Flash Marriage: My Penniless Billionaire Husband
Chapter 94: Thank Your Boyfriend For His Help
No wonder Director Taylor was in such a bad temper today. It turned out that he had been embarrassed.
She didn’t expect Rob Hanson to pull such a move.
However, she felt that something was wrong, but she couldn’t figure it out at the moment. She didn’t dwell on it, wiped her hands, and walked out of the bathroom.
The whole morning, the TV station was abuzz, talking about Janice’s gossip.
Benjamin got a headache from hearing it everywhere he went.
He found the person in charge of the sponsorship and asked about the sponsors.
"Director Taylor, our show is about to start. Except for Eternal Jewelry, which we have signed a contract with, none of the other companies have any intention to cooperate with us."
Hearing this, Benjamin’s temper flared and he punched the table.
If he had known that the jewelry brand was under Christopher’s name, he wouldn’t have agreed.
But now, he had given Christopher a chance to intervene.
He didn’t want Christopher’s interference, not only because of his relationship with James Taylor, but also because of Janice.
He had created this show for Janice as his compensation for the past three years.
However, now Christopher had intervened, everything had changed. What he had done became meaningless.
Benjamin clenched his fists, feeling weak and helpless.
He had personally paved a path for Janice, but never would he have thought that he was also making it easy for Christopher.
However, he was unable to change anything.
Interrupting him, someone knocked on the office door.
Benjamin unclenched his fists and looked up. Seeing that it was Janice, he narrowed his eyes.
"Director Taylor, are you looking for me?"
Janice asked.
Benjamin said, "Sit."
Janice walked in and sat down. However, she did not understand why Benjamin had suddenly summoned her.
Benjamin’s eyes fell on her face. and he couldn’t help but think of the scene at the
elevator in the morning.
He closed his eyes in pain, forcing himself to look away from her.
"Last night, the information I sent you, was it helpful?"
Janice nodded. "Indeed, it’s what I needed. Thank you, Director Taylor."
Hearing her words, Benjamin felt slightly gratified.
He said, "This is what I should do. The test filming will be held tomorrow. I hope you can show up in your best condition."
Janice nodded. "I will."
Benjamin was silent, though he had many things he wanted to share, but he could only say.
"Well, go back to work."
As soon as he finished speaking, he turned away.
Janice got up. She felt that he was acting weird today, but she didn’t think too much about it. She turned around and went out.
Benjamin waited until he couldn’t hear her footsteps at all, then he slowly looked in the direction she had left with empty eyes.
As soon as Janice came out of Benjamin’s office, she ran into Denise in the corridor.
"Janice."
"Director Kelshore."
Janice greeted her.
Denise looked in the direction Janice came from with a hint of curiosity in her eyes.
"You... have just come out of Director Taylor’s office?"
Janice didn’t know why Denise would ask such a question, but she nodded.
Denise smiled and said, "By the way, I heard from everyone that your boyfriend came over this morning and showed off his love in public."
Denise said with interest.
Janice was a little embarrassed. "It’s not as exaggerated as everyone said."
"Speaking of which, thank your boyfriend for his help this time. I’ll treat you to dinner another day."
Denise patted her shoulder and walked away, leaving Janice a little confused.
...
Why did Denise say that she wanted to thank Christopher for his help?
What had he helped?
However, Denise was already far away before Janice could ask.
Janice retracted her thoughts and went back to work.
At noon, during lunch in the cafeteria, Janice ran into Lucy.
Lucy approached her as soon as she saw her.
"Janice, everyone is talking about your boyfriend this morning, and they are all praising him. When can I see him in person?"
Janice was a little embarrassed. "He’s just like an ordinary person."
Lucy frowned. "You must have some misunderstandings about ordinary people. I’ve heard that he’s almost out of this world."
"It’s not as exaggerated as everyone said."
Janice complained.
Lucy did not say anything but sighed.
"Janice, I’m so envious of you now. You have your own program. You no longer have to worry like me at the end of the month."
Lucy poked the food in front of her gloomily.
"Then how far are you from the target this month?" Janice asked.
Lucy said, "There is still a long way to go. I think even an immortal can’t save me."
Janice felt sorry for Lucy, but she couldn’t help much. After all, she didn’t even have a reporter’s credentials.
"By the way, do you still remember the guy who returned from aboard, the last time when we went to Techno Tower?"
Lucy suddenly asked.
"If only I could interview him."
Lucy sighed.
Janice, on the other hand, had a guilty look on her face.
If Lucy knew that person was her Hubby, she did not know how she would react.
