Chapter 254: 253. Battle 1: Raven

David entered the Blood Moon pack and walked to the pack house where he had visited the one time he came here. The manor was vacant as if it had been abandoned for a couple of days already. David frowned and clenched his fist as his jaws worked.

He stormed into the building and moved from room to room but still found nothing. He refused to give up. His gut feeling told him that someone was around if not more than one. He continued badging into every room until he stopped after opening the room upstairs.

He stood and stared at the man sitting with his back facing him and he didn’t need him to turn around for David to know who that man was. His dark and dark clothes were more than enough for him to recognize him at a glance.

"Turn around," David ordered. He had his gun ready to shoot if he tried anything funny. He may not have found his ’good daughter’ here, but at last, he found her mate. The man he hated the most. "No funny business." His voice held command that would have been enough to scare whoever he was talking to had it been someone else.

"Tell me, Mr. Spears, why should I?" He asked still without turning around. He continued to start out the window with his hands in the armrest of the chair and his head thrown back. He looked very relaxed the way he sat and this irked David to the bone.

"I will kill you," David said but Raven laughed and David gritted his death in annoyance.

"Kill without seeing the look on my face after plotting for so long? I doubt you will do that. I bet you will want to take your sweet time to torture and watch me struggle in vain at your mercy." Raven asked.

David hated the fact that he was right. Killing him on the spot and from his back was not the way he wanted Raven to die. He wanted to kill him while staring him in the eyes and about a hole through his head if it was by gun he would die. If possible, he wanted Rossie to stand and watch as her mate was killed. The screams and pleas from her begging for her mate’s life would be soothing.

"I have some questions I would like to ask you," Rave said. He stood up from the chair but still didn’t look back at the man or turn around. He walked to the window and opened the curtains to let in the sun and the air from outside, he shut his eyes as the cold wind blew in. "Is Rossie your biological daughter?" he asked and turned around. It was his time to see the expression on the man’s face and be able to judge from that alone.

David was taken aback not expecting that question to come out of the blue. For a moment he seemed to have forgotten where he was as he stared at him wide-eyed.

"My second question is, did you ever love her? Whether she shares the same blood with you or not, did you ever see her as your daughter the way a father should?" he asked again. Knowing the answers to these questions would be enough to help him decide whether to give the man before him a quick and painless death or a low torturous one. "I am waiting, David."

Do you think he will be okay?" Extra asked Lazarus. They watched as David entered the pack house and heard banging against every door and they knew he was looking for Rosie and Raven.

"He will, you should know him by now," Lazarus replied and Ezra nodded. Raven was calm and often aloof but his skills could not be underestimated. "Let’s get ready, he is here, others won’t be far behind." Lazarus stood up and poked over his shoulder and found Rossi starting at the Packhouse without blinking even for a second. "Trust Raven, Rossie, he won’t die in there with only one man," he said and she moved her gaze from the k house to him.

"I know, but I can’t help but worry," she said. Being with him for so many years now she knew his strength and he could easily get rid of her father if he wanted to and come out unscathed but she found it very difficult to not worry. She even began questioning whom she was worried about. Was it Raven or the man whom she knew as her father?

"That is understandable, but do not let get to you," he said knowing that the two people in there who were about to kill each other were important to her. A parent was not one to forget easily, no matter what pain they cost you. "Come, I will take you Dana, and the others."

This was necessary before she ran into the pack house at the sound of a gunshot which he knew would happen soon.

"I will stay and wait for him, should he need help, I will go in there," Ezra said in an attempt to ease her worry.

"Okay," she finally agreed. Right now she was glad that she was not allowed to be in there with Raven. She didn’t know how she would have reacted had she been in there now. Just the sight of her father alone was enough to throw her emotions into chaos. Standing face to face with him with a gun in hand pointed at her or her mate would have been enough to cause a heart attack. "Point the way, Alpha, I will find them on my own, you are needed here," she said not wanting to be the reason why Lazarus would leave when there was bound to be an attack anytime soon. Should they attack while he was gone, it may not end up well for the warriors. They needed their Alpha.

"You are not her biological father then," Raven stated with a nod of his head. David had been silent since he had asked the question and until he did not attempt to answer it. It was not hard to guess the answer when the one asked was so reluctant to answer a question as simple as that, it also examined a lot.

Had he needed her biological father, he would not have abused her that way and even if he did, he would feel remorseful at some point. He would be out here hunting her to have her killed too if he was a biological father.

"You don’t deserve to have known someone like Rossie," Raven said. He revered how scared she was the time he found her being abused by her father yet she refused to speak up for herself because she was afraid of what would happen to him. She was more than ready to keep him away, to stop him from helping her. "You should have never raised her if you couldn’t love her."

"You say that now because of that stupid bond you have with her. Had she not been your mate, would you have known she existed?’ David asked and smirked when he saw the frown on his face. "You would have been here with whoever you ended up with and she wouldn’t have known you that things like you existed either."

Raven frowned. He couldn’t imagine being without her now. Rossie had become his everything and just thinking of how she would have been suffering in the hands of the man in front of him now, it made his blood boil and his jaws hardened. He clenched his fists, just imagining it alone enraged him. His dark eyes seemed to have become darker as he stared at the man.

Without a second to lose, he had his fingers wrapped around David’s neck and slammed him against the wall. David was taken aback by his sudden attack. He knew these creatures were fast but he thought he had prepared enough for anything but this shifter managed to take him by surprise.

"Your blood will paint this wall so I can always look at it before I go to bed. That way, I will know that no one can ever hurt my woman anymore, and if anyone ever dares, they will face the same fate." Taken tightened his grip on David’s neck and they could hear something crack.

David’s hand that held the gun struggled to move so he could fire at him but it was difficult as he could feel the air in his lungs too shallow and consciousness slowly leaving him. ’I refused to die without making one of you with me.’ David said to himself.

He raised it giving all of his strength to his right hand and pulled the trigger without caring he shot the shifter and the deafening sound of the gun was heard.
