Fated To The Dark Alpha
Chapter 256 - 255. Battle 3: Dana
The soldiers led by Hunter and Jack slowly made their way into the Blood Moon Pack throwing gasses mixed with silver on every possible hiding corner to Chase out.
Meanwhile, from afar, Lazarus stood with his pack watching as they ransacked his pack. His eyes fluctuated between red and their original black color as they moved closer. He was trying hard not to rush out there so they would stop what they were doing but he knew that would not stop them. Rather, it will make them do more.
["Take your positions,"] he said through the mind link. The moment has come for them to fight for their pack and race. Many would die tonight but it was for a great cause. Once this was over, they would think of how to live side by side with the humans again. ["Attack on my command."] he looked at his Beta and Gamma who were not far from him.
He could leave this for them to lead the warriors but he wanted to be here with them. Fight with them and if anything happens, he wants to be there for them.
They looked at him and nodded to him, they were in this together. The other packs were not far behind them to come forward to help when more of the soldiers came into play. Right now there were only a few soldiers on their grounds so the others were bound to come shortly later.
The soldiers drew closer and closer and soon they were just a few meters away from where the pack was. They looked like they couldn’t believe how empty the pack was until now, no one had come out or at least run away because of the gas in the air. But it was at this point that Lazarus gave the order, ["Attack,"] to his warriors and they charged at them, taking them by surprise.
The fights started with the shifters attacking first and the humans had to struggle to regain their balance soon, gunshots could be heard, and howling filled the once-silent night.
Lazarus gritted his teeth whenever a shifter fell. He felt all of the pain and agony as the shifter’s life left him and he knew that their families would feel them fall as well. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
Meanwhile, Jack took a few soldiers and maneuvered their way past the warrior and into the trees behind the pack house. They intended to attack from behind but they were met with the women who did not evacuate the pack and thought to kill them first though it would blow their cover.
"Leave no one alive," he ordered. This was what he had been told to do and he would do. The pack doesn’t seem that big so he intended to be done with them so they could move to the next pack.
"Yes, Commander," the soldiers chorused but before they could attack, they noticed something odd around them. It was as if nature had come alive in this one little place and she was against them.
The ground underneath them shook creating minor earthquakes and the trees swayed left and right and then it suddenly stopped. The next moment, the vines hanging from the trees started to attack them while the women withdrew from them.
"What is happening," a soldier asked because he found this weird. There was no way the forest could come alive like this. It was not natural at all.
"Witches," Jack answered. Many of these soldiers were only trained inside the facilities and had no field experience. Witches were only heard of from those who had had an encounter with them but they were very few. Witches were the hardest to spot since they were basically humans without their powers and they could hide that.
Though he said witches, he noticed that it was not the case, there was a girl who was controlling this and he knew she was a shifter, he had been her before. Or maybe a picture of her.
"Take out your knives and cut them off," he ordered. He didn’t have to tell them this but it looked like he had to tell them everything. Guns were not working on the vines and everything around. They should have known to put them away and use knives instead.
He locked his eyes on the girl and took out his gun, she was a high-rank shifter from what he knew, kill her and there would be a disturbance in the pact that links all the shifters to her and they would be disoriented. There would be a little chance for them to seize and kill off these creatures.
At that exact moment, Dana stopped walking away, she was already mad and ready to kill because of all the lives that had already been lost in such a short time. She could feel her pack link snap one after another and she didn’t want to leave them alone when she could so much staying with the warriors.
She turned just in time to see the gun pointed at Kora and all restraint left her. Her blue eyes were quick to change purple and the usual aura that many had grown accustomed to surrounded her.
"Go without me," she said but no one made a move from where they stood to leave her.
"We stick together, remember, Luna?" Rossie said. She took out her crossbow that she had prepared for this moment and started to fire.
"You don’t have to, save them for later," Dana said and started gathering energy that stemmed from her to where the humans stood. Purple light filled the place illuminating the forest. She locked her eyes on Jack who also has his focus and gun pointed at her now.
Jack fired and immediately, there was an explosion so loud that everything became still for a few minutes after it. Even in the dark, a mushroom cloud could be seen from afar. The surroundings settled and what was left in front of them was a giant crater spanning from where Dana stood to where the humans once stood and there was none of them left. They have been buried in the ground.
"Are you alright?" Kora came to her side and she nodded but her breathing was ragged. She was probably angry that she used too much power when it did not require that much to kill a couple of humans. Kora stared at the crater that now looked as if nature carved it there and bent to fix it. She placed her right hand on the ground and slowly, the earth started to rise and filled up the hole until it was back to normal. "Does anyone still think we should still leave them?" she asked knowing that was no longer in the minds of everyone here now.
