Chapter 95: I Didn’t Think You’d Be So Virtuous

In the front hall, Denise helped Uncle Charlie set up the table while looking in the direction of the backyard.

She was a little curious and didn’t know what the chairman would say to Christopher.

Soon, Nathan and Christopher came in together.

"Chairman, dinner has been set."

Denise stepped forward and said.

Nathan nodded and walked over. He sat down in the main seat, but saw that Christopher was still standing by the side without any intention of taking a seat. He pulled a long face and said, "Sit down, everyone."

Denise then looked at Christopher and reminded him, "Chris."

Christopher didn’t look at Denise, he just found a seat and sat down expressionlessly.

Denise sat next to him.

Nathan’s gaze fell on Denise.

"Denise, how have you been at the TV station recently?"

"Thanks to the chairman, everything’s going quite smoothly."

"That’s good." Nathan gave his approval. Glancing at Christopher, he said, "I’ve just discussed it with Christopher. I think you should go back to the company."

Denise, on the other hand, was stunned. She slowly shifted her gaze to Christopher. "This..."

Nathan seemed to have seen through her and said, "Christopher also suggested it."

"Is that so?"

Denise’s gaze fell on Christopher’s face once again, but there was a hint of hope in it.

Christopher knew what Denise was waiting for. He sneered silently. He glanced at the time, stood up, and said, "I have to go now."

He ignored the angry glare from Nathan and stood up to walk out of the door.

Christopher’s sudden departure disrupted Nathan’s plan. His expression immediately darkened.

Seeing Christopher had left, Denise felt a little embarrassed. She felt that there was no need for her to stay any longer. She said to Nathan, "Chairman, I recall I have something to do, so I’m leaving."

After Denise finished speaking, she hurriedly chased after Christopher.

When she chased up to Christopher, he was about to open his car door and get in.

Denise quickly called him.

"Chris, can I get a ride? I didn’t drive today."

Christopher held the car door in his hand and didn’t look back at Denise. "Get in then."

He got into the driver’s seat.

Denise’s face lit up with joy. She quickly walked to the passenger side and was about to open the door to get in.

"Sit in the back," Christopher said coldly.

Denise’s hand froze on the spot, her slightly dazed gaze landing on Christopher’s face. She wanted to say something, but in the end, she kept quiet.

She awkwardly closed the passenger door and opened the rear door to get in the car.

After she got in, Christopher drove off.

Denise sat in the back seat, thinking about the topic at the dining table. She was afraid Christopher would misunderstand her, so she explained.

"Chris, don’t get me wrong. I just wanted to see the chairman. I had no intention to go back to the company."

Hearing Denise’s words, Christopher sneered. "Is that so? I didn’t expect you to be so virtuous, returning kindness for past hurt."

Denise could hear the sarcasm in his words.

She frowned. "Chris, in fact, the chairman cares a lot about you. You..."

"Where are you getting off?" Before she could finish her words, Christopher interrupted her.

Denise paused for a moment before saying, "Send me to the TV station."

Christopher thought to himself just nice he was also going there, so he drove towards that direction.

His phone rang and he picked it up. "Okay, I’m almost there."

...

Denise sat behind him and could clearly see the tenderness in his eyes from the reflection in the rear-view mirror.

She found it hard to believe. She had never seen Christopher could be so gentle. Was there something wrong with her eyes?

So, who was on the other side of the phone?

A trace of uneasiness flashed across Denise’s face. She had a feeling that although she didn’t know who was on the other end of the line, it was definitely a woman.

<So, did Chris already have a girlfriend?>

When Denise was guessing, the car passed by the entrance of the parking lot of the TV station. She said, "Let me off here."

Christopher parked the car on the side of the road.

Denise opened the door and got out of the car. She said, "Chris, thank you."

Christopher didn’t say anything. He waited for her to get out of the car before continuing to drive forward.

Denise stared at his car as it drove away. She let out a sigh and turned to the parking lot to fetch her car.

When she took her car and drove to the main entrance of the TV station, she saw Christopher’s car again.

Denise was a little surprised. Why would Chris park the car here?

Just as she was about to stop to take a look, she heard a horn behind her. Denise had no choice but to look away and drove her car off.

She saw a familiar figure getting in the car from her rear-view mirror.

That figure seemed to be Janice Gladwell.

Could she see wrongly?

But before she could confirm it, the car had driven off.

Janice got into the car. She was so tired that she didn’t even want to fasten her seat belt. She leaned against the back of the chair and closed her eyes tiredly.

Christopher’s gaze swept across her tired face. He reached over and fastened the seat belt for her before driving the car out.

