Fated To The Dark Alpha
Chapter 253 - 252. Forget him
David along with Jack led the army toward the Blood Moon Pack and getting close enough, he noticed that something was not right. The border that always had security guarding it now had none at their post. Though the city is always quiet, the silence this time was eerie.
He stopped walking and those with him did the same. Jack, who was the closest to him whistled, also caught on to what was going on. "They knew we were coming."
"Have them get ready," he said, moving forward alone.
"Where are you going?" Jack asked. This was not the time when the one who should be leading should walk off alone. What would happen if something happened to him?
"No matter what happens, don’t come for me," He stopped and said in a low tone after Jack drew closer. "All I want to see is my daughter and her mate. Whatever happens after that, does not matter."
He walked away after that. If he hurried, he might still catch up to them while they were evacuating. He needed to get to her and show what it was like to disregard her family and choose an outsider. Call him deranged for hunting his child like this, he considered himself justified.
She owed him her life for all the time he spent raising her. She shouldn’t have been so ungrateful and this wouldn’t have happened to her. Whatever he was doing now she deserved it. And that shifter deserved to die too. He did not only get involved in a family matter but also threw him in jail and took his daughter without his permission.
Jack just shook his head because this just threw all of their plans to the wind. David’s anger towards his daughter and her mate had been a driving force to his participation in the operation but now it was becoming a problem that needed to step back and plan their next step.
"Where is the captain going?" one of the squad members asked. He was as confused as the others. They were meant to come and wait here while Jared and Hunter mobilized forces to join them. Then they can enter the pack and take it but their leader had just walked off without saying a word to them.
"Forget him. He has some family matters to attend to," Jack said but that didn’t seem to be a reason to abandon the team without a word. "He said to forget him and focus on the mission," he added the last part so they know to not expect him back anytime soon.
"So what do we do now?" They asked.
"We wait as we should be doing. There is no one here, it appears that they knew we were coming and left the pack, we have to wait for the others to make new plans." Jack said and took his communication device to inform Hunter who would then relay the message to Jared. He could imagine how furious Jared would be but that wouldn’t matter now anyway.
It didn’t take long for Hunter to reach them after the message was sent and he didn’t look happy. His expression alone was enough to help guess his furious Jared would be and what he would look like. They looked behind him and did not see Jared and felt relieved.
"David must be a fool to think that they would run without putting up a fight," he said walking to the front of the soldiers. Everyone should have known by now that these creatures were not the type to abandon their homes when it was time for war. They would rather stay and fight to death than leave it for their enemies to take and David just ran to his death by leaving just like that. Couldn’t take his revenge during the fight when everyone would be there and lent a helping hand if he needed one.
"We are going, have your weapons loaded and ready. Spray the gas as soon we cross the border and shoot with the slightest movement in the bushes. It is almost nightfall, have your night vision goggles ready." Hunter said loud enough to be heard by all. "We have just received information that the vampire’s base is not far from the Blood Moon Pack, after raiding this pack, we will head there."
"Yes sir," they chorused. The information was new but it meant the night would be more busy than they had anticipated.
"Where is Jared?" Jack asked. He could not have gone hiding now that his plans were being actualized.
"He is heading for the Shadow Moon Pack. The prime minister isn’t who we thought he was," he replied while making sure everything was ready on his side.
Jack was quick to understand what he meant and smiled in amusement. They never suspected that the man who had come to them offering them help would turn out to be one of the two people whom they wanted to kill the most. It was no wonder Jared decided to do it by himself.
"This is not right," Jack said as he suddenly cried his mind. They were not thinking straight at all. They have all let their emotions get involved with the mission that they fail to see the obvious.
"The Blood Moon Pack knew we were coming. The Alpha Supreme knew our plans, don’t you think he would have been prepared and they must have picked a war zone already? In this case, it is either the Shadow Moon Pack or the Blood Moon Pack. Which means that one of us is going on a wild goose chase. We will be greeted with an empty pack."
Hunter stopped and looked at him as the realization dawned on him and he quickly called Jared. They needed a change of plans.
"The pack is empty," were the first words that Hunter heard when Jared answered the call.
"The fight will happen in the Blood Moon Pack, this is the place they have picked, my team and I are setting out, hurry, we will need assistance," Hunter said, not beating around the bushes.
"Well?" Jack asked with a knowing smile.
"The pack was empty," he tried without looking at him. He looked at the soldiers who had been looking at him waiting for his instruction as it seemed that nothing was going as planned and said, "We move in now!"
