Chapter 247: 246. Frustration

"I can’t find Kora," Emily said, walking down the stairs. She wore a frown on her face mirroring her displeasure and worry. "Alpha isn’t here either."

Levi sighed. This was not the time to start looking for their leaders. If word of this was to spread, it would send panic to everyone. As if to add to his worry, Emily said,

"I can’t even mind-link either of them." she stopped beside him and looked up the stairs as if expecting them to appear right there and then.

"Stop," he placed a hand on her mouth to stop her from speaking, making him more antsy than he already was. "Please."

Emily kept silent after seeing the expression he wore. She had unknowingly made him more worried than he should have with her words. "I am sure they are somewhere around," she said, trying to ease his worry.

"I know," he said but he was still frustrated that of all times, it was now they chose to go somewhere without telling anyone. "Come, we will wait for them inside. If we go out there now without them, the warriors would seek answers which we can not provide."

They walked into the living room and made themselves as comfortable as their worried minds would allow them. A moment later, Lucy walked in through the back door and caught their attention. She stopped when she spotted them.

"Where have you been, we all thought you had become unalive," Levi said and looked at her in scrutiny.

"You all thought I was dead?" she asked with a raised brow.

"Yes. You have been so scarce that no one ever bothers to ask of you anymore," he said looking behind her hoping to see the Alpha and Luna walking in through that same door but was disappointed.

"You all thought I was dead and no one bothered to go look for me?" she asked, placing a hand on her waist and leaning against the wall.

"You are so capable that we know you would find a way to bring yourself back, just like how you did just now," he argued innocently. He was bored as well as angry so making Lucy angry would help him a bit. That was what he thought until he saw her shaking her head.

"If I am dead, how am I to find my way home?" she asked, pushing herself off the wall and walking towards the sofa to sit.

Levi shrugged nonchalantly not wanting to give a reply to that.

"Don’t listen to him, we know Alpha sent you on an errand not so long ago. He is just looking for someone to annoy," Emily said. "We can’t find Alpha and Luna, do you have any idea where they might be? It is time to leave and everyone is waiting,"

"They’ll be here soon," Lucy replied, sitting on a single sofa. "Would you like some tea?" she asked not bothered at all that they were looking at her for an explanation.

"You sound like one of the British people from ancient times. Always drinking tea," Levi commented and Emily smiled while Lucy just gave him a look.

"I would like some tea," Emily replied after clearing her throat.

"If the warriors were to see you drinking tea while they stand under the harsh weather outside they would be cursing at you in their hearts," Levi said and picked up a tea cup from the table.

"You can’t even resist it after your speech, what gamma you are," Lucy said with an eye roll.

"It is cold, I too need a little warmth before heading into the cold." He drank his tea and ignored their gaze.

The door opened and Emily and Levi thought it was the Alpha and Luna but they were disappointed upon seeing Mateo walking in. Seeing them with tea, he frowned and asked,

"Why are you drinking tea instead of helping Alpha and Luna pack up?"

"We can’t find them so we can’t help them back up," Levi replied calmly, leaving Mateo to worry about them now that he was here. He had done his part of worry until he got to drink a soothing tea that helped relax his nerves. "What is this tea made out of?" he asked. He did not expect to be so calm even though he wanted to leave worrying for Mateo.

Lucy shrugged. "Did you see me make it?" she asked and Levi almost spat the tea out of his mouth. Had it not been so good, he would have.

Mateo stared at them not knowing what to say anymore. They had completely forgotten that they had to leave to set up camp and prepare early the next morning should the attack come earlier than anticipated. His eyes glazed over and Emily decided to inform him since she already knew who he was trying to link.

"They can’t be reached through the mind link." She stopped and took a sip of her tea while he stared at her with frustration and she knew he had tried to link them. "I tried many times but failed."

"And you thought sitting down and drinking tea was the best thing to do, why?" he asked, not understanding why they didn’t go look for them or at least send people out to look for them.

"If we do and go in the wrong direction, we won’t find alpha and what happens if we go and they arrive here? Then they would have to wait for us to return, so we wait here for them," Levi replied.

"Has it occurred to you that you are to leave the link open so we can all reach each other?" Mateo asked. This was a reason humans would give and it would make sense but for shifters... what the f*ck?

"Tell that to Alpha and Luna," Levi replied. He leaned back and rested his head on the chair and shut his eyes. "You look stressed, you should have some tea, it will help," he said, offering his cup to Mateo. He took it back and then looked at Lucy, "Could make him a cup of tea? He needs it more than we do."