"Are you tired?"

Christopher asked.

Janice opened her eyes and frowned. "A little."

Christopher reached out and caressed her hair, feeling concerned.

"Let’s go eat first. After that, I’ll take you to relax."

Janice was too lazy to ask where he’s bringing her, so she just nodded and agreed.

After the two of them had finished a simple dinner, Janice realized Christopher wanted to take her to a sauna and spa.

She and Christopher lay in the warm hot spring water, and their bodies quickly relaxed. They closed their eyes comfortably to rest.

"How is it? Do you feel a little more relaxed?"

Christopher asked.

Janice nodded. After soaking in the hot spring, she felt much more relaxed.

They lay in the hot spring pool, listening to the soothing music.

Janice felt that her previous tension was gone.

She started to feel drowsy.

She looked up at Christopher beside her. In the mist, he looked like an immortal.

This reminded her of what Lucy had said before.

That’s right, Christopher’s looks were indeed at the level of a God.

His eyes, lips, and facial features were truly impeccable.

Janice stared at Christopher’s face, gradually lost in thought. She stared at him for so long and forgot to look away.

Christopher slowly opened his eyes and looked into her eyes without warning. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂

Janice wanted to turn away in a hurry, but he caught her. He reached out and held her in his arms.

"Peeping on me?"

His warm breath went down along her ears.

Janice’s face turned red.

"Of course not."

She would never admit that she had been fascinated by his manliness.

Christopher lowered his head and placed his chin on her shoulder. His cheek was pressed against hers as he gently caressed her.

...

Janice was ticklish, so she couldn’t help squirming. "Don’t move. Let me hold you for a while." Christopher’s husky voice sounded in her ear.

Janice did not dare to move anymore, letting him hold her in his arms. It was quiet. The soothing music was still playing, and the atmosphere was comfortable but it was infused with some sexual tension.

She felt a little embarrassed as she was held in Christopher’s arms.

"May I ask you a question?"

After a long while, Janice asked.

Christopher closed his eyes. "What do you want to ask?"

There was a soft nasal sound in his voice.

Janice pursed her lips.

"Why haven’t you been interviewed?"

In her opinion, many successful people were happy to be interviewed by the media.

On one hand, it was a kind of recognition. On the other hand, it was also a very good publicity method.

Not only would he gain a good reputation, but also he could increase publicity for his company. This was killing two birds with one stone.

She didn’t understand why he would refuse.

Hearing her question, Christopher slowly opened his eyes.

He did not look at Janice, but his eyes looked a little empty.

"Why did you suddenly ask this question? Is there another target that you haven’t completed yet?"

He shifted his gaze to her face and looked at her closely.

Janice could feel his gaze. "No."

She thought, "I don’t even have my reporter’s license anymore."

She looked down and couldn’t help sighing.

Christopher saw through her thoughts. "I’ve already asked Rob to get back your reporter’s license. I’ll let him give it to you later."

"Really?"

Upon hearing that, Janice’s spirits were lifted. She turned to look at Christopher, her

eyes full of surprise.

Christopher nodded.

"That’s great."

She was so happy that she couldn’t help kissing him on the chin.

"Thank you, Christopher."

She stared at him with smiling eyes.

Christopher stared at her smiling eyes and couldn’t help kissing her.

Janice watched as his lips approached her slowly. Her heart was thumping, but she could not help but close her eyes, as if she was waiting for his kiss.

Christopher’s lips approached her little by little, but stopped when he was about to kiss her lips.

He stared at Janice’s face so close to him, but there was a hint of restraint between his eyebrows. Then he turned around and kissed her on the forehead.

Janice was looking forward to his kiss on her lips. However, she only felt a burst of warm and humid air on her forehead.

She blinked and stared at Christopher’s face, which moved slowly away.

"It’s almost time. Let’s go."

Christopher turned around and exited the hot pool.

Janice stood there, staring at his departing figure. A trace of embarrassment flashed across her face.

She thought, "I’m lustful lately."

How could she be looking forward to his kiss so much?

Janice reached out and patted her blushing cheeks before following him.

"You didn’t answer my question yet."

"If you want to interview me, perhaps I’ll consider it."

Janice thought to herself, "I won’t interview Christopher. It’s so awkward for people who live together every day to speak formally."

In the locker room, halfway through changing her clothes, Janice found that the zipper behind her dress was stuck.

She couldn’t get to it even if she wanted to. She was so anxious that she was sweating.

What should she do? There were no other women in the locker room. How could she go out?

Right at this moment, there was a knock on the door.