"Janice, why do you think that big shot is so difficult to interview? Until now, no one has succeeded. Is it possible that there is no such person at all, is he made up?"
Janice stared at Lucy. For a moment, she wanted to tell her that that person was real, and he was her Hubby.
However, she felt that it was too awkward.
She quickly suppressed her thoughts and said, "Well... Lucy, I still have work to do. I’ll go first."
After that, she left in a hurry.
However, Lucy was a little depressed as she stared at her leaving figure. Why did she leave after just saying a few words?
As Janice left, she thought to herself, "Such a close shave, I almost blurted it out." However, she was a little curious. Why hadn’t Christopher been interviewed before?
In Christopher’s office. "Mr. Bateman, a few media outlets have called to interview you recently."
Christopher was sitting in front of his desk and Rob reported truthfully. Christopher frowned. "Just like in the past, I won’t accept any interviews."
Rob nodded and was about to go out, but he thought of something, "The chairman called and said that you must go back tonight."
A hint of coldness flashed across Christopher’s face.
He would not be going back.
He checked the time, Janice was about to get off work. He picked up his coat and walked out.
As soon as he got to his car, Uncle Charlie appeared.
"Sir, please go back."
Christopher narrowed his eyes when he saw Uncle Charlie.
For the sake of Uncle Charlie, he was afraid that he had to go back this time. He said, "Okay, I’ll go back with you."
Christopher opened the door and got in the car. He called Janice.
"Tonight, I may be a little late to pick you up."
When Janice received his call, she was worried about the audition tomorrow.
...
She was so nervous that once she stepped onto the stage, she couldn’t even locate the camera.
When she heard Christopher was picking her up a little later, she said listlessly, "I got it."
Christopher frowned when he heard her voice on the other end of the line. "Why does it sound like you’re unhappy?"
Janice pursed her lips. "No, I’m OK."
So Christopher said, "I’ll call you when I get there."
"Okay." Janice hung up the phone and sighed.
Anyway, she had to memorize all the right positions to look at tonight.
She secretly made up her mind.
"Janice, aren’t you leaving yet?"
Denise passed by the entrance of the set and saw Janice, who was still on the stage, so she walked over.
Janice said, "I want to get familiar with the stage."
Her expression was a little unnatural.
Denise didn’t ask any more questions. She smiled and said, "Don’t be too late. It’s not safe to go back alone."
Janice nodded and watched Denise leave with a smile on her face.
She felt that Denise was different from her usual self. She looked very cheerful.
Denise was usually a professional, it was rare to see such a soft side.
However, Janice did not think much of it. She turned around and continued her practice on the stage.
In the Batemans’s home.
As soon as Christopher’s car stopped at the door, he heard loud laughter coming from inside. He frowned and walked in.
He saw his father, Nathan, sitting under the grape vines in the backyard. There was a chessboard in front of him, and Denise was sitting on the other side of the chessboard.
Christopher saw Denise and immediately understood why his father had called him back.
He stepped forward.
Denise saw Christopher walking over. "Chris is back."
She got up with an elegant smile on her face.
Christopher didn’t respond to her, but turned his gaze to Nathan.
Without waiting for him to speak, Nathan stood up and said, "Since everyone is here, let’s eat."
Nathan got up from his chair and walked towards the dining room.
Christopher, however, stood still.
"I’m not eating. If there’s nothing else, I’m going back."
After that, he walked out of the backyard.
"Stop." Nathan glanced at Denise. "Denise, go out and take a look. Have they finished setting dinner?"
Denise nodded and tactfully left.
After Denise left, Nathan stepped forward and spoke to Christopher.
"In a while, I’ll talk to Denise about returning to the company."
Christopher raised his eyebrows.
"Why did you ask her to go back to the company?"
His tone was calm.
"You don’t want to come back, yet won’t you allow me to find a capable person to help?"
There was a trace of blame in Nathan’s tone.
"How come I recall that’s not what you said three years ago." There was a hint of irony in Christopher’s words.
"That was three years ago. Denise was still young and she needed to improve her abilities. Now it’s different. She has become much more mature after coming back from abroad."
Christopher, however, was completely unmoved.
"She has stepped into the TV circle. Are you sure she will come back?"
"You don’t have to worry about that. As long as I ask, Denise won’t refuse." Nathan replied firmly.
"Is that so? If that’s the case, you can just tell her yourself. Why do you have to tell me these things?" Christopher snorted coldly.
Nathan’s expression was somewhat unnatural.
"It’s because of what happened three years ago. Do you think that Denise won’t
mind?"
Christopher sneered in his heart. He knew that his father would say that.
