Chapter 30: Janice, I’m Back

Janice stared at Lucy’s fervent look and felt a little incredulous.

"How handsome is he? Is he as handsome as Christopher?" She wondered to herself.

"Well, I see. Your dream has come true. I’m going out."

Lucy was still immersed in her own daydream, so she naturally did not hear what Janice said.

Janice walked to the elevator with her bag on her back. Just as she was about to take the elevator, a figure appeared in front of her.

Janice didn’t pay attention to it. She just regarded it as a colleague and nodded a greeting.

The elevator doors opened, and she walked in, followed by the figure.

She reached out to press the elevator button, but suddenly a big hand covered her hand.

Janice was stunned for a moment. She looked back subconsciously. When she saw the familiar face behind her, she couldn’t help but be shocked.

"Janice, I’m back."

Janice stood there, with one of her hands still wrapped under the heavy palm, but her whole body froze.

It was as if someone had cast a spell on her. She stood there motionlessly, and the whole world was quiet except for her heart that was racing.

It was as if someone had pressed the pause button. She stared at that person’s face like a statue without a soul.

"What’s wrong? Are you surprised?"

Only when the pair of warm hands landed on her shoulders did Janice break out of her trance. She quickly stepped back and avoided him as if avoiding the plague.

Benjamin Taylor was stunned. He stared at Janice in confusion.

"Janice, what’s wrong with you? We haven’t seen each other for three years and you act like don’t know me?"

Janice did not say anything. She turned her head back slowly to the front and said in a low voice, "Long time no see."

Seeing Janice’s reaction, Benjamin was somewhat surprised.

After all, he imagined meeting Janice, he would receive a passionate hug and even a long kiss. Otherwise, he would not have waited at the station for so long. When he saw her coming out from inside, he followed her.

However, the current situation seemed to be somewhat different from what he had

thought. But he did not think too much about it.

After all, they hadn’t seen each other for three years, so it was reasonable for her to be unfamiliar with him.

"Janice, are you going out for an interview?"

His gaze fell on the backpack on her back and Benjamin said, "Give me the bag."

As he spoke, he reached out to grab her bag.

However, Janice sidestepped him. "No need, thank you."

She was polite and distant.

Benjamin’s hand froze. It took him a long time to withdraw it. He tilted his head and carefully glanced at her face. Before he could open his mouth, the elevator door pinged open.

Janice was already walking out.

Benjamin was stunned for a moment and quickly followed.

"Janice, wait up!"

Janice walked briskly. It took Benjamin a lot of effort to catch up with her and grab her arm before she stopped.

"What’s the matter?"

Janice stood passively. Instead of looking at him, her eyes fixed on a random spot elsewhere.

Benjamin stared at Janice and was at a loss for a moment. "Janice, was my return too sudden? Ah, I get it. It’s all my fault. I should have given you the heads up before I came back."

Janice did not speak. At this time of day, many people were coming and going. Many of them were her colleagues. Standing in the hall, they attracted the attention of several people.

Janice felt very uncomfortable and said, "I still have an interview. I have to go." After that, she left in a hurry.

Benjamin stood there and watched her leave in a daze. His eyes were filled with confusion.

...

By the time Janice arrived at the interview site, it was already half an hour later.

Along the way, she felt very depressed.

She thought that she would never see him again, and then he suddenly reappeared.

"God is really playing tricks on me."

However, this matter did not stay in her heart for too long. Once she started working, Janice had a one-track mind.

After a day’s work, Janice returned home, but Christopher had not returned yet.

She went to the bathroom to take a shower first. When she came out, she received a call from Yvonne.

"Janice, Benjamin is back. Do you know?"

Yvonne’s voice came from the other end of the phone.

Janice paused for a moment before replying, "I’ve already met him."

"Are you all right then?" Yvonne asked worriedly.

Janice sighed in her heart. What else could she do? She was no longer an 18-year-old girl. She was a married woman now.

"I’m okay. Don’t worry."

Hearing her relaxed tone, Yvonne heaved a sigh of relief. "That’s good. He bumped into me in the hospital today and called me. I was shocked and couldn’t recognize him. Three years is not a short time, it can really change a person."

However, Janice did not want to continue this topic. "Yvonne, let’s not talk about him. What can I do for you?"

Yvonne suddenly remembered the purpose of her call and said, "I almost forgot. Recently, our hospital hired a famous psychologist. I thought of your husband, so I want to ask if you want to bring him here for a consultation."

Hearing this, Janice hesitated. After all, this needed Christopher’s cooperation. She was not sure if Christopher would agree.

She said, "I’ll think about it. If I decide, I’ll call you."

Yvonne said, "Okay, then you have to hurry up. This expert has only set up a week’s clinic in our hospital. There are many people making appointments. If you miss this opportunity, it’s gone."

"Okay."

After hanging up the phone, Janice felt a little blue. How could she tell Christopher?

She lied to him about the last test by saying that it was a free physical examination. But what should she say about a psychologist?

She couldn’t say that he needed to see a doctor because he had psychological problems.

Thinking of this, Janice felt a little deflated.

When Christopher came back, he saw her sitting restlessly on the sofa, as if she was worried about something. "What’s wrong? Is there something bothering you?"

Christopher stepped forward and asked.

Janice was stunned for a moment and hurriedly said.

"No, I’m just hungry."

Without any suspicion, Christopher got up and said, "What do you want to eat? I’ll make it for you."

He walked towards the kitchen.

Janice looked at his back as he walked into the kitchen. She felt a little embarrassed.

As a man, he cooked for her all day long.

So, she got up and followed him, saying, "Why don’t we go out to eat? It’s hard on you to cook so often."

Christopher was opening the fridge to get the ingredients when he heard her words. He looked at her with interest. "Didn’t you say that you wanted to support me? You’re responsible for making money, and I’m responsible for taking care of your diet. Unless you want me to leach off you?"

Hearing what he said, Janice really didn’t know what to say.

She thought, "He won’t misunderstand me, will he?"

"I didn’t mean that."

She explained very seriously.
