Grinding EXP From Fireball Skill
Chapter 163: New Magic
The Mage Tower, Sixth Floor.
This floor belonged exclusively to Torresta.
No one could reach this floor unless they were summoned by him.
Even flying straight up from the outside, one would discover they could only reach the fifth floor of the Mage Tower.
It was as if the Sixth and Seventh Floors didn’t exist at all.
It involved the principles of Space Magic.
Li Wei walked along the red carpet toward Torresta.
He was still in the same posture, sitting cross-legged in the center of the tower floor.
It was as if he hadn’t moved at all since the last time they met.
His back was still to Li Wei.
Looking at Torresta, Li Wei was suddenly overcome with curiosity about his true appearance.
’What does he really look like?’
The Torresta he had seen so far had always been an illusion.
Without turning around, Torresta spoke with his back to Li Wei. "You did very well. It was, I admit, beyond my expectations."
"I’ve already applied to the Mage Association for a spot for you to pursue advanced studies at the Elemental Tower under the name ’Armor’."
Li Wei asked, confused, "The Elemental Tower?"
Torresta said, "There are five top-level Mage Towers in the world: the Elemental Tower, the Illusion Spirit Tower, the Summoning Tower, the Space Tower, and the Alchemy Tower."
"Each one represents the pinnacle of achievement for Mages of its respective branch."
"The Elemental Tower commands Elemental Power, the Illusion Spirit Tower explores Illusion Techniques and the mysteries of the soul, the Summoning Tower is dedicated to contracts and summoning, the Space Tower preserves the traditions of mystical Space Magic and its principles, and the Alchemy Tower is a gathering place for countless top masters like Alchemists, Potion Masters, Array Masters, and Enchanters."
"I once pursued advanced studies at the Illusion Spirit Tower, and I benefited greatly from it."
"That’s also when I was inspired to create the Illusion Technique."
Li Wei asked, a bit puzzled, "Don’t you want me to inherit your legacy?"
"Shouldn’t you be sending me to the Illusion Spirit Tower, then? Why the Elemental Tower?"
For Li Wei, going to the Elemental Tower was definitely a better choice than the Illusion Spirit Tower.
After all, Fire Element Magic was his core skill.
The Illusion Technique was merely a supplementary skill.
’Logically, Torresta should want me to go to the Illusion Spirit Tower.’
Torresta said, "Correct. At first, I did want you to study at the Illusion Spirit Tower, hoping you would inherit my mantle."
"But after seeing your true strength, I changed my mind."
"You are better suited to becoming a powerful Fire Element Mage than a Spiritual Mage."
"As your teacher, I can’t let my own selfish desires hold you back."
Li Wei was touched.
Torresta added, "On the other hand, going to the Elemental Tower doesn’t mean you can never study at the Illusion Spirit Tower."
"The five top-level Mage Towers have a student exchange program every year. Exceptional students can travel to the other Mage Towers to learn more profound Magic Knowledge."
"If you go to the Elemental Tower and become an outstanding student, you’ll have the opportunity to become an exchange apprentice at the Illusion Spirit Tower."
"Then you’ll still have a chance to learn the knowledge of the Illusion Spirit Tower."
"But if you started there, you might never get the chance to leave the Illusion Spirit Tower."
Li Wei understood.
’He hasn’t given up on me inheriting his mantle after all.’
’I have to admit, Torresta has really thought this through for me.’
’He’s looking out for me in every way.’
Li Wei nodded. "I understand. When will I be going? And for how long?"
Torresta replied, "I will notify you of the specific date. As for how long you’ll be there, that depends on your progress."
"The standard time to graduation is ten years. With your talent for the path of a Fire Element Mage, your progress should be very quick. You’ll likely be able to graduate in six or seven years at most."
Li Wei was a little surprised. "That long? What are the graduation requirements?"
Torresta said, "That’s not long at all. The sea of Magic Knowledge is boundless. Even in a whole lifetime, you can only hope to glimpse a tiny fraction of it."
"Ten years is just enough to learn the Magic Knowledge required to reach the level of Grand Mage."
"The graduation requirement is to reach the threshold of a Grand Mage, showing the potential to become one within the following decade."
"After becoming a Grand Mage, you can choose to remain at the Elemental Tower for further studies. Within a century, you might even have the chance to become a Legendary Mage."
Torresta stopped explaining.
He asked, "How is your practice of the Illusion Technique coming along?"
Li Wei performed the Illusion Technique and created a notebook.
It was an imitation of the notebook of cultivation insights that Torresta had given him.
The notebook Torresta had created had been indistinguishable from a real one.
The notebook Li Wei created had only the appearance of one, with no actual content inside.
Flipping it open revealed nothing but blank pages.
The pages were of uneven thickness.
Torresta nodded and said, "Your progress is decent. You’ve been practicing the Illusion Technique for less than two months, so reaching this level is quite good."
Li Wei replied humbly, "It’s all thanks to your excellent teaching, Master."
Torresta let out a short laugh but didn’t say anything.
After a moment, he said, "Did you break through to Tier Two after using the Elf Spring Water?"
Li Wei wasn’t surprised.
Torresta was a Spiritual Mage with an extremely strong Perception Ability.
Given the vast difference in their power, it was only natural that he could tell Li Wei had broken through.
"A lucky breakthrough," Li Wei said.
Torresta sighed. "Your talent is truly enviable!"
"A sixteen-year-old Tier Two Mage."
Torresta said slowly, "Throughout the entire history of Mages, talents like you are few and far between."
"As long as they don’t perish in their youth, most go on to become Legendary Mages whose names are known throughout the world."
Clearly, Torresta had incredibly high expectations for Li Wei.
Legendary Mages were exceedingly rare in any era.
The title of Legendary Mage was synonymous with power.
Even the weakest Legendary Mage was a powerhouse capable of easily defeating a Giant Dragon.
The most powerful of Legendary Mages could even stand proud before a Divine Spirit.
After leaving the Sixth Floor, Li Wei returned to the third-floor library.
Only Torresta knew his true status.
Everyone else still saw Li Wei as just the genius Mage from Maple City.
Many people greeted Li Wei when they saw him.
"Hey, Li Wei, you’re here to read too?"
"Yeah."
This was partly due to his status as a genius Mage, and partly because the news that the Tower Master was his teacher had spread.
So even if people weren’t trying to curry favor with Li Wei, no one was willing to get on his bad side.
"Li Wei, are you looking to learn some Magic?"
El asked as he saw Li Wei walking toward him.
He was holding a Magic Book, apparently learning a new spell himself.
Li Wei nodded. "Mhm, I came over to see if there are any spells that might suit me."
His eyes swept over the section where the Magic Books for Tier Two Spells and Tier Three Magic were kept.
El reminded him, "The Tier One Magic is over here."
Li Wei smiled, "Thank you for the reminder, Mage Aier."
He picked up a Tier One Magic Book and pretended to read it for a while.
He put it down and picked up another.
Having more or less finished his own studies, El left.
Li Wei glanced around, and seeing no one, he seized the opportunity to grab two Magic Books.
Tier Two Fire Element Magic, Bursting Fireball Technique!
Tier Three Fire Element Magic, Blast Flame Skill!
It cost 100 Contribution points to learn a Tier Two Spell.
Learning a Tier Three Magic spell cost 200 Contribution points.
The higher the level of the spell, the more complex its Magic Model, and the harder it was to learn.
Under normal circumstances, one would need to study a Tier Two or Tier Three spell at least seven or eight times to master it.
A few people needed more than ten tries, and some could never master them at all.
But Li Wei only needed to do it once.
