed it, we may ain’t allow it either," she said again.
"How can you be so sure when we have both seen what will happen? The end is uncertain, no matter how we try we are unable to see the end." She was injured, and there was annoyance in her voice when she asked those questions. It annoyed her that she could see anything she wanted, thought and space but could not see the end of what was already happening. Even the child in her, was unsure if she would be able to have them before that or after that.
She prayed and hoped it was before because what they planned would most likely claim their lives and if that happened, there was no way a child would be born out of them again. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
"That just means we can make the future the way we want it, it is undecided so we can make it, shape and turn it into what we want. We won’t play a game set by fate," Gaia explained.
"Fine, what about Darren, what is happening to him? The last time I felt something like that from him, he died, we were lucky that he came back, what about now would he die too? Then what happens to the pups?" she asked.
Gaia was silent. This was another cause for concern, there was no way they would be able to guarantee the safety of the pup without them or their mate. "We have to make sure he survives," she said with conviction. "We can’t let him die. The darkness that had matched itself to him can be driven off him, we just have to find a way to do that,"
"We have tried everything and nothing worked but it is rather getting stronger as the days go by, we don’t have much time anymore," Kora said and she could hear Gaia nodding her head.
"We will find something, and if worse comes to worst, we just have to believe in our mate to handle it, he is strong, he can do it," Gaia said and it was now Kora’s turn to nod.
Silence fell after that as they both went into thinking. Kora sat on a protruding root and leaned against the tree. She had her eyes shut basking under the moonlight. It helped ease her aching heart.
"Why are you out here?" Darren’s voice came into their ears from beside her. Her eyes fluttered open and found squatting beside her. "Isn’t it cold for you," he asked, checking her temperature by coaching her forehead and then her neck.
"No, I like it here," she replied. He sat beside her and she turned to lean on him, placing her head on his shoulder and he cricket an arm around her waist to make sure she was comfortable. "You came back faster than I thought you would," she said.
He cupped her cheek with one hand and caressed it tenderly while she shut her eyes feeling the sparks travel through her body. This was the best feeling ever, being held by him and feeling the sparks each time they touched each other. "I had it done faster than I thought and came back immediately," he said.
"Thank you," she said and he pressed a kiss on her forehead. His hand then moved to her stomach and related there. Soon they will be able to hold their child. He wondered what that would feel like,
"I should be thanking you for staying with me," he said.
She opened her eyes and laced her fingers with his and smiled. But then she caught something, his tattoos, they seem to have spread all the way to the back of his palm but they were not like that before.
"Darren," she called with panic and concern.
"I am fine," he assured her but that was not enough for her. Sitting up and taking hold of his collar, she pulled aside and the same thing was happening to neck, it had spread as well. "don’t worry, nothing is happening to me," he said when he saw a tear roll down her eyes. He wiped it and kissed her eye forcing her to close them. "Nothing will happen to me,"
