Grinding EXP From Fireball Skill
Chapter 162: Counter-kill and Harvest
Li Wei descended from mid-air.
Mirus and Wicks were stunned to see him completely unscathed.
"This is impossible!"
A black shadow silently appeared behind Wicks.
"Shadow Claw!"
CRACK!
A blue light flared around Wicks as the Defense Magic Item he was wearing shattered.
A look of terror crossed his face.
"What’s going on?"
Wicks whipped his head around to look.
Suddenly, a black mist enveloped his head.
The Shadow Attendant materialized and burrowed into Wicks’s body through his nose, mouth, and ears.
Mirus watched what happened to Wicks, his face contorted in horror.
"Damn it, you’re a Black Cultist!"
WHOOSH!
A blindingly brilliant Fireball fell from the sky.
Mirus instinctively thought of the Fireball that had blasted the Lava Giant to smithereens.
He didn’t dare face such a terrifying attack.
A Tier Three High Level Lava Giant had been blown to death.
What made him think he could survive?
Even if he gambled all his Defense Magic Items, he couldn’t guarantee his survival.
Mirus ripped open a scroll, and a silver light flashed around him.
’A Space Teleportation Scroll.’
WHOOSH!
Mirus vanished on the spot.
The dazzling Fireball floated down slowly, as light as a balloon and utterly powerless.
Mirus reappeared a hundred meters away. When he saw the Fireball was fake, he was so enraged he nearly coughed up blood.
"Damn you!"
Suddenly, he felt an astonishing surge of Magic Fluctuation.
A look of terror appeared on Mirus’s face as he looked up.
A Fireball as brilliant as the Sun was descending from the sky.
So, the Super Fireball was real after all.
It had been in the sky the entire time, hidden by the Sun’s own radiance.
Li Wei had used the Illusion Technique to create a fake Super Fireball and bait out Mirus’s trump card.
Now, Mirus was out of Teleportation Scrolls.
"Wind Spirit Protection!"
Mirus roared.
It was as if he was begging for the protection of a true Wind Spirit.
BOOM!
The Super Fireball struck.
The explosion produced a light so blinding that even the Sun in the sky seemed to dim.
A mushroom cloud slowly rose.
Terrifying shockwaves swept through the area.
Wicks, who was still fighting the Shadow Attendant for control of his body, was sent flying and slammed violently onto the ground.
He nearly passed out.
Li Wei narrowed his eyes, staring at the center of the explosion.
He actually hoped Mirus had survived.
Otherwise, all his loot would have been blown to bits.
WHOOSH!
The wind blew through the deep crater left by the explosion.
The dust settled.
Revealing the scene within.
Li Wei breathed a sigh of relief.
Mirus was alive, but gravely injured.
He was charred black, lying motionless on the ground.
But Li Wei could sense that he was still breathing.
Mirus’s Spiritual Power was incredibly weak.
But weak as it was, it meant he was still alive.
Li Wei made a grasping motion in the air.
Mana formed a giant blue Mage’s Hand, which scooped Mirus out of the crater.
THUD!
Mirus was thrown to the ground, taking his last breath.
THUD!
Wicks was also thrown to the ground, having already been dealt with by the Shadow Attendant.
"Shadow Attendant, clean up the battlefield."
Li Wei glanced at the crater from the explosion.
’Maybe I should learn some Earth Magic,’ he mused. ’Otherwise, leaving an explosion crater after every fight will make it too easy to expose my identity.’
’It would be best to use Earth Magic to alter the scene and hide the evidence.’
The Shadow Attendant collected all the valuables from the two bodies.
Li Wei then incinerated the two corpses with a burst of fire.
Erasing all traces of the bodies.
Mirus had a Spatial Ring, but Wicks didn’t; he carried his belongings in a small pouch.
Ignoring the miscellaneous items, Li Wei found the most valuable things on them.
Inside Mirus’s Spatial Ring were three Magic Books.
All of them were Wind Magic Books.
The Tier One Wind Magic, Wind Cutting Technique.
The Tier Two Wind Magic, Assault Storm.
And the Tier Three Wind Magic, Thousand-Foot Storm.
Li Wei smiled. Even though they were Wind Magic, it was still a substantial gain.
At the very least, there was no harm in learning a few more spells.
If he had known a few more types of Magic, he wouldn’t have been in such a sorry state when facing the Lava Serpent and the Fire Elemental Elf.
The strengths and weaknesses between Elemental Attributes were still very important.
There was nothing of value on Wicks’s body.
However, Li Wei did find an unexpected and pleasant surprise on him.
Li Wei found a blueprint: a crafting diagram for a Magic Item.
Who knows where Wicks got it from.
Source Heart Necklace Magic Item diagram. Materials required: 300 grams of Mithril, one Elemental Crystal rich in Magic Element, 50 grams of Source Gold...
The function of the Source Heart Necklace was to store Mana and quickly replenish a Mage’s spent Mana when needed.
This was extremely valuable to Li Wei.
Besides, he possessed a treasure even more suitable than an Elemental Crystal for crafting the Source Heart Necklace.
After stowing everything away, Li Wei quickly left the scene.
CLINK CLANK!
He tossed the last Gold Coin into his Spatial Ring.
The number of Gold Coins Li Wei had reached 297.
The two didn’t have much money on them, likely having spent it all on Magic Materials.
Mirus’s Spatial Ring was filled with a pile of Magic Materials. Li Wei had no idea what he was planning to do with so much stuff.
「By evening, Li Wei had returned to Maple City.」
The Shadow Attendant concealed itself as Li Wei walked toward the city walls.
As he walked, he stretched his arms and moved his body around.
He felt a little stiff and sore after holding the same posture all day.
CRACKLE! POP!
His joints popped and cracked as he stretched.
"Ahhh, that’s much better."
CLIP-CLOP, CLIP-CLOP!
A fine horse approached, ridden by an even more beautiful woman.
"Li Wei, I haven’t seen you in days! Where have you been?"
Reina smiled and greeted Li Wei upon seeing him.
Li Wei smiled back and replied, "I went to Flying Flower City for a Mage conference."
Reina said, "I heard you’ve already become an Official Mage. Your Cultivation speed is truly fast!"
Li Wei gave a faint smile, thinking, ’If you knew I’ve already become a Tier Two Mage, you’d probably be scared to death.’
"Yes, I broke through not long ago," Li Wei said.
Reina nodded and said, "You’re now the youngest Official Mage in the history of Maple City. You have a bright future. I hope we can fight side-by-side one day."
Li Wei chuckled. "I’m sure we’ll have the chance."
"I have something to attend to, so I’ll be going now."
"Alright, see you."
"See you."
Reina waved and rode off on her warhorse.
Li Wei watched Reina’s departing figure, feeling a little puzzled.
’It’s almost nighttime. Why is Reina leaving the city at this hour?’
At night, Magic Beasts become much more ferocious.
Many nocturnal Magic Beasts, unseen during the day, also roam outside the city.
The areas outside the city become far more dangerous.
Even Professionals rarely choose to leave the city at night.
Li Wei shook his head, deciding not to dwell on it.
He headed in the direction of the Mage Tower.
Upon returning to the Mage Tower, Li Wei didn’t go back to his room.
He went straight to the third floor of the Mage Tower.
He had originally planned to visit the library to see if the Mage Tower had any Tier Two or Tier Three Magic suitable for him.
Just as he reached the third floor, Torresta’s voice echoed in his ear.
"Come up."
Li Wei paused for a moment, then walked toward the golden gate.
